Chapter 785 - 785 783 Prosperous Wealth
785: Chapter 783: Prosperous Wealth 785: Chapter 783: Prosperous Wealth Seeing them all disappear from sight, Chen Yang couldn’t hold back his laughter.
Just now, in order to make them believe he had actually eaten the Gu Pill, he forced himself not to laugh.
“So gullible, do you think Gu Pills are that easy to make?”
Chen Yang chuckled and shook his head, then turned to look at the large wolfdog.
This large wolfdog had been terrified of Chen Yang moments ago, but perhaps due to eating the Taming Pill, it now seemed to feel a hint of affection for him, so it wasn’t as frightened anymore.
At least, it was no longer trembling uncontrollably.
“Xunbiao?
Is that your name?”
Chen Yang stared at the large wolfdog for a few seconds before speaking to it.
Woof.
The large wolfdog barked flatly as if agreeing.
Chen Yang frowned.
“That name is way too awful.
Now that you’re with me, I’ll give you a nicer name.”
He stroked his chin and began to think.
Since this fellow would be following him from now on, there was no way it could keep its old name.
He had to come up with something better.
But giving names was never Chen Yang’s strong suit.
Coming up with names had always been his Achilles’ heel.
He stood there racking his brain for several minutes but couldn’t come up with a decent name.
Finally, annoyed, he blurted out a name: “Let’s call you Lucky.
Lucky, Lucky, may you bring me wealth.”
Chen Yang waved his hand dismissively as he spoke.
Thankfully, there was no one else around.
If someone were nearby and saw how long he took to come up with such a basic name, they might have burst out laughing on the spot.
But Lucky, being a dog, no matter how clever it was, couldn’t possibly understand the meaning behind the name.
Hearing it had a new name, the dog immediately wagged its tail and barked excitedly.
It even seemed thrilled.
“Heh, you really change your tune fast, don’t you?” Chen Yang couldn’t help but laugh as he patted its head.
Noticing it was almost noon, Chen Yang quickly returned to the wooden cabin to check the supplies Wang Hong had left for him.
“Not bad, there’s a decent variety—rice, meat.
I can have a proper meal for lunch.”
After inspecting everything, Chen Yang was quite satisfied.
He had initially thought he’d have to catch his own meat to eat.
To his surprise, Wang Hong had actually left some meat behind for him.
With ingredients ready, Chen Yang didn’t bother over-complicating things and just got cooking outside the wooden cabin.
There was plenty of firewood and water, making it incredibly convenient—just like being at home.
It didn’t take long for Chen Yang to finish preparing the meal.
Just as he picked up his chopsticks, ready to dig in, he heard two faint whimpers.
Turning his head, Chen Yang saw Lucky and remembered there was now an extra mouth to feed; he couldn’t just eat by himself.
“Hungry?” Chen Yang asked tentatively.
Woof.
Lucky barked without hesitation, clearly expressing its hunger.
Chen Yang smiled faintly.
“Alright, let me see if there’s any meat left for you.”
Standing up, he went into the wooden cabin again.
From the stash Wang Hong had left, he managed to find a palm-sized piece of meat.
He looked at the meat, then at Lucky’s large frame, figuring it should be enough.
Without hesitation, he tossed all of it to the dog.
“Don’t waste it.
Eat it all.”
Chen Yang said.
Lucky, apparently famished, didn’t even glance back at Chen Yang.
As soon as the meat landed in front of it, it lunged forward and started devouring it like a whirlwind.
Watching how it ate, Chen Yang couldn’t suppress a chuckle.
He realized that Lucky was truly a peculiar creature.
When they first met, it had seemed ferocious, ready to fight to the death.
Then, it turned timid and cowardly in no time at all.
Now, its attitude had flipped again, warming up to him completely, eating whatever he gave it without a shred of caution.
In just one or two hours, it had shown three different personalities—a truly unique dog.
