Chapter 156 - 156 156 As if One of the Family
156: Chapter 156 As if One of the Family 156: Chapter 156 As if One of the Family When Chen Yang woke up the next day, he found that he and Nizi were still in the same position as when they fell asleep, without any change.
Their bodies were tightly pressed together.
Feeling Nizi’s soft body, Chen Yang’s heart was filled with ripples of emotion.
Especially at this time in the morning, the flames that had dissipated last night were kindling once again.
He had the thought of waking Nizi up and then continuing.
Though he thought this, he didn’t actually follow through.
His hand, however, was somewhat restless, wandering over Nizi’s body for a while.
It wasn’t until he noticed that it was really not early outside that Chen Yang reluctantly withdrew his hand and got dressed to get up.
The first thing Chen Yang did after getting out of bed was to go to the infirmary to check on Heipi’s condition.
At that time, he found Heipi sound asleep, snoring away.
Seeing his appearance, it seemed that he had only fallen asleep late last night and had only started to sleep like this in the morning.
Seeing that Heipi was sleeping soundly, Chen Yang didn’t go over to check the wound, but instead pulled the door closed and went to the backyard to wander around.
He prepared some carrots and cabbages along with some nourishing pills and threw them into the pigsty.
The wild pigs saw that Chen Yang had come to feed them and immediately got up, then started to eat with great enthusiasm.
These three wild pigs had been at Chen Yang’s home for some time now.
In just a short month, they had each gained at least a hundred pounds.
This rate of weight gain was certainly fast.
“Hurry up and grow, then help give birth to a few little wild pigs.
When the time comes, I’ll build you a bigger nest and set up a wild pig farm,” Chen Yang muttered with a smile and then turned to leave the backyard.
After leaving the backyard, Chen Yang went to the field where he planted tendons grass, pulled some weeds, and put them into the wild rabbit farm.
After finishing the feeding, Chen Yang then returned home to prepare breakfast.
By the time Chen Yang returned home, Nizi had already gotten up.
The two glanced at each other, and Nizi’s face turned slightly red.
“Are you hungry?
I’ll make you breakfast,” Chen Yang said with a natural smile.
Nizi blushed as she glanced at Chen Yang and then said softly, “Chen Yang, let me cook breakfast for you today.”
When Nizi suddenly said she wanted to make breakfast for him, Chen Yang was slightly stunned.
Then he smiled and nodded, “Yeah, sure!
Your cooking was good yesterday, today let’s see how well you can make noodles.”
“Mmm-hmm,” Nizi responded shyly with a nod, and then headed to the kitchen.
Seeing Nizi’s shy demeanor, Chen Yang couldn’t help but smile.
After what happened last night…
Nizi must have completely considered herself as his person, right?
After Nizi went to make breakfast, Chen Yang didn’t idle around either.
He filled a bucket with corn kernels, mixed in some nourishing pills, and immediately went to the pheasant farm.
After observing the last time, Chen Yang realized that the pheasant farm didn’t have enough food either.
To prevent the pheasants from starving, he decided that he would need to go feed them every day.
Only by ensuring they weren’t hungry could they grow quickly.
Upon reaching the farm, Chen Yang opened the iron door and poured all the corn kernels inside.
As soon as the corn was poured out, dozens of shadows rushed out from the surrounding bushes.
They were all pheasants coming out for food!
Chen Yang watched the pheasants for a while with a smile, then realizing it was getting late, he headed back home.
When he got home, he immediately smelled the aroma of noodles.
“Wow!
It smells amazing!
Nizi, what kind of noodles did you make?” Chen Yang couldn’t help exclaiming, then walked into the inner room to see what noodles Nizi had made.
Upon entering the inner room, he saw two steaming bowls of meat noodles on the dining table.
Chen Yang wasn’t very hungry at first, but upon seeing the fragrant noodles, his stomach immediately started to growl.
Hearing the protest from Chen Yang’s stomach, Nizi couldn’t help but laugh, then she pulled a stool over to the table.
“Chen Yang, you better eat quickly, it won’t taste good once it gets cold.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Chen Yang nodded with a smile and sat down to eat.
After just one bite, he couldn’t help but widen his eyes and make a sound of approval.
“Mmm!
Delicious!
