Chapter 778: Chapter 776 Here We Go Again
When they returned, Wang Hong had already brought along the bodyguards and prepared everything, just waiting for Chen Yang and Wang Qingyue to bring back the water.
As soon as the two came back, they immediately started cooking.
These tasks were handled by the bodyguards, so Chen Yang went back to the rock he had been sitting on earlier to rest.
Wang Qingyue, on the other hand, was talking to Wang Hong on the other side.
Although there was some distance, making it hard to hear, Chen Yang could tell from Wang Qingyue’s demeanor that she must be talking about their earlier encounter with Liu Qianshan.
Chen Yang, however, wasn’t in the mood to care about any of that at the moment. His mind was already occupied with thoughts about going to the downstream pond tonight.
Thinking of the pond and the mysterious creature, Chen Yang instinctively glanced over at Wang Qingyue.
Last time, if it hadn’t been for Wang Qingyue sneaking out to bathe in the middle of the night, he would’ve figured out what that mysterious creature truly was.
That being said, although he didn’t uncover the creature’s identity, he did manage to see something else... so it wasn’t exactly a loss.
Recalling Wang Qingyue’s elegance under the moonlight, Chen Yang couldn’t help but indulge in some wild thoughts.
But right at the pivotal moment, he remembered that they were just regular friends. Doing this felt somewhat immoral, so he forcibly pulled his thoughts back.
"Ahem, let’s hope she doesn’t go out again tonight."
Chen Yang coughed twice, silently made a wish, and prayed inwardly.
At this point, the food was ready.
"Brother Chen Yang, come over for dinner," Wang Hong called out, inviting Chen Yang to join them.
Chen Yang responded with an "Alright" and headed over.
As always, Wang Hong’s preparations were just as thorough as last time.
Even though they were in the mountains, the food didn’t seem any different from what they’d have outside.
White rice, stir-fried dishes, paired with drinks and beer... After a tiring day, eating these was indeed quite satisfying.
"Brother Chen Yang, thanks for helping us out this time and guiding us here. Cheers to you first." Wang Hong suddenly raised his beer and proposed a toast to Chen Yang as they ate.
Seeing this, Chen Yang raised his beer as well.
"No need for formalities. Just make sure the paycheck comes through." Chen Yang joked.
Upon hearing this, Wang Hong laughed heartily and patted his chest boldly. "Brother Chen Yang, don’t worry about that. I, Wang Hong, will never shortchange you."
Chen Yang’s words were meant to be a joke, but seeing Wang Hong’s serious response, he didn’t bother explaining himself.
After all, he was short on money lately, so taking what was due to him wasn’t unreasonable. Besides, for the wealthy Wang Family, a few hundred thousand was just a few days’ worth of living expenses.
No harm done.
"Alright, I won’t refuse then."
Chen Yang readily agreed. The two clinked glasses and downed their drinks in one gulp.
After finishing the beer, they continued eating and chatting merrily.
Unknowingly, the sky had turned dark.
Once they’d eaten their fill, Wang Hong instructed the bodyguards to tidy up a bit. Then, after sitting outside for a while, they all headed into the wooden cabin when it felt like the right time.
After a long day and a little alcohol, everyone fell asleep quickly upon entering the cabin.
Chen Yang, however, stayed awake.
When he realized quite some time had passed and that Wang Hong and the others were in deep sleep, he quietly got up and slipped out of the cabin.
Outside the cabin, visibility was decent—the moon tonight was just as bright as it had been before.
The moonlight illuminated the forest, casting a blanket of silver upon everything.
Chen Yang looked up at the moon for a moment, but without lingering, he turned and began following the stream downstream.
At first, his strides were quick, but as he approached the pond, he slowed down considerably, treading carefully.
By the time he reached the bushes near the pond, Chen Yang’s steps were virtually silent.
He knew the mysterious creature was lightning-fast, highly responsive, and would flee at the slightest sound.
One little noise could ruin everything tonight, so he had to be extremely careful.
Having let the creature escape several times before, he was determined to figure out what it was this time.
Chen Yang even suppressed his breathing, cautiously slipping into the bushes. Through the gaps in the branches, he peeked at the pond.
But the pond was empty.
Chen Yang wasn’t disappointed though. He knew the mysterious creature was mobile—it not being there now didn’t mean it wouldn’t show up later.
Chen Yang discreetly took out his phone and glanced at it.
"Ten o’clock... If it hasn’t shown up by eleven, I’ll leave."
Chen Yang thought to himself, then turned off his phone screen and began waiting patiently in the bushes.
He had no shortage of patience and remained motionless, keeping his eyes fixed firmly on the pond from ten o’clock to ten-thirty.
Half an hour passed, and Chen Yang figured the creature should have shown up by now.
Unexpectedly, there was no activity near the pond. Instead, he heard sounds coming from upstream.
Listening to the noises approaching from the upper stream, Chen Yang couldn’t help but feel a wave of exasperation.
Of course, whatever you fear is what ends up happening.
This was undoubtedly that girl Wang Qingyue showing up... again.
Sure enough, as Chen Yang stewed in silent frustration, Wang Qingyue slowly came into view.
He watched her walk toward the pond, glance left and right, then begin to undress. Chen Yang felt an indescribable mix of emotions.
"This girl honestly can’t go a single day without bathing..."
Chen Yang gritted his teeth, thinking about their usual friendship. He decided he wouldn’t take advantage and prepared to leave quietly.
But before his body could move, he suddenly noticed something—a slight movement in the opposite bushes.
The motion was faint, something most would overlook, but Chen Yang’s sharp senses caught it immediately.
He was instantly invigorated!
He ducked back down, abandoning the idea of leaving altogether.
Although he didn’t want to take advantage of Wang Qingyue, he couldn’t let his efforts go to waste. After days of stalking, he wasn’t about to give up like this.
"Wang Qingyue, I’m not doing this on purpose, so don’t blame me,"
Chen Yang muttered to himself, trying to ease his moral guilt.
As he crouched back down, Wang Qingyue had already finished undressing.
Her flawless figure, bathed in the silver moonlight, looked utterly mesmerizing...
*Gulp.*
Chen Yang, who had been focusing on the bushes, subconsciously allowed his gaze to drift toward Wang Qingyue’s figure.
No man could resist such a scene.
As his eyes landed on Wang Qingyue, she began to step into the pond.
Once her figure was fully submerged in the water, Chen Yang swallowed hard again, forcing himself to redirect his focus to the opposite bushes.
Ready to strike at any moment.
Tonight, he’d made up his mind.
No matter what, he was determined to find out what this mysterious creature was.
Even if it meant Wang Qingyue would realize he’d seen something he wasn’t supposed to... He had to uncover its identity or even catch it outright!
