Chapter 51: Chapters 49-51 Shen Xiaoxiao_2

After fussing around for a while, soon, plate after plate of fragrant dishes made their way from the pot onto the small tea table in the living room.

Once he had taken care of the post-cooking tasks, such as turning off the gas, Xiao Yi comfortably settled down on the sofa to start enjoying his dinner for the day.

Regarding his culinary achievements today, he was much more satisfied than yesterday. After a trial run yesterday, he felt much less unfamiliar with handling spices and controlling the heat. That familiar feeling had returned.

After savoring the homemade dinner and tidying up, Xiao Yi prepared to head upstairs to cultivate like he had yesterday. Ever since he realized that the key to breaking through to the Second Layer of the Carefree True Scripture might require one powerful burst of energy, he decided to cultivate more diligently, hoping that practicing more each day would help him reach the realm where True Qi surges through his dantian more quickly.

But just as he had reached the upstairs and hadn’t yet crossed his legs into meditation, the sudden ring of his cellphone caught his attention.

Xiao Yi grabbed his phone, frowning at the caller ID, and pressed the answer button with a face filled with joy, for it showed the number of the old man who had been missing for some time!

"Kid, you’ve made it to Z University, haven’t you?"

As soon as he answered, he heard the old man’s distinctive, somewhat stilted Mandarin.

"Old man, where have you gone? Why have you turned off your phone too!"

Confirming it indeed was the old man’s voice, Xiao Yi could no longer contain his excitement and joyously responded.

"I’ve been chasing girls, kid. How come you’ve become so stupid in just a short time? Of course, I turn off my phone when I’m chasing girls; otherwise, am I waiting for you guys to come and mess it up? Such a stupid question you’ve got there."

The old man’s voice carried with it a tone of disdain.

"Fine, I admit it was a bit of a silly question. But, old man, why did you send me to Z University?"

"Didn’t I tell you earlier? For you to go to Z University and study. Going to university obviously means to study. Or do you think it’s to be a teacher? Hmm, if it were the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, with your skills, you could probably be a lecturer. I won’t talk more, Yi, just enjoy your university life. And don’t forget to charm a dozen or so campus beauties, alright, that’s it."

Xiao Yi wanted to say more, but the call had been cut off, leaving only a dial tone. He redialed, only to be greeted with the familiar tone indicating the phone was switched off.

The next day was Saturday, with no classes. Waking up early, Xiao Yi made himself breakfast as a treat for his stomach. Then, after giving it some thought, since he had nothing particular to do, he decided to take a tour of the residential community where he was living to familiarize himself with the environment. He hadn’t explored it since moving in. Although he was fairly confident in his abilities, you never know what might happen in this world. If a formidable expert were to force him to flee, it would be unfortunate if he were completely unprepared.

Azure Waterfront was a brand community developed with great efforts by Jianguo Group. From the very beginning, it was designed to be a luxury residential community, which is why the houses here weren’t packed tightly together like in ordinary communities, creating a sense of oppression and discomfort. The community not only had a high greenery rate but also ample space between each house, ensuring good lighting for every unit.

The facilities within the community were also complete, with a luxurious clubhouse and well-made outdoor fitness equipment.

As Xiao Yi walked around the community, he could see many people who had gotten up early to exercise. Most of the residents here were quite successful in their careers and, after spending their early years working hard, they had begun to place a great emphasis on their health. They desperately sought treatment from traditional Chinese medicine doctors, while also forcing themselves to follow the doctors’ advice and keep exercising, hoping to recover the health they had neglected while busy with their careers.

Oblivious to those earnestly practicing Tai Chi, wielding Tai Chi swords, or jogging in the community, Xiao Yi did not seem too interested; his eyes merely glanced over them before moving on. His gaze focused more on observing the structure and space between the buildings and corridors, analyzing and selecting the optimal escape routes in case of an emergency.

Early morning exercise was a habit that Shen Xiaoxiao had maintained for many years. Although she participated in many indoor fitness activities like the currently popular yoga and aerobics, she still preferred to breathe in the fresh air outdoors in the morning. She found that running and thinking were particularly wonderful, often providing her with excellent inspiration.

Today was a weekend, and as usual, she got up early, freshened up, and started her run along the green path by the river in the community.

This path was her favorite. To her left was a stretch of fresh greenery where she could breathe fresh air and also gaze at the clear blue waters. This was precisely what had attracted her to Azure Waterfront, prompting her to buy a place here without hesitation.