Your meat noodles are really tasty.”
Blushing at Chen Yang’s praise, Nizi’s face immediately showed embarrassment.
“Chen Yang…
aren’t you exaggerating a bit?
Are my noodles really that tasty?”
Chen Yang nodded seriously, “It really is that delicious, I’m not exaggerating at all!”
“Really?” Seeing Chen Yang’s earnest attitude, Nizi couldn’t help but break into a smile.
“Of course, don’t believe me?
Try it yourself,” Chen Yang suggested, pointing to Nizi’s own bowl.
With some skepticism, Nizi picked up her chopsticks and tasted a mouthful.
She, too, couldn’t help exclaiming in surprise.
“Wow!
It really is delicious!”
Chen Yang chuckled, “How about that?
I didn’t lie to you, did I?”
“Mhm,” Nizi nodded, smiling sweetly.
After that, the two fell silent and quietly enjoyed their breakfast.
Once breakfast was finished, it was already past nine o’clock.
At this time, Chen Yang was thinking of going to the greenhouse to check things out.
But suddenly, he heard some footsteps at the door.
Chen Yang went out to see that it was Blackie’s group of underlings who had arrived.
“Yang…
Brother Yang…
How’s Blackie doing?” The underlings caught sight of Chen Yang coming out from the house, and one of them stepped forward, asking somewhat awkwardly.
Hearing himself addressed as Brother Yang, Chen Yang was a little taken aback but said nothing more.
“Should be nothing serious, he’s still resting.
You guys can go and see him, but try not to make too much noise,” Chen Yang replied.
“Okay, thanks Brother Yang,” they quickly thanked him and then headed to the sickroom with the group.
Chen Yang watched them for a bit and, without saying much, took Nizi with him to the greenhouse.
The condition of the wild mushrooms was now of the utmost importance; Chen Yang checked on them several times a day in the greenhouse.
Fearing any unexpected issues arising.
Upon entering the greenhouse, Chen Yang walked around the entire structure for a thorough inspection.
The wild mushrooms had grown significantly larger than the day before.
When he had looked yesterday, they were merely little dots, but today they had grown much larger than a thumb.
At this rate, it seemed they might be ready for harvesting and selling in just a day or two.
After making a round and seeing no issues, Chen Yang pulled out two hoses, ready to water the mushrooms.
Seeing Chen Yang with the hoses, Nizi stepped forward sensibly, took one of them, and began to help him water.
Although the greenhouse was not large, watering by one person was still hard work.
But with Nizi’s help, the work went much faster.
Within just ten minutes, they were done.
“Chen Yang, what shall we do now that we’ve finished watering?” Nizi asked with a smile after putting down the hose.
Chen Yang took her hand and walked out of the greenhouse.
“Let’s go back and see how Blackie is getting on,” he said.
As they talked, they returned to the infirmary.
By this time, Blackie had already awakened.
The already small sickroom was crowded with Blackie’s gang of underlings.
They were chattering about something, but as soon as they saw Chen Yang, they instantly fell silent.
“How do you feel?
Any better?” Chen Yang asked Blackie as he walked into the room.
Blackie lay in bed immobilized, only his eyes able to move.
“Heh, much better, it doesn’t hurt that much anymore,” Blackie answered with a strained smile.
“As long as it’s not too painful,” Chen Yang smiled briefly, pulled over a stool to sit beside the bed, and picked up a pair of tweezers to peel back a dressing and check on the wound.
After carefully examining the wound for a moment, Chen Yang covered it back up with the gauze.
“Looks like you’re lucky, the wolf that bit you wasn’t carrying any viruses.
Otherwise, your situation would’ve been much more troublesome,” Chen Yang remarked calmly.
Upon hearing this, Blackie’s expression shifted slightly.
“Indeed, it’s a stroke of luck.”
“Why venture into the mountains and provoke a pack of wolves for no reason?
Really,” Chen Yang said, shaking his head in disbelief.
With a wry smile, Blackie said, “It was someone’s request, to check something in the mountains.
But who knew I would run into a pack of wolves.”
“And I never expected those wolves to suddenly go crazy and chase after me, biting like they were out of their minds!”
Blackie’s expression was one of utter helplessness, as if encountering the wolf pack had been a stroke of sheer bad luck.
