Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead -
Chapter 939 - 939: Full-Power
Gold erupted, and hundreds of apocalyptic locusts were simply erased in their entirety, the golden hero surging up the mountain, each of his steps partially collapsing the ground across multiple kilometers, blasting through several more locusts, and flinging aside concentrated volleys of arrows, the sound of the trumpets became louder and louder with every moment that passed, to the point the ground began to shake intensely.
War surged forward as Conquest fired countless arrows, their respective armies imitating their leaders, the devilish horseman swung his greatsword through the air, with such power that he left an air vacuum in his wake, the winds stirred up were enough alone to render an entire town to nothingness, but Sonnenträger had no need to worry about destruction or the loss of life as this realm was nothing but empty memories, so he could only view the attack from his own, personal perspective, and truly, it was weak.
Jumping up and carrying his momentum, he performed a drop kick right as War swung again, blasting right through the greatsword and turning the horseman's upper body into minced meat without any loss of speed, the gold that followed his strike left nothing of War, it was as though he had never even been there to begin with.
Sonnenträger wholly ignored the other three riders and went directly for Loimos, who had not been remaining idle this entire time, having moved further behind the horsemen, had the monstrous locusts formed a wall in front of him whilst he prepared a powerful attack.
The first hero was not so familiar with Loimos, so he could not appreciate the significance of the pure undead having to stand still and prepare a singular attack, especially since he currently was at his full power, without any restrictions placed upon him, nothing was impeding his absurd strength or stopping him from using every loophole possible at once to perform the most egregious of attacks without any problem whatsoever.
But when truly going all out, even Loimos not just ignore everything, if one were to be in any of the secret locations were he kept an uncountable amount of different bodies and limbs woven from rot, they would be able to see as every single one of them either performed gestures, channelled battle arts, mouths of all sorts reciting prayers and incantations in every possible languages, rotten bodies doing ritualistic dances, magic circles, arrays and everything of the likes being created in real time by rotten bodies of his, only equipped with minimal thinking skills allowing them to follow the pure undead's will… Not only was Loimos personally performing all of those things, but he was also having all of these extra parts of himself, stocked across thousands of separate places, move alongside him, pushing the limits of applying conditions, battle arts and every way of power that could be used from so far away and across realms to impossible limits, allowing him to set and actually fulfill conditions and arts that should be impossible to do at once.
This was the true power of the pure undead, wielding his primeval rot to use and abuse everything he could possibly have available to him to maximise his strength, indeed, he had not done anything even remotely close to this since his very first confrontation with the pure living, it was the first time in many years that Loimos was actually unleashing his full strength, and since then, he had increased in strength by leaps and bounds…
As Sonnenträger easily tore through the locusts, Loimos completed the singular attack he had been charging up, all of this was meant for a single move, not a collection of them, only one.
And for the cherry on the cake of conditions he placed on himself, he spoke the name of what he was manifesting aloud, in pale tongue for the golden one to understand, but it was not like he could actually get it.
"Wormwood"
The mere preparations for it were causing this memory of the past to grow unstable, cracks were running through the very air, through the very fiber that held this past together, just from within Loimos's palm, a star manifested.
Wormwood was its name, and it was an original creation of Loimos, something he had actually failed countless of times to properly manifest, being an expression of his apocalyptic powers alongside everything else he had mastered, a true omen of the end, pure destruction incarnate.
And indeed, for its first real casting, it did not disappoint, blowing everything away, the true extent of its power was unfortunately unknown as the memory itself shattered before the destruction could reach beyond the continent of Viridis, suddenly, Loimos was blasted into a another memory, the far future of a realm that the empire hadn't even discovered yet, landing upon a tall building crafted from stone, crashing into a white object of unclear purpose, part of it resembling a big bowl, but with some sort of rod protruding from the center.
It was somewhat reminiscent of the black fog realm, only that this was not destroyed, the building and roads were intact, windows were everywhere and odd steel objects of various colours lined the sides of the roads.
Something crashing into the building opposite from him, a ray of golden radiance fell from the sky, and Sonnenträger rose up to his feet, his body reconstructing in an instant, but it was clear that wormwood had had some effect on the man, for the first time, it seemed like his endless pool of gold had actually decreased.
But it was still high, and the hero cracked his neck, looking directly at Loimos.
"Nice one, but that took a lot out of you"
Just as he said this, Loimos had tendrils of rot wrapped around a black crystal in one of the hidden areas crush it, instantly bringing the undead back to his peak.
"Well, forget what I just said then…" for the first time however, Sonnenträger grinned and a hint of brightness flourished in his eyes.
"You are indeed the strongest foe I have ever faced, don't mind my earlier comments about your predecessor, I am now convinced that even at full power, he wouldn't have matched up to you, at least in terms of raw power and skill" kicking off the ground, Sonnenträger turned the building he was upon into dust, striking at Loimos with renewed attention, his fist crashing down upon the roof as the undead evaded the blow, but the strength of the attack shattered the tall building entirely, and caused a severe earthquake across the grey city.
The pure undead jumped off the building before it was destroyed, landing into the middle of a street, only to see the golden hero pick up a whole portion of the ground and throw it at him, the projectile imbued with the gold.
'Ah… My heart is starting to beat faster again…'
