Chapter 627: Chapter 623: Nobles Often Forget Things
Chapter 623: The Forgetfulness of the Privileged
Although at the beginning of the school sports festival, their conversation had sparked secret speculation among onlookers that they might have become a couple, especially when Zhao Yuhua went to the field to cheer for Xiao Yi, many people guessed as much. However, over this period, the two rarely talked in class and never arrived at school together nor left together; they went their separate ways. So, everyone gradually abandoned their previous suspicions, thinking it was probably a misunderstanding and that a relationship between them was impossible.
"Ahem..."
Feeling Zhao Yuhua’s gaze and the collective attention from the classroom that followed, Xiao Yi’s face flushed with a slight embarrassment. He cleared his throat before standing up slowly with increasing seriousness, extending his hand to give Li Zhengyi a light tap on the shoulder.
Li Zhengyi was not blind. Just as Xiao Yi had considered, Li had seen him sitting next to Zhao Yuhua from the beginning, but he had deliberately acted as though he hadn’t seen Xiao Yi, purposefully ignoring him. In his view, Xiao Yi wasn’t worth his attention!
Yet, now that Xiao Yi had reached out and tapped his shoulder, he could no longer pretend Xiao Yi didn’t exist. However, he was not afraid of Xiao Yi, because his disregard was not out of hostility but genuine disdain, a sense of superiority!
Feeling the touch of Xiao Yi’s hand on his shoulder, Li Zhengyi maintained an incredibly calm demeanor as he slowly turned his head. His face adopted a mix of surprise, confusion, and innocence, as though he had no idea who had tapped him from behind. When he finally turned and saw Xiao Yi, a puzzled expression remained on his face, "Classmate, do you need something?"
As if he didn’t recognize Xiao Yi at all, as if they had never met before.
"Mr. Li, we meet again."
Seeing the expression on Li Zhengyi’s face, Xiao Yi couldn’t help but silently admire him inwardly. This man was indeed talented. Even if he didn’t play basketball, if he ventured into show business and acted in movies, he might very well win an Oscar or some such award.
If it were not for the fact that Xiao Yi knew Li Zhengyi couldn’t possibly be unaware of his presence, he almost could have believed that Li truly didn’t know he was there.
However, he couldn’t afford to be as forgetful as the privileged, forgetting that he had met him once before. For Xiao Yi, the arrival of a friend from afar was always cause for celebration. Therefore, Xiao Yi’s face broke into a radiant smile as he spoke enthusiastically, "To witness your heartfelt confession once again is truly an honor, and greatly beneficial. However, next time you wish to confess to Yuhua, could you perhaps pick a moment when I am not present?"
"Classmate, I don’t understand what you mean."
As he listened to Xiao Yi’s words, the expression on Li Zhengyi’s face froze for an instant. But quickly, his countenance returned to its natural state as he spoke deliberately. In his heart, a sneer surfaced: How dare this man question him? Even if he did question him, what of it? With his timidity, what could he possibly dare to do?
"I’ve seen shameless, but I’ve never seen anyone as shameless as you! Digging at someone’s wall corner right in front of them and still pretending not to understand what that means?"
Before Xiao Yi could speak, Fatty Tang beside him could no longer hold back. He glared fiercely at Li Zheng Yi in front of him, his eyes seeming as though he wished he could devour him. He slammed the desk fiercely and shouted, "Damn it, you actually dare to dig at our boss’s wall corner? You really haven’t died before, Mr. Li, if you know what’s good for you, you’d better scram right now!"
"Whoa!"
Fatty Tang’s words effectively announced to everyone for the first time the fact that Zhao Yuhua and Xiao Yi were together, proclaiming their boyfriend-girlfriend relationship. The students in the classroom were once again deeply shocked, creating a buzz of astonishment.
All eyes turned to the parties involved, Zhao Yuhua and Xiao Yi, placing their last hopes on them, hoping to hear from their own mouths words to deny this answer.
Zhao Yuhua furrowed her brows and glanced at Xiao Yi, seeming to want to say something, but for some reason, after opening her mouth, she ultimately closed it again, her expression returning to indifference.
Embarrassment flickered across Xiao Yi’s face; he certainly hadn’t expected Fatty Tang to bellow such a thing at a crucial moment. Though, he and Zhao Yuhua had agreed to pretend to be in a relationship in front of Li Zheng Yi, in reality, both had been very careful, clearly hoping to keep it a secret from everyone else. Fatty Tang’s declaration made it likely the whole classroom would now misunderstand his relationship with Zhao Yuhua.
He looked at Zhao Yuhua with apologetic eyes, then glared discontentedly at Fatty Tang. But he knew that with things having gotten to this point, Fatty Tang could not be blamed. Even without Fatty Tang’s outburst, after today’s incident, the students would have guessed and misunderstood their relationship anyway, at most just lacking a thin sheet of paper to pierce through. If anyone was to be blamed for today’s incident, it would only be Li Zheng Yi for being so clueless and showing up here.
"This fellow student, you need to have evidence when you speak. What do you mean by digging at someone’s wall corner? I can understand your classmates’ loyalty, but if you speak recklessly, I will reserve the right to pursue legal action for slander!"
Li Zheng Yi, facing Fatty Tang who had suddenly emerged, robust and strong, had a chill in his expression, saying coldly. A rare coldness and chill flashed in his eyes; he, Li Zheng Yi, rarely encountered someone daring to slap him in the face like this.
"Not to mention that Ms. Yuhua has never acknowledged being that student’s girlfriend, even if she truly was his girlfriend, or even if they were married, I would still have the right to like her and pursue her!"
No sooner had Li Zheng Yi finished speaking than he turned his head, his gaze burning with passion as he looked at Zhao Yuhua.
Listening to Li Zheng Yi’s shameless words, Fatty Tang was almost steaming with rage, and had it not been for Xiao Yi holding him back, he would have charged out and given the kid a good beating. Nowadays, practicing the Jiu-Jitsu that Xiao Yi taught him had greatly improved his skills, and his confidence had soared; he certainly wasn’t afraid of Li Zheng Yi who stood at over one meter ninety. It never crossed his mind that Li Zheng Yi could be so shameless, to actually say such things. Regret and annoyance filled his heart for being so blind as to have ever liked this guy, and even purchasing sports shoes endorsed by him, not to mention having watched several of his game broadcasts.
