Chapter 822: Chapter 818: Make a Friend

Upon entering the house, Chen Yang maintained the most basic courtesy for guests and arranged chairs for the two visitors.

However, only Liu Qianshan sat down. The elderly man not only didn’t take a seat but instead stood behind Liu Qianshan, resembling a bodyguard.

Since the other person didn’t sit, Chen Yang didn’t mind.

He directly looked at Liu Qianshan and asked, "Alright, just say it. What kind of collaboration are you proposing?"

Chen Yang wasn’t familiar with Liu Qianshan, and they had even had minor clashes in the past. Hence, there was no need for unnecessary pleasantries. He cut straight to business.

Chen Yang’s straightforward attitude caught Liu Qianshan off guard.

Liu hesitated briefly, but quickly composed himself and laughed, "Alright, then. I’ll get straight to the point."

"Mr. Chen, the truth is, I came here not only to propose collaboration but also to make friends with you."

"I know that Mr. Chen has always wanted to establish a pharmaceutical factory and also planned to improve the village’s basic infrastructure. So this time, I brought along two contracts for you to review."

Liu Qianshan extended his hand, and the elderly man behind him handed over two documents, placing them into Liu’s hand. Then Liu moved them in front of Chen Yang.

Upon hearing these words, Chen Yang immediately knew that Liu had come well-prepared.

He also realized at that moment that Liu must have conducted significant investigations into him after returning from the mountains last time.

Otherwise, how would he know about all of this?

Chen Yang reached out and took the contracts, examining them thoroughly.

Of the two contracts, one had already been signed, while the other remained unsigned.

The signed one was an agreement between the Liu Family and the County Transportation Corporation. The document stated that starting tomorrow, a route to Liuhe Village would be opened.

From then on, Liuhe Village would have regular buses, allowing free travel to both the town and the county.

The other contract pertained to the pharmaceutical factory collaboration.

It outlined the general terms of the partnership.

The collaboration seemed fair—both sides would contribute funds. Once the factory was established, the Liu Family would provide the expertise, while Chen Yang would take charge of management.

"The pharmaceutical factory contract seems fine, but what does this transportation contract mean?" Chen Yang asked, picking up the transportation document.

"I hope to make friends with you, Mr. Chen, so you can consider this a little gesture from me," Liu Qianshan replied.

"Oh, I see."

Chen Yang nodded briefly, choosing not to dwell on this document further.

Instead, he shifted the conversation to the matter of the pharmaceutical factory.

Because that was the primary topic—only after coming to an agreement on this issue could he then consider whether to accept the so-called gesture.

"I do indeed want to build a pharmaceutical factory. If you’re genuinely willing to collaborate, I naturally agree, as it’s a win-win deal," Chen Yang said directly.

Upon hearing this, Liu Qianshan smiled.

"Alright then, since you have no objections, we can consider this matter settled."

Liu nodded, acknowledging their collaboration. Then, he explained some specifics about building the factory to Chen Yang.

"Mr. Chen, you and I are straightforward people, so I won’t say much more. When you have time, pick a suitable spot near the village. Once it’s decided, we can find an opportunity to sign the contract, and the matter will be finalized."

Liu Qianshan said.

After a brief moment of thought, Chen Yang nodded, "Alright, sounds good."

"Great. That’s all I had for now. Since everything’s settled, I won’t disturb you any further. I hope we have a pleasant collaboration ahead," Liu Qianshan said, standing up and extending his hand for a handshake.

Although Chen Yang didn’t fully understand Liu Qianshan, his impression so far wasn’t bad.

So he extended his hand and shook Liu’s.

After that, Liu handed Chen Yang a business card and promptly left his house.

Liu Qianshan arrived suddenly and departed quickly.

Watching Liu’s car leave Liuhe Village, Chen Yang felt slightly unsettled.

The negotiation had proceeded far too quickly—just a few words and it was done.

He had never handled anything so effortlessly before.

"Liu Qianshan... I should find time to investigate him more thoroughly and figure out what kind of person he really is,"

Chen Yang muttered under his breath before returning indoors to resume his breakfast.

Once he finished his breakfast, Chen Yang promptly picked up the contracts and headed to the village office to find Wu Kexin.

He knew that Wu Kexin’s family was also in the provincial capital, so she might be able to provide useful insights about Liu Qianshan.

More importantly, he wanted to show her the contracts Liu had left behind.

Since the village would soon have a bus route, as the village chief, she naturally had the right to be informed.

Carrying the contracts, Chen Yang arrived at the village office and discovered that Wu Kexin wasn’t in her room. So he naturally started up the stairs toward her second-floor office.

After all, if Wu wasn’t in her room, she’d definitely be in her office working.

Knock knock.

At the office door, Chen Yang knocked.

"Come in."

Wu Kexin’s voice came from inside, and Chen Yang pushed the door open and entered.

Seeing that it was Chen Yang, a faint smile appeared on Wu Kexin’s face.

"What brings you here so early today? Do you want me to accompany you to check on the school’s progress?" Wu Kexin joked with a smile.

Chen Yang chuckled and shook his head, "No, not that."

"Then what is it?" Wu Kexin asked in response.

Without dwelling on suspense, Chen Yang placed the two contracts in front of her.

"Liu Qianshan just came to me saying he wants to collaborate on a pharmaceutical factory. Here are the contracts; help me take a look," Chen Yang said.

"What? Liu Qianshan?"

Wu Kexin was visibly surprised upon hearing Liu Qianshan’s name.

Chen Yang nodded, "Yep, Liu Qianshan, the one from the Liu Family in the provincial capital."

"How did you end up dealing with him?" Wu Kexin had originally assumed it was a coincidence of matching names but was surprised that it truly referred to the Liu Qianshan she knew of.

"I ran into him once or twice when I went up the mountain with Wang Hong last time. Then the guy probably investigated me, so today he came over wanting to collaborate," Chen Yang briefly explained the mountain encounter before steering the conversation back to the main issue.

"Take a look at the contracts; tell me if there are any problems. Also, can you share insights about Liu Qianshan’s character and the Liu Family’s background so I can have a better understanding?"

Wu Kexin quickly understood after hearing Chen Yang’s explanation.

Without saying much further, she picked up the contracts and reviewed them carefully.

When she saw the transportation contract, her reaction mirrored Chen Yang’s initial response—she found it puzzling.

So Chen Yang proactively explained it to her.

He told her that the transportation contract was a kind of greeting gift from Liu Qianshan, who hinted at the possibility of more collaborations in the future.

After hearing Chen Yang’s explanation, Wu Kexin laughed.

"Looks like the Liu Family is trying to win you over," Wu Kexin said with a smile.

Chen Yang smiled in response. He had sensed a similar feeling but hadn’t explicitly mentioned it.

"Doesn’t matter whether it’s an attempt to win me over or not. As long as it doesn’t harm my interests or those of Liuhe Village, if they want to invest, I surely welcome it," Chen Yang replied.

"Good point," Wu Kexin nodded lightly before picking up the pharmaceutical factory contract for a careful read.

This contract took more time to review, as it was the primary document and required closer scrutiny, given the numerous clauses associated with establishing the factory.
