Chapter 100: Chapter 101: Is it you who kicked them?

Ever since the incident on the train, his days had been utterly despondent, extremely suppressed, and depressing.

Several consecutive attempts to strike on buses had been anticipated by others, and there was even a close call with an undercover cop. Fortunately, he reacted quickly and slipped away.

It was not easy to run into that kid who had ruined his plans on the train and fleeced him last time. Thinking he could get his revenge, he called his cousin and gathered a group of brothers to teach the kid a lesson, only to end up with the tables turned. A single kick had left him in pain for days.

Lately, he didn’t understand why his card games always ended in loss, as if he was shrouded in bad luck. Only last night had he finally stopped playing cards and slept well, and today he planned to wander the streets, hoping to find some easy prey. But he hadn’t expected that the moment he stepped out, he would spot that same girl who had interfered with his plans last time.

He thought he was seeing things, but after quickening his pace and following her for a few steps, he confirmed he wasn’t mistaken.

Delight surged within him, and he lurked behind her, saliva almost dripping from his mouth. Still, he calmed himself, not making a move immediately. Although he longed for the spoils to be his alone, he knew that acting alone wasn’t easy. One misstep could lead to capsizing in the gutter, so he chose to call a few companions. Once everyone was gathered, he led them to corner her in this alley.

"Don’t come any closer."

Wang Qingqing, her hair disheveled and looking like a frightened little bunny, glanced at the man who was closing in on her step by step. She tried to move back desperately but, unfortunately, there was nowhere left to retreat. She could only speak with a trembling voice tinged with sobs.

Now, she had none of the righteous aura she had displayed on the train, only endless terror and fear.

It wasn’t because she had lost some virtue, but rather, the danger in front of her was too horrifying and terrible. She was acutely aware of what might happen next. She wanted to scream for help, but with no one around and knowing that even if there were, it would be futile, she couldn’t help but feel desperate.

She had never imagined she would encounter this bastard here. If she had known, she definitely would not have taken the shortcut this way.

But now, it was too late for regrets.

"Seven, stop messing around. Get on with it and take her upstairs."

Lai Shitou snapped back from his pleasant anticipation to a thread of sanity. He barked orders at his lackeys, who wore leering smiles of lust on their faces. The place was secluded, but not completely devoid of the occasional passerby. More importantly, he feared the potential arrival of a meddler like the one they’d encountered on the train.

"Yes, Shitou,"

The man who initially wanted to tease Wang Qingqing further heard Lai Shitou’s command, dismissed the thought, and reached out to grab her arm, intending to pull her inside as Lai had instructed.

"Ah!"

However, just as his hand was extending towards her, suddenly a pained scream came from beside them.

His hand instinctively paused, and he turned his head in confusion.

"Third Bro, what happened to you?"

One of his companions had collapsed to the ground face-first, like a dog digging in the dirt, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth and whimpering in agony—he was completely bewildered by the situation and blurted out in shock.

The other thugs around him were just as surprised, their attention having been mostly on Wang Qingqing across from them, with almost no one noticing how their mate had ended up on the ground. Even Lai Shitou was utterly baffled.

"Ah!"

As everyone looked on in astonishment and confusion, another companion let out a scream. This time, everyone saw clearly as the man leapt forward bravely, only to fall face-first to the ground, sprawled out awkwardly.

Even the dimmest of them realized something was amiss, their gaze turning warily behind them.

"Kid, was it you who kicked them?"

Upon turning around, Lai Shitou froze completely, his face turning as pale as ash. Since the past incident, Xiao Yi’s appearance had been etched into his mind as someone to avoid at all costs—a reminder that if he ever saw him from afar, to keep his distance! He never expected to run into him again, and his mind buzzed at the sight of Xiao Yi’s cold gaze, as venomous as that of a snake. He wanted to say something but found himself speechless, staring blankly ahead.

However, the thugs beside him failed to notice their leader’s changed demeanor, and one particularly slimy-looking guy, standing next to Shitou, showed only a moment of hesitation upon seeing Xiao Yi, then shouted angrily.

"Are you alright?"

Xiao Yi ignored him and looked at Wang Qingqing across the way, her clothes in disarray and her face filled with fear. He asked her gently.
