Chapter 560 - 560 558
560: 558 560: 558 On the other side, after leaving the police station, Chen Yang directly took Xia Qianqian onto the van.
In the van, Chen Yang carefully inquired about the causes and consequences of these events from Xia Qianqian.
Through questioning, Chen Yang understood the entire story.
It turned out that Lu Haio and a few others had been pestering Xia Qianqian for quite some time.
The reason they were pestering Xia Qianqian was that Lu Haio had acknowledged an older brother outside of school, and this older brother took a fancy to the mature and beautiful Xia Qianqian, which was why he repeatedly asked Lu Haio to invite Xia Qianqian out to hang out.
But Xia Qianqian knew their motivations were impure, so she refused every time with an excuse.
This time, it was probably because they had completely lost their patience, which was why they resorted to violence against Xia Qianqian.
After listening to Xia Qianqian’s account, Chen Yang had a clear idea in his mind.
“Qianqian, I know the situation now.
You don’t worry, with your uncle here, I won’t let you be bullied.
Those who bullied you in the past, I will make them pay the price,” Chen Yang said with a frown, already having a plan in mind on how to deal with Lu Haio and his companions.
“Mhm, mhm, I believe you, Uncle Chen Yang,” nodded Xia Qianqian with emotion, feeling a mysterious trust in Chen Yang.
“Alright, don’t think too much about it.
Let’s go back home now.
Your mom will be worried if we’re any later.” Chen Yang smiled and patted Xia Qianqian’s hair to comfort her, then started the van and took her back home.
It was perhaps because she had experienced such things too often, or maybe due to the safety she felt from Chen Yang’s words.
After returning home, it seemed that Xia Qianqian had completely forgotten about the incident that had just taken place.
As soon as she entered the door, she hugged Yang Caiyun with no hint of anything being wrong and even excitedly asked if the food was ready.
At past seven in the evening, it was the busiest time in the restaurant, and Yang Caiyun was extremely busy; there was no time to cook.
“Not yet?
Are you hungry so early today?
How about you go out to eat with Uncle Chen Yang?” suggested Yang Caiyun with a smile.
“No, that’s alright.
I’ll wait for you to finish and then we can eat together,” Xia Qianqian pouted, and with her backpack on, she went upstairs.
Chen Yang was still standing at the counter.
“Where did you two go just now?
Why are you coming back at this hour?” After watching Xia Qianqian go upstairs, Yang Caiyun finally asked Chen Yang what they had been up to.
“Nothing much, we just played around for a while on the way,” Chen Yang replied after some thought.
Chen Yang had initially wanted to share what had happened today with Yang Caiyun, but upon further consideration, he felt it was inappropriate to do so before the issue was resolved.
So Chen Yang simply made up an excuse.
Yang Caiyun didn’t think much of it, acknowledged with an “oh,” and continued to be preoccupied with the accounts.
At that time, the restaurant was in full swing, and there wasn’t much Chen Yang could do to help.
After standing at the counter for a short while, he also went upstairs.
Reaching the upper floor, Chen Yang lay on Yang Caiyun’s bed, hands cushioning his head, staring blankly at the ceiling.
After spacing out for about half an hour, Chen Yang suddenly sat up, then quickly took out his phone to call Yang Tiancheng.
The call connected within a few rings, and Yang Tiancheng answered.
“Uncle Yang, something unexpected came up at home today.
Is it possible to delay the inspection trip to the provincial city?” asked Chen Yang straightforwardly after the call was connected.
Yang Tiancheng was somewhat surprised that Chen Yang would call about this.
After a silence of two to three seconds, he nodded and agreed.
“That’s fine, going the day after tomorrow is no different.”
“Mhm, mhm, I appreciate it, Uncle Yang,” Chen Yang said, expressing his thanks and then hung up the call.
After the call ended, Chen Yang immediately stood up from the bed and went downstairs, ready to leave the house.
Yang Caiyun, tallying the accounts at the front desk, saw Chen Yang rushing past and hurriedly asked where he was going in such a haste.
“I’m going out for a walk, to get some fresh air,” Chen Yang tossed out an excuse and left directly.
Yang Caiyun didn’t think much about it and merely reminded him to be mindful of the time before letting Chen Yang go.
After leaving the river fish restaurant, Chen Yang immediately got into his van and headed to the county town.
Following the navigation on the map, he located a shop that sold recording devices.
Chen Yang glanced at the shop and, finding it looked quite legitimate, parked and went inside.
Shops like these were seldom frequented by customers, and now that it was already evening, there was not a single person in the shop.
Chen Yang walked in, looked around, and eventually noticed an old man tinkering with some equipment in a corner of the shop.
The old man was so engrossed in his work that he didn’t even notice Chen Yang’s entrance.
“Are you the owner of this shop?” Since the other party didn’t notice him, Chen Yang took the initiative and walked over to ask.
Upon hearing his voice, the old man instantly turned around with a smile and nodded, “Yes, yes, I am the owner of this shop.
What do you need?”
“What else would I come here for if not a recording device?”
Chen Yang stated emotionlessly.
“Heh, that’s true.” The shopkeeper chuckled, moved behind the counter, and began to inquire about the specific requirements Chen Yang had in mind.
“Smaller in size, clearer sound quality, larger memory,” Chen Yang said.
The shopkeeper paused briefly upon hearing this, evidently surprised by Chen Yang’s requests.
But it was just for a moment, and soon his face was all smiles again.
“Hehe, those are pretty high requirements, but I’ve got just the thing in my shop.” The shopkeeper laughed, then immediately began rummaging through the counter.
After about two or three minutes, he brought out a package the size of a watch box and added, “Take a look at this, it’s got the best sound quality in my shop.”
Chen Yang glanced at the packaging and then weighed it in his hands, “Can I open it to have a look?”
“Of course, you can.”
The shopkeeper nodded, and Chen Yang proceeded to open the package.
Inside was a small rectangular recording pen – not too large, but it felt substantial.
It had a heft to it that suggested it was a high-end product.
“The quality of the goods in my shop is unquestionable; now it’s up to you to decide whether you like its appearance.” The shopkeeper kept an eye on Chen Yang’s expression and, sensing that Chen Yang seemed to like it, immediately started praising his products.
But Chen Yang wasn’t listening to his spiel at all.
He was more interested in having the shopkeeper turn it on to test the sound quality.
After confirming that both the appearance and the sound quality were satisfactory, Chen Yang simply asked, “How much is it?”
“Heh, one thousand three hundred.”
The shopkeeper replied with a twinkling smile.
“Okay, I’ll send it to you,” Chen Yang decisively responded, not even bothering to haggle and promptly made the payment.
The shopkeeper, seeing such a straightforward customer, was overjoyed and even started to flatter him on the spot.
He complimented Chen Yang on his discerning eye and knowledge of the product.
Chen Yang didn’t listen to these words; instead, after playing around with the device for a bit, he looked up at the shopkeeper and asked him to teach him how to turn it on and off, and how to play the recordings.
Given how swiftly Chen Yang had paid, requesting a brief tutorial like this was hardly unreasonable.
The shopkeeper enthusiastically began to explain to Chen Yang.
“You press this, and it’s the power switch.
Listening to the recordings can be a bit tricky, let me show you…” The shopkeeper instructed thoroughly.
Chen Yang caught on in no time.
After he had learned, he took the recording pen and left straight away.
