Chapter 826: Chapter 822: Fishing Grounds

After Wang Hong and Qiang Zi left, Chen Yang didn’t stay at home either. He grabbed his car keys and headed out.

Today, he planned to take a trip to the county town to buy some household necessities, fertilizers for the medicinal field, and then check in on the River Fish Restaurant.

It had been quite a while since he last visited Yang Caiyun’s place, and he wondered how things were going.

With that thought in mind, Chen Yang drove straight to the county town.

Upon arriving, Chen Yang immediately headed to the wholesale market to purchase some fertilizer and daily necessities.

Once everything was loaded onto the car, he drove to the River Fish Restaurant.

Twenty minutes later, Chen Yang arrived at the restaurant’s entrance.

He parked his car and walked inside.

It was early morning, so the restaurant wasn’t busy—only a few staff members were tidying up and doing some cleaning.

The staff at the restaurant all knew Chen Yang, so they greeted him warmly as soon as they saw him.

"Boss Chen, long time no see! Here to see the boss lady?" one of the workers chuckled.

"Haha, that’s right. Where’s your boss lady?" Chen Yang replied with a smile.

"Boss Chen, she went out to stock up this morning. She hasn’t returned yet. You could head upstairs and wait for her," said the worker.

"Stock up? Where did she go? What’s she buying?"

Hearing about restocking, Chen Yang felt a bit puzzled. The River Fish Restaurant didn’t seem to be lacking anything.

"She went to a fish farm. I’ve heard that the price of river fish has gone up significantly recently, so the boss lady went to negotiate prices with suppliers," the worker answered.

"Oh, I see."

Chen Yang nodded, then considered waiting upstairs for a while.

But after thinking it over, he decided to call Yang Caiyun first to check when she’d be back.

If she was returning soon, he’d wait upstairs; if it would take time, he could drive over to find her.

Chen Yang dialed her number, and as soon as the call connected, he was met with the noisy sounds of people discussing prices—it felt just like a bustling marketplace.

"Caiyun-jie, I’m at your store right now. How much longer will you need?"

Chen Yang asked.

"Huh? Yang Zi, you’re at my store?"

Yang Caiyun paused for a moment, then apologized awkwardly, "I might need a bit more time, Yang Zi. Would you mind waiting for me at the store for now? I’ll try to hurry back."

"Eh... No, it’s fine. I’ll come over to you instead. Send me the fish farm’s address, and I’ll head there," Chen Yang said.

"Alright, that works."

Yang Caiyun agreed, then hung up and quickly sent Chen Yang the address.

After receiving the address, Chen Yang didn’t linger at the store. He set off immediately, following the GPS directions.

The fish farm Yang Caiyun was at was located in a small village not far from the River Fish Restaurant.

The village had flat terrain and was nestled by the river, which eventually led to its development as a fish farming hub where many fish merchants operated.

Although Chen Yang had never been there, he had heard about it.

Following the GPS directions, he drove steadily and soon arrived at the village home to the fish farm.

He parked his car at the village entrance and looked out over the fields, which were dotted with ponds of various sizes.

The field paths were bustling with people coming and going. Numerous fish buyers were moving back and forth along the paths, inspecting and purchasing river fish.

The scene was even livelier than the marketplace in the county town.

Seeing the crowd, Chen Yang thought about calling Yang Caiyun.

But before he could dial, his phone rang first.

"Hello, Caiyun-jie."

Chen Yang answered the call.

"Yang Zi, I can see you! Can you see me? I’m over here on the far right, waving at you!" said Yang Caiyun.

Hearing this, Chen Yang immediately glanced to the right and instantly spotted Yang Caiyun waving amidst the crowd.

"Alright, I see you."

"Okay, come over then. I’ll wait for you here."

After saying this, Chen Yang hung up and headed toward where Yang Caiyun was standing.

The field paths were naturally muddy, and with a crowd traversing back and forth, they were even more slippery and dirty.

Chen Yang barely started walking before his shoes were nearly covered in mud.

Since they were already dirty, he didn’t bother worrying and strode forward boldly.

He figured he could clean them later when he returned.

"Jie, how’s it going? Did you find any suitable fish?" Chen Yang asked as he reached Yang Caiyun’s side.

Seeing Chen Yang, Yang Caiyun smiled warmly and shook her head. "Not yet. Prices for river fish have shot up in the past few days. I’ve negotiated with many suppliers, but none of our discussions have worked out."

"Haha, this kind of thing can’t be rushed. Take your time negotiating. Want me to go with you for a look?" Chen Yang offered with a smile.

"Sure, why not? Let’s see if you can help me haggle the price down."

Yang Caiyun smiled and nodded, then naturally linked arms with Chen Yang.

As he felt the softness of her touch, warmth spread through Chen Yang, lighting a spark within him.

Mature women... They really had an allure.

"Ahem, Jie, take it slow. The path is slippery," Chen Yang coughed twice, speaking.

Noticing the subtle changes in Chen Yang’s demeanor, a faint blush rose on Yang Caiyun’s cheeks, making her look especially charming.

However, given the crowd, it was only a fleeting moment.

"Alright, I got it. Come on, let’s keep moving."

Yang Caiyun continued to hold onto Chen Yang as they walked forward, checking out one fish supplier after another.

This area was home to many vendors selling river fish. Their shops were essentially ponds stocked with fish moved from the river’s fish farms.

If you wanted a closer look, the vendors would fish out a couple for inspection. If they suited your needs, you’d start negotiating; if not, you’d move on.

At first, Chen Yang thought a few of the fish he saw looked decent and wanted to strike up conversations with the vendors. But Yang Caiyun dismissed them, explaining that she had already tried negotiating to no avail.

"Alright then, let’s check out some other places,"

Chen Yang nodded and continued walking.

They checked several more suppliers, but none of the fish seemed satisfactory. Finally, toward the end of their search, they came across a vendor whose fish looked promising.

"Boss, is your fish farm large in scale?"

Chen Yang asked the vendor standing in the pond.

The vendor, dressed in waterproof gear, had a cigarette in his mouth. As he smoked, he rolled it around, the cigarette already chewed into a sad state.

Hearing Chen Yang’s question, the vendor immediately turned his eyes to him.

"Young man, my fish farm is one of the top ones in this village. Don’t worry about that," the vendor replied confidently.

"Oh, good to know. We run a restaurant, so if we decide to order, it’ll definitely be a long-term supply contract," Chen Yang explained calmly. He didn’t rush to confirm a deal or inquire about prices. Instead, he laid out their long-term needs upfront, letting the vendor know they were big clients—this might help in negotiating better prices later.

Chen Yang’s little strategy did have some effect. Hearing this, the vendor immediately grew more interested.

"Oh, is that so? How much do you need per day, young man? That’ll help me gauge things better," the vendor asked with a grin.

When the vendor asked, Chen Yang glanced at Yang Caiyun.
