Chapter 64: Chapter 65 Request for Help
Although he had said he was going to the library just to get rid of the annoying girl, Zeng Xiaoxiao, to avoid being dragged into another crazy stunt, after watching her leave, he still decided to head to the library.
It wasn’t that he feared his lie to Xiaoxiao being exposed, but after giving it some thought, he realized he didn’t have much else to do and figured he might as well go to the library to browse, find some interesting books to enrich his knowledge, or perhaps memorize some pages from the pharmacopoeia and herbarium. After all, his brain wasn’t a computer, and certain things needed to be reviewed over time. Many of the texts the old man had coerced him into memorizing with a mix of threats and bribes had begun to fade from his memory.
But his plans were disrupted nonetheless.
He had just arrived at the library, taken a stroll around the book tower, and found a book on psychological disorders. He hadn’t even opened it when his phone in his pocket started ringing urgently.
Startled by the ringing, Xiao Yi couldn’t help but feel somewhat embarrassed as he cast an apologetic glance at the surrounding students who, also startled, had turned their gaze towards him. He quickly put down the book and turned to walk towards a corner.
It was only after reaching the corner and ensuring he wouldn’t disturb others that Xiao Yi furrowed his brows, pulled out his newly bought phone, and silently decided to set it to vibrate mode immediately afterwards.
As soon as he took out the phone and saw the caller ID, Xiao Yi was taken aback—it was Fatty Tang!
He had given Tang his number that very morning in class, under persistent questioning.
They had just separated after class, why was he looking for him?
Pressing the answer button with a hint of confusion, Xiao Yi frowned slightly and said, "Hello?"
"Boss, save me!"
The moment Xiao Yi’s voice was heard, an immediately distressed cry came from Tang over the phone.
"Xiao, if you don’t want your little brother here to be beaten into a cripple, you’d better come over quickly."
Xiao Yi’s brow twitched upon hearing Tang’s almost tearful voice. Just as he was about to ask what was going on, an eerie voice he had never heard before came through the phone.
"Who are you? Where are you? I’m coming right now!"
A sharp edge flashed in Xiao Yi’s eyes instantaneously, and an astonishing presence burst forth from his slender frame as if he had transformed into someone else, his tone icy as he spoke.
"Your dorm, Western District Building E, Room 602, you have ten minutes. If you’re not here, don’t blame me for not being nice."
The sinister voice continued arrogantly over the phone.
"You better not do anything rash. If anything happens to Fatty Tang, I’ll make sure you regret ever coming into this world!"
After listening to the words on the other end of the phone, Xiao Yi coldly dropped a statement and immediately hung up, then dashed toward the dormitory he hadn’t visited yet.
On the other side of the call, Jin Xiaohan in Western District E Building, Dorm 602, after hearing the threatening tone that was even more arrogant than his, almost thought he had misheard. It took a while until the beeping tone from the phone brought him back to reality, and furiously, he slammed his phone to the ground, smashing it to pieces, and cursed, "You dare to threaten me?"
Fatty Tang watched as the phone, accompanied by the crisp snap, instantly disassembled into scattered parts on the floor. The corner of his mouth twitched fiercely. That was his newly bought phone, an Apple 5th generation no less – he had only had it for less than a week!
But at that moment, he couldn’t care less about mourning his new Apple 5th generation. Earlier, he was forced to make the call to Xiao Yi, managed to say only a word before the phone was snatched away, and didn’t get to hear what was said on the other end. Listening to Jin Xiaohan’s furious demeanor, his heart was in his throat. The new boss Xiao Yi he had just acknowledged, he couldn’t be saying he wouldn’t come over, leaving them in the lurch, right?
If he had known that this boss was so unreliable and that he had so many enemies, he wouldn’t have acknowledged anyone as his boss.
Having acknowledged a boss, he did, but why did he have to show off just now? Why did he have to be so mouthy? Couldn’t he have seen clearly who he was dealing with before speaking?
Fatty Tang, thinking back on the situation just then, was filled with regret, wishing he could slap himself several times.
As soon as the class bell rang, adhering to the principle of staying away from Zeng Xiaoxiao, Fatty Tang immediately fled without any loyalty, leaving Xiao Yi, the boss sitting together with Zeng Xiaoxiao, without even a greeting and rushed out of the classroom, leaving the place of trouble and humming a tune of victory back to his dormitory.
Upon returning to the dormitory, he immediately turned on the computer, intending to continue downloading the movie he hadn’t finished the day before. It was at that moment a voice came from outside the door, "Xiao Yi lives in this dorm, right?"
Without turning, he responded, "That’s right, my boss does live here, what’s it to you?"
Consequently, he was dragged up from the computer chair, and before he could figure out what was happening, he received a punch that almost made his insides churn. It took a moment to settle his stomach before he understood the situation from the leader of the three newcomers – a good-looking guy with somewhat chilly eyes. These people were Xiao Yi’s enemies who had come to settle accounts with him at the dormitory.
"Young Master Jin, what’s wrong? What did that hillbilly say?"
Zhang Bing, seeing Young Master Jin’s enraged expression, asked with concern.
"That hillbilly said, if I dare touch a hair on this fatty’s head, he’d make me regret coming into this world, tsk tsk."
Young Master Jin said coldly, his gaze shifting toward Fatty Tang who had been punched by Zhao Yongcai and had his arms twisted behind his back in control. A cruel cold smile appeared on Young Master Jin’s face as he approached Fatty Tang step by step, "I’m curious to see how he’s going to make me regret being born!"
"What... what do you want to do!"
Fatty Tang, seeing Young Master Jin’s cold, cruel smile and his terrifying tone, felt any warmth he might have had from hearing that statement vanish completely, his face turning deathly pale, and his voice trembled as he spoke. In his heart, he kept crying out: Boss, boss, even if you want to threaten them, at least check the situation first. At the very least, save your underling before spewing such harsh words. Right now, you’re just setting me up!
