Chapter 180: Fury and Shock

After a long day of work, Chen Qishan returned to his residence.

At his level, he had already stepped into the true core of power within the Imperial Capital.

His residence was located in the central district, a place where high-ranking officials and aristocrats gathered—a symbol of status and authority.

As soon as Chen Qishan arrived home, a servant stepped forward and handed him several invitation cards.

Glancing over them briefly, he saw that they were from various noble families in the Imperial Capital, inviting him to banquets.

He nodded and instructed, “Arrange my schedule. I will attend all of them.”

The Chen family had only recently entered the aristocratic circle of the Imperial Capital. To secure a firm foothold, expanding their network was a top priority.

Then, Chen Qishan suddenly asked, “Where is Liu’er?”

Among his descendants, Chen Liu was the one he valued the most. He had planned to bring him along to these banquets.

After all, the younger generation from noble families would also be attending.

If Chen Liu could meet a suitable lady from an aristocratic family, he could arrange a marriage alliance.

Throughout history, marriage alliances had always been one of the most effective strategies.

If the Chen family could form an alliance with a powerful noble house, their integration into Imperial high society would progress much faster.

A servant quickly reported, “Young Master has already returned. Butler Kang Hui is waiting outside your study—he says he has something important to report.”

Hearing this, Chen Qishan’s brows furrowed. A man of deep foresight, he immediately sensed that something had happened.

Without delay, he strode toward the study, where he saw Kang Hui waiting anxiously.

“Master!”

Kang Hui was about to speak, but Chen Qishan raised a hand, signaling him to enter the study first.

Once inside, he shut the door. Then, in a calm tone, he asked: “What happened?”

Kang Hui took a deep breath before speaking carefully:

“Young Master… he has fallen for a female celebrity. Today, he even tried to pursue her.”

Chen Qishan listened in silence, not interrupting. He knew it couldn’t be that simple.

Pursuing a female celebrity? What’s the big deal? It was just a casual fling.

When he was young, he had played around with plenty of female celebrities himself. But then, Kang Hui’s next words made his expression turn cold.

“However, Miss Su… is Qin Xian’s woman. And today, Young Master happened to encounter Young Master Qin himself.”

The moment Chen Qishan heard the name Qin Xian, his entire demeanor shifted dramatically. His expression became serious and grave.

“Qin family’s eldest young master?”

Kang Hui’s face was pale as he nodded. He had seen too much in his lifetime—he knew that even the smallest mistake could destroy an entire family.

Chen Qishan’s brows knitted tightly, his face heavy with deep contemplation. If it had been any other noble heir, he wouldn’t have cared.

Young aristocrats fighting over a woman was nothing new. It was just meaningless rivalry.

And besides, most heirs didn’t hold that much direct influence over their families.

But Qin Xian was different. As the patriarch of the Chen family and the Imperial Minister of Internal Affairs, Chen Qishan was privy to far more information than others.

He knew—Qin Xian was not just the heir of the Qin family.

He was already deeply involved in major Qin family decisions. The massive political purge in the Imperial Capital last year?

It was orchestrated by Qin Xian himself.

To put it in perspective—If Chen Liu had pursued the eldest daughter of the Huangfu family, it would have been troublesome, but manageable.

But if Chen Liu had set his sights on the Huangfu Patriarch’s woman—That would be a disaster!

Chen Qishan’s face darkened, “Bring Chen Liu to me.”

Kang Hui quickly nodded and left the study.

Moments later, Chen Liu entered, his posture slightly tense as he cautiously glanced at his grandfather’s stormy expression.

“Grandfather.”

Looking at the grandson he had always favored, Chen Qishan’s voice was eerily calm, “Tell me about this Miss Su.”

Chen Liu hesitated, but then gathered his courage and said in a low voice, “I… I like her!”

“FOOL!!!” Chen Qishan slammed his palm onto the table, his fury erupting in an instant.

“Do you have any idea who she belongs to?! She is Qin Xian’s woman! The woman of Young Master Qin—AND YOU DARED TO THINK ABOUT HER?!”

Chen Qishan took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. Then, in a voice like steel, he commanded, “You will leave the Imperial Capital immediately.”

“Return to Anxi and never come back. And from now on, you are NEVER to bother Miss Su again.”

“I will personally apologize to Young Master Qin. Hopefully, he will grant me enough respect to overlook this matter.”

Chen Liu’s face turned pale. He never imagined that simply liking a woman could cause such massive trouble for his family.

Was it really that serious?!

But then, hearing his grandfather order him to leave the Imperial Capital forever, his heart was filled with rage and defiance.

“Why?! Liking someone isn’t a crime! No matter how powerful the Qin family is, they’re not the Emperor! Above the Qin family, there is still the Regent!”

Seeing his grandson’s stubborn and rebellious expression, Chen Qishan felt his blood pressure spike.

He had always favored Chen Liu because of his incredible talent. An SS-ranked Arcane Mage, a prodigy with limitless potential.

In a world where one’s profession determined their worth, this was an invaluable asset. As for his immaturity and naivety, Chen Qishan had never been too concerned.

Young men were always reckless—he had been the same when he was young.

As long as Chen Liu was properly disciplined and tempered through experience, he could grow into a great leader.

But now, Chen Liu’s defiance infuriated him. For the sake of a woman—a mere entertainer—he was disregarding the interests of the entire Chen family?!

Chen Qishan’s voice turned icy, “My decision is final. You are leaving for Anxi tomorrow.”

Chen Liu stared in disbelief. He never expected that his grandfather—his biggest supporter—would cast him out over this.

Did the Qin family really have the power to destroy the entire Chen family over this?!

Chen Liu didn’t say another word. He simply turned and left.

But Chen Qishan sat there, his expression grim. He knew his grandson’s stubborn nature. There was a real possibility that Chen Liu would disobey and continue pursuing Su Keqing.

And if that happened…The consequences would be catastrophic.

For the first time, Chen Qishan began to question his own judgment. Had he made a mistake in choosing Chen Liu as his successor?

After all, a true heir to a great family should never let emotions cloud their judgment.

And as the implications of Chen Liu’s defiance sank in, Chen Qishan’s expression grew darker and darker…
