Chapter 721: Chapter 719: Bargaining
"I’m back, what’s up Yang Zi, you looking for me for something?" Gao Ya answered with a smile.
"Hehe, nothing much, just wanted to ask if you’d like to have dinner together? Haven’t seen you in a long time." Chen Yang, realizing there was no one with Gao Ya, spoke with such straightforwardness.
Gao Ya felt quite happy upon hearing this.
"Sure, that’s no problem. Where shall we eat?"
"Hmm, let’s decide when the time comes. I’ll drive to your hotel to pick you up at 5:30."
"Hmm, okay."
Gao Ya agreed very decisively, which somewhat surprised Chen Yang.
But it was a good thing, so Chen Yang didn’t think too much about it.
Having arranged dinner for the evening, Chen Yang didn’t feel like taking a nap anymore.
It would be boring to stay at home, so he decided to go for a stroll in the town and then pick up Gao Ya when it was time.
He locked the door and drove straight away.
In about half an hour, he arrived in town.
Checking the time, it was just a bit past two, somewhat early.
Parking the car by the roadside, he pondered for a moment and then started the vehicle again, heading straight for Yang Ruoxi’s shop which was being renovated.
He hadn’t called Yang Ruoxi in advance before going.
He just guessed that she was definitely in the shop.
Indeed, he wasn’t wrong; at that moment, Yang Ruoxi was busy helping the workers in the shop.
Seeing Yang Ruoxi’s figure, Chen Yang parked the car and walked in.
Yang Ruoxi was surprised to suddenly see Chen Yang.
"Chen Yang, what brings you here?"
But it was just a moment of surprise, as before Chen Yang could even respond, she immediately called him over to help.
The renovation of the shop was almost complete, and they were installing some equipment.
Despite the workers being busy in the shop, it was unclear why Yang Ruoxi insisted on moving things herself.
"I’m here."
Chen Yang nonetheless responded and lent a hand.
After placing the item in the right spot, Yang Ruoxi dusted off her hands and began to ask Chen Yang how he knew she was there.
"Hehe, just guessed it. Looking at your recent state, I figured you must be in the shop every day," Chen Yang said with a laugh.
Yang Ruoxi saw that he had guessed correctly and her face showed a slight hint of not wanting to admit it.
But she didn’t say much and instead inquired if Chen Yang had come looking for her for any particular reason.
"No reason, just passing by and wanted to see how your shop is coming along. When do you plan to open for business?" Chen Yang replied.
Upon hearing this question, Yang Ruoxi suddenly puffed up with pride, her neck held high.
"Hehe, now you’ve seen it, I’m very efficient at my work. In just one or two weeks, I’ve got everything renovated," Yang Ruoxi said proudly.
Chen Yang looked around and noticed that everything in the shop did indeed look proper and well-organized.
To achieve this in such a short time was no simple feat.
"Hehe, yeah, not bad, quite fast," Chen Yang nodded in approval.
"Of course," Yang Ruoxi said even more proudly upon hearing the praise.
She puffed up her chest, resembling a proud swan.
Chen Yang saw her like this and chuckled, shaking his head without bursting her bubble.
After her moment of pride, Yang Ruoxi suddenly asked if Chen Yang had something later, if not, she wanted him to do her a favor.
Chen Yang looked puzzled: "Do you a favor for what?"
"Hehe, you’ve seen it, my shop is almost ready, and all the workers are in place. With this progress, I can open in a few days."
"So, I was hoping you could accompany me to the flower shop, to buy some celebratory baskets to put at the door, make it look festive."
Yang Ruoxi was beaming with joy, bursting with excitement.
"Hmm..."
Chen Yang hesitated for a moment, checked the time on his wrist and saw it was still early, and then finally nodded in agreement.
"It’s fine, but I have something else at five-thirty, so you’ll need to keep an eye on the time."
"Alright, alright, that’s plenty of time. How long can buying a few flower baskets take? Don’t worry about it." Once Yang Ruoxi saw Chen Yang agree, she immediately grabbed his arm and rushed out.
Then, she quickly found Chen Yang’s car and hopped in.
Chen Yang shook his head helplessly, also got in the car, and then started it up, beginning the search for a florist nearby.
Following the GPS for about ten minutes, the two arrived at a florist that looked quite nice.
"Good day, sir and madam, what sort of flowers would you like to see? Are you here for some wedding roses?"
Perhaps it was because the two looked so well-matched, or maybe because they seemed so close to each other.
As they entered the store, the clerk asked if they were there to buy flowers for a wedding decoration.
Upon hearing this, Yang Ruoxi’s face turned red in an instant.
Chen Yang also felt a bit awkward, but it was much less so compared to Yang Ruoxi.
"No, we’re buying some flower baskets for a shop opening," Chen Yang explained.
"Oh, I see, my apologies. Please follow me." Once the clerk realized the mistake, he became a bit embarrassed, apologized, and then led the two deeper into the store.
He brought them to a large selection of flower baskets and began introducing them.
Initially, Chen Yang was in a good mood, but as he listened to the clerk’s pitch, his expression turned slightly displeased.
The store really knew how to create gimmicks; although it was the same type of flower, just decorated differently, they had given them different names.
And of course, the prices were significantly higher.
Wasn’t this just a blatant smart tax?
Although Chen Yang was wealthy and didn’t care much about the money, he wasn’t one to squander it without thought.
So he began a battle of wits with the clerk, starting to haggle over the price.
The clerk had originally thought they were a young couple who would be easy to deal with, but Chen Yang’s brisk haggling took her by surprise.
Still, being a salesperson, she had a strong ability to react.
So the two of them went back and forth, jokingly bargaining with each other.
The salesperson was initially quite firm, unwilling to go down by much.
Seeing this, Chen Yang immediately played his trump card: "The price still isn’t right. I think I’ll have a look elsewhere."
After finishing his statement, he started to pull Yang Ruoxi, ready to leave.
As soon as the salesperson saw the situation, she relented.
She hurried to take a step back and persuaded Chen Yang to stay.
"Ah, sir, sir, don’t go yet. We can still talk things over."
Chen Yang couldn’t help but laugh hearing this, but quickly straightened his face, turned around seriously and replied, "The price I offered is reasonable. Any higher, and I won’t consider it."
"Uh..."
The salesperson looked troubled yet only pondered for a second or two before agreeing with Chen Yang.
"Alright, alright, we’ll go with your price then. I’m practically cutting into my own commission with this sale, just to hit the monthly targets."
The salesperson agreed, albeit reluctantly.
Chen Yang just smiled, not saying much more.
He then selected the flower baskets needed and paid for Yang Ruoxi.
"The payment’s done. No need to deliver the baskets, I’ve driven here myself, just load them onto my car," Chen Yang told the salesperson after completing the transfer.
"Of course, sir, I’ll get them ready for you right away."
The salesperson nodded politely, then called over two workers to load the selected flower baskets into Chen Yang’s car.
After everything was loaded, Chen Yang took Yang Ruoxi and returned to the shop.
