Chapter 126: Chapter 129: Looks like a Beggar?
(Immense thanks to the generous support from Book Friends Beibei Chenfeng and Wolf King❄️Binglong, thank you!!)
————————————————————————————
People coming in and out, seeing Xiao Yi standing next to the waitress, each displayed a strange expression as they walked by, looking at him with either disdain, surprise, or sympathy. One particularly sympathetic person even pulled out a hundred-yuan note and handed it to Xiao Yi.
Do I really look like a beggar?
Staring at the hundred-yuan note that was thrown by a middle-aged man who just passed by, still fluttering in the air, Xiao Yi couldn’t help but smile wryly in his mind. Still, he reached out to catch the note. It was thrown to him, after all; he couldn’t just waste it, could he?
The waitress standing next to him saw that Xiao Yi actually caught a hundred-yuan note and her face darkened with even more disdain.
Turns out he really is a beggar.
However, it seems I can’t let him stand here like this; I have to drive him out. Otherwise, having a beggar begging at the door, what would that look like?
The waitress thought to herself and picked up the walkie-talkie, preparing to call the security guard over.
"Xiao Yi!"
Just as the waitress was about to lift the walkie-talkie and speak, suddenly, a joyful cry of surprise sounded.
"Is it you guys?"
Hearing this voice, Xiao Yi was slightly stunned, then he looked up and smiled at the person who spoke.
Approaching were five or six individuals, led by Han Lu, the girl from the Han family that Xiao Yi had encountered last time at Antique City. Among the others, there were a few faces Xiao Yi recognized; the old man, energetic and escorted by the crowd, was Han Lu’s grandfather, whom he had treated before in Book City; and standing next to him was a middle-aged man, the owner of the antique shop in Antique City, Han Lu’s great-uncle Han Cheng.
Next to Han Lu stood a prim and proper young man, also someone Xiao Yi had seen in Antique City, seems his name was Qian Xiaofeng. Upon seeing Xiao Yi, a flash of jealousy quickly passed the depths of Qian Xiaofeng’s eyes, though it was deeply concealed and fleeting. His face soon resumed its polite, elegant demeanor.
The other few people Xiao Yi had not met, but by their expressions, they were likely members of the Han family.
"Elder Han, has your health been good recently?"
Seeing the old man, Xiao Yi greeted him warmly again.
He had a quite favorable impression of this hearty old man.
"Excellent, excellent, Brother Xiao, you truly are a Divine Doctor. Ever since I started following the prescription you wrote, I have felt my old bones rejuvenating, my body feeling more vigorous each passing day!"
Upon seeing Xiao Yi, Old Master Han’s face immediately showed an expression of immense joy. Pushing through the crowd in front of him, he grabbed Xiao Yi’s hands and spoke with stirring emotion, "Brother Xiao, you saved an old man’s life last time, and I didn’t even get the chance to thank you, which truly makes me ashamed."
Brother Xiao?
Is Old Master Han calling this beggar Brother Xiao?
The female attendant watching this scene felt her heart might give out, her eyes almost popping out of her head.
Having worked here for over a year, she was well familiar with some of the distinguished guests. The Old Master Han before her was currently the Sect Leader of the Han Family, one of the very few supreme VIP members of Jingyue Pavilion. He was considerably more eminent than even Li Ziming and the others. The people standing beside him were all well-recognized individuals from various sectors of society, familiar faces around the Han Family.
Normally, she couldn’t even interpose a word in their presence, as they were truly esteemed figures.
Yet this seemingly little beggar knew them and appeared to have an exceptionally good relationship with them!
Over the radio, the voice of the security team could be heard asking queries, but she was so overwhelmed she couldn’t hear them. Her mind was entirely filled with the sight of Old Master Han affectionately holding Xiao Yi’s hands, her ears buzzing with noise.
The crowd around Old Master Han, aside from Han Cheng and Han Lu who had met Xiao Yi before, were startled upon seeing Old Master Han excitedly holding Xiao Yi’s hand. Their faces showed immense shock and astonishment. They knew the Old Master’s temperament all too well; throughout the years, they had never seen him behave so out of character or show such friendly disposition towards any young person.
The young members of their family, all quite outstanding, were always cautious in his presence. Only occasionally, when they achieved something significant, he would nod and show a brief smile!
Upon hearing Old Master Han’s words, they all suddenly realized that this young man was the life-saving benefactor the old man often spoke of!
But their faces inevitably showed a hint of confusion. They had often heard the old man mention this lifesaver, but the young man before them seemed too young for that role. Was he really the Divine Doctor the old man talked about? Or was he bluffing?
"It’s good that you’re better, haha, I see that Old Master Han’s complexion has mostly returned to normal too."
Xiao Yi smiled. From the moment he saw Old Master Han, he could tell from his complexion that he wasn’t suffering from any major issues. Any minor ailments simply needed good care, and there wouldn’t be any problems with his health.
"Yes, completely better, even my blood pressure has mostly normalized, and I can enjoy a few drinks again, all thanks to your blessing, Brother Xiao."
Old Master Han laughed heartily. At this point, he truly felt immense gratitude towards Xiao Yi. Although he knew of Xiao Yi’s involvement in his recovery, he was initially somewhat skeptical—not about whether Xiao Yi had saved him, but about whether his medical skills were as miraculous as his granddaughter made them seem, given his young age. The prominent doctors of traditional Chinese medicine were typically elderly, with white hair and beards; even those who gained fame in their fifties were considered quite young.
Thus, while he was grateful and appreciative toward Xiao Yi initially, he wasn’t profoundly moved. Even cautious to some extent, he didn’t take the prescribed medicine right away but had first called his old friend and long-time primary doctor, Divine Doctor An, to check the prescription. Only after being assured it wouldn’t harm his body did he confidently proceed with its preparation. But he had kept this consultation hidden from his granddaughter.
