Chapter 763: Vacation?

"I don’t know."

Zhao Yuhua had no awareness of the language issue in her earlier statement; she shook her head and said decisively.

"You don’t know?"

Xiao Yi wondered if he had misheard. How could she not know? If she didn’t know, why had she been so sure in telling him to go? And moreover, why did she say it as if it were a matter of course—as if she were so certain he would go?

"I really don’t know."

Zhao Yuhua nodded again, very matter-of-factly, "You’ll know when you get there, won’t you? When are you free?"

After speaking, she glanced at Xiao Yi with a strange look in her eyes, seemingly bewildered by his question. It was her grandfather who wanted to see him—not her. How should she know why he wanted to see him?

"Shouldn’t you ask me first if I’m willing to meet him?"

Xiao Yi, watching Zhao Yuhua’s expression, couldn’t hold back any longer.

Zhao Yuhua seemed completely taken aback by Xiao Yi’s question. She was momentarily stunned, then her eyebrows slightly furrowed before she regained her composure and slowly repeated Xiao Yi’s question, "So, do you want to meet him or not?"

"......"

Looking at Zhao Yuhua in front of him, Xiao Yi found himself speechless. Seeing the look on her face, he had no doubt that Zhao Yuhua would not force him. If he said no, she would definitely nod and then leave. But could he really refuse to go?

After hesitating for a moment, he still managed a wry smile and said to Zhao Yuhua, awaiting his answer, "I should be free for the next two days. You can check when your grandfather is free and give me a call then."

"Okay."

Zhao Yuhua nodded, then turned and left as if she had completed a task.

It’s really hard to tell whether the man who ends up with her would be lucky or unlucky!

Watching Zhao Yuhua’s retreating figure, a wry, speechless smile surfaced on Xiao Yi’s face. Zhao Yuhua was undoubtedly beautiful; being with such a beauty was surely a delight to the eyes. Yet, her cold demeanor wasn’t something everyone could endure.

Standing there for a moment, Xiao Yi shook his head and, under the hateful glare of the guy who had bumped into the doorframe, he too followed in Zhao Yuhua’s footsteps and left the classroom.

Back at Azure Waterfront, sitting on the sofa, watching TV while holding a cup, Xiao Yi’s thoughts were still on Zhao Yuhua. He pondered why her grandfather wanted to see him, but after a while, he gave up such pointless speculation. Whatever the reason, it would all become clear when they met.

Putting aside Zhao Yuhua’s matter, Xiao Yi recalled the recent exams. A faint smile emerged on his lips as he savored the experiences of the past several days.

He couldn’t help but wonder where he would stand among them all this time, haha.

A touch of anticipation couldn’t help but show in Xiao Yi’s eyes.

He was somewhat eager to see where he ranked among his peers for the first time.

Surely, he wouldn’t come last.

After thinking for a while, Xiao Yi shook his head, discarding the clutter of random thoughts. He lifted his cup to take a sip of water and stood up, ready to head upstairs to practice.

"Ring Ring..."

Just as Xiao Yi stood up, his phone suddenly rang urgently.

"Hello, is this Xiao Yi?"

As soon as Xiao Yi pressed the answer button, a gentle voice came through the phone.

"Miss Han?"

On hearing the voice, Xiao Yi was momentarily startled. He hadn’t checked the caller ID before instinctively answering, and it took a moment for him to recognize the voice as that of Miss Han Lu from the Han Family.

Her uniquely serene and gentle voice was rather distinct; once someone heard it, it was hard to forget.

"Xiao Yi, didn’t I say not to address me that way? Are we really that estranged? Have you never considered me a friend?"

Upon hearing Xiao Yi’s address, Han Lu’s originally gentle smile froze on her face. After a long moment, she sighed softly.

"Of course not, it’s definitely not like that. Uh, senior sister, I apologize. I misspoke in haste earlier."

Xiao Yi listened to Han Lu’s faint voice and quickly explained in urgency. He had a very favorable impression of Miss Han of the Han Family, and he could feel the goodwill she brought him every time they met; it was precious to him. They were at the same university and Han Lu once specifically told him to call her "senior sister" instead of Miss Han, but just now, upon hearing his voice, he had forgotten in the moment.

"An offhand remark reveals what’s truly in the heart, indicating that you’re still quite a stranger to me," she said softly.

Sensing Xiao Yi’s anxious tone on the other end of the line, Han Lu’s faint expression once again transformed into a smile gentle and calm as blooming flowers, though her words still carried a slight reproachful tone.

"Cough... Senior sister, you misunderstand, how could that be?"

Xiao Yi chuckled sheepishly, feeling somewhat guilty, not daring to dwell on this topic. He quickly changed the subject, "Anyway, senior sister, did you call me for a reason today?"

"Can’t I call you without a reason?"

Han Lu’s tone became faint again.

"Of course not," Xiao Yi replied, chuckling sheepishly again, "Senior sister can call me whenever she wants. I’m a free man anyway. But I thought you might be busy."

"It seems that after some time, your eloquence has grown and you’ve become better at talking," she noted.

Even though she knew Xiao Yi’s words weren’t sincere, Han Lu couldn’t help feeling happy, a smile appearing on her face.

She didn’t want to make it tough for Xiao Yi anymore and got straight to the point of her call, "Xiao Yi, exams for your major ended today, right?"

"Yeah, just finished," he laughed and nodded, "How did you know?"

"I checked your exam schedule. Hehe, I dared to call because I knew you’d finished today."

Han Lu laughed, "So, how did it go? Do you think you might fail any subject? Do you want senior sister to talk to your teachers for you, get them to give you a break?"

"Thank you, senior sister, but that won’t be necessary, I should be able to pass."

Hearing Han Lu’s words, Xiao Yi felt touched. He knew her casual tone made it seem like a trivial matter, but her calling right after his exams ended showed she had been paying attention to him, looking out for him intentionally.

The thought that she would indeed help him with any failing subjects, although said in a joking manner, he knew she would help if he really needed it.

Feeling warm and moved, he also felt ashamed. Compared to her, he truly seemed heartless. Since their acquaintance, aside from the first time he helped save her grandfather, he hadn’t really helped her at all, and he seldom even remembered her.

"That’s good then. Actually, I believe you shouldn’t have any problems at all, hehe," she replied with confidence.

Although Han Lu could have helped Xiao Yi if he really had failing grades, she still hoped he would do well on his own, preferably excellently.

Xiao Yi laughed, unsure whether he could do excellently. To him, being excellent meant standing out among a group of people, and right now he only knew how he performed, not how the others did.

"Xiao Yi, after finals, it’s winter break. What are your plans? Are you going home, or are you staying in G City for the New Year?"

After a laugh, Han Lu glanced at the calendar beside her, her face hopeful.

She hoped Xiao Yi wouldn’t go home and would stay in G City, so she could invite him to stay at her place for the winter break. Even if he couldn’t stay at her home, staying in the city would give them more opportunities to go out together.

"Winter break?"

Upon hearing her question, Xiao Yi was completely taken aback.

Right, after exams according to school regulations, it’s vacation time, and there’s no need to attend classes anymore. Students are busy heading home. During the summer break, many choose to stay and find jobs in the city, but in winter, most students go home.

But what about him? What did winter break mean to him?

Go home? Where would he return to?

With the old man’s whereabouts unclear, without him, what place could be considered home for Xiao Yi?

A puzzled expression appeared on Xiao Yi’s face.

"Yeah, after the end of the term, we’re on break. You didn’t know?"

Han Lu heard the surprise in Xiao Yi’s voice and couldn’t help expressing astonishment.