Chen Yang shook his head, amused, and while Lucky was focused on eating, he threw a few more Taming Pills into its food for it to eat unknowingly.
No matter how peculiar it was, after eating the pills, it was now officially Chen Yang’s dog.
As for the dog’s personality, Chen Yang figured that could be adjusted over time.
Not bothering with Lucky anymore, Chen Yang turned back to finish his meal.
After lunch, he rested for a while, then headed out to explore the nearby area.
He gathered some quality herbs and familiarized himself with the surroundings.
Chen Yang had only been to this deep mountain area twice before, so he wasn’t very familiar with the terrain.
Since he had idle time, he figured he might as well explore.
It could come in handy the next time he ventured into the mountains to gather herbs.
Chen Yang spent the entire afternoon wandering around the stream.
By late afternoon, around four or five o’clock, Chen Yang returned to the wooden cabin with Lucky.
Not long after Chen Yang was back, Wang Hong and Wang Qingyue’s group also returned.
Judging from their appearance, they had clearly spent a long day climbing and trekking, as everyone was panting heavily—especially Wang Qingyue, whose face was flushed and drenched with sweat.
“Hey, where did that dog come from?”
As soon as they returned to the campsite, Wang Qingyue immediately noticed Lucky, who was panting with its tongue out while squatting beside the wooden cabin.
Lucky also noticed them, but its first reaction wasn’t to bark.
Instead, it kept quiet until it saw Chen Yang walk out of the cabin.
Then it started barking.
Woof woof woof!
It bared its teeth, growling fiercely, as if ready to lunge and bite.
Wang Qingyue, Wang Hong, and the others were startled by the large wolfdog’s aggression and immediately prepared to defend themselves.
However, Lucky didn’t charge at them—it merely barked ferociously.
Chen Yang was already familiar with Lucky’s antics and found the situation rather exasperating.
Was this dog really trying to flex its muscles now?
“Lucky, stop barking.
They’re with me.”
Chen Yang said, clearly unimpressed.
Lucky was obedient enough.
As soon as Chen Yang spoke, it promptly shut its mouth.
Seeing that the dog knew Chen Yang, Wang Qingyue and Wang Hong relaxed their guard.
Curious, Wang Qingyue looked at Chen Yang.
“Chen Yang, where did this dog come from?”
Chen Yang had already prepared an explanation earlier that afternoon while gathering herbs with Lucky, so he responded without hesitation, “I’m not sure.
It suddenly ran out of the forest at noon.
It seemed really friendly with me, so I just kept it.”
Wang Hong didn’t think much of it.
To him, it was just a dog—nothing unusual about that.
But Wang Qingyue found it a bit curious.
“Is it a stray dog?
Or maybe it got lost in the mountains?”
Woof woof woof!
As soon as Wang Qingyue finished speaking, Lucky barked at her, as if it understood and was displeased with being called a stray.
Chen Yang could only laugh wryly.
“Probably not.
Anyway, I’m not sure.
I named it Lucky, and don’t worry—it won’t bite.”
Chen Yang explained with a smile.
“Oh, alright then.” Wang Qingyue glanced at Lucky one more time but didn’t dwell on it.
After a long, exhausting day, none of them had the energy to care about such things.
As soon as they returned to the campsite, all they wanted was to find a place to sit and rest.
Wang Hong and Wang Qingyue, along with the bodyguards, sat down to rest and took a few sips of water.
Once they caught their breath, Wang Hong glanced at Lucky again.
Lucky was a large wolfdog with an impressive build, making it appear quite imposing.
At first, Wang Hong didn’t think much of it, but the more he looked, the more he felt the dog seemed familiar.
Unable to hold back, he asked, “Chen Yang, does this dog have any distinctive features?
I feel like I’ve seen it somewhere before.”
“I feel the same way.
It seems like I’ve seen it before, too.”
As soon as Wang Hong mentioned it, Wang Qingyue immediately echoed the sentiment.
