Chapter 117 - 117 117 Pitching the Tent

117: Chapter 117 Pitching the Tent 117: Chapter 117 Pitching the Tent Chen Yang chuckled and shook his head, then found a relatively quiet and flat area to lie down.

Just as he lay down, Brother Eagle also flew overhead, circling above Chen Yang’s head.

Chen Yang waved his hand, and Brother Eagle descended.

Chirp.

Brother Eagle landed beside Chen Yang and hopped over.

Chen Yang petted Brother Eagle for a while, then, after Li Han and Yang Ruoxi had finished taking photos nearby,

the trio began to set up the tent.

“Chen Yang, it’s going to be dark soon, so we’ll leave the task of setting up the tent to you!

Ruoxi and I will go look for a water source nearby; it’ll be convenient for cooking,” Yang Ruoxi said, linking arms with Li Han, as they approached Chen Yang.

Chen Yang stood up and nodded, “Okay, I’ll take care of setting up the tent, and you two can handle the cooking.”

“Mm-hmm.”

Yang Ruoxi and Li Han nodded, then the two sisters went off giggling in search of a water source and to prepare the meal.

Meanwhile, Chen Yang picked up the tent he had brought and began to study how to set it up.

Upon opening the tent packaging and seeing the assorted parts, Chen Yang felt a headache coming on.

“How am I supposed to assemble all this mess?”

Chen Yang picked up a big bag of parts from the packaging and couldn’t help but complain.

However, after searching a bit more, Chen Yang found an instruction manual in the bag with the tent.

With that in hand, Chen Yang found his direction.

Next, he started setting up the tent following the instructions in the manual.

Chen Yang’s hands were quite skilled, and following the step-by-step instructions, he soon had a rather large tent nearly set up—he just needed to secure the four corners.

“The wind’s bound to be strong up here overnight, so for safety’s sake, I should cut a couple of thicker branches to secure it.”

So saying, Chen Yang picked up a hatchet and headed into the nearby woods to chop some stout branches, which he then sharpened and used to anchor the corners of the tent.

After doing all this, he checked over everything again just to be sure.

Once he was certain the tent was sturdy, he began setting up a second one.

The second tent was much larger than the first.

Although it wasn’t yet set up, Chen Yang could tell from the frame of the tent that there would be no problem sleeping three or four people inside.

Looking at the sizable tent, a thought crossed Chen Yang’s mind.

He smirked, then continued to focus intently on setting it up.

The second tent was much bigger and thus took longer to erect.

After completing the main structure, Chen Yang, like before, went to the woods nearby to chop some sturdy branches to secure the surroundings of the tent.

By the time Chen Yang had both tents fully set up, Li Han and Yang Ruoxi happened to come back.

“Wow!

Chen Yang, you’re so fast, you managed to set up the tents so quickly,” Yang Ruoxi approached and praised as she looked at the solid tents.

“Haha, it’s not that I’m fast at setting up; you two are just slow.

How come it took you so long to find a water source?” Chen Yang dusted the dirt off his hands as he asked.

“There wasn’t much of a water source on this mountaintop.

My sister and I had to walk quite a distance before we found one in a crevice to the west,” Yang Ruoxi pouted and pointed westward, speaking with an expression of mild hardship.

Hearing this, Chen Yang nodded in understanding, then turned to pull out some deer meat and a small pot he had prepared from his backpack, “Where’s the water source?

It’s getting late.

Let’s wash the meat and start getting ready for dinner.”

“Chen Yang, you leave washing the meat to us!

Could you please gather some firewood for cooking the stew later?” Seeing Chen Yang about to wash the meat, Yang Ruoxi hurriedly took the small pot and the deer meat from his hands.

“Um…

sure, just be careful,” Chen Yang nodded.

“Mm-hmm, we will be careful.” Yang Ruoxi gave a slight smile, then, holding the deer meat and with Li Han in tow, went to wash it.

Chen Yang then started gathering firewood nearby.

He also used the branches he had left over from securing the tent to construct a small stove rack, ready for the stew later.

By the time Chen Yang had finished all this, Yang Ruoxi and Li Han returned, carrying the washed deer meat and a large pot of mountain spring water.

“Chen Yang, did you get the firewood ready?” Yang Ruoxi asked, struggling to hold the pot.

Seeing the two women arrive, Chen Yang promptly stepped aside and pointed to the stove rack, “It’s ready.

Just put the pot on there, and you can start the fire.”

“Okay,” Yang Ruoxi smiled and immediately put the pot filled with spring water onto the stand, dropping the venison in as well.

After that, she took out a lighter to start the fire.

The wind on the mountaintop was strong, so once the fire caught, it blazed fiercely.

“Oh, Ruoxi, go grab my backpack for me,” Chen Yang said while adding firewood.

“What for?” Yang Ruoxi sat cross-legged on the grass, tilting her head as she asked.

“To add the seasonings, of course.

I didn’t just bring venison; I have a lot of seasonings too,” Chen Yang replied.

Yang Ruoxi gave a sound of acknowledgement and then stood up to head towards the tent, bringing Chen Yang’s backpack over to him, “Here, I brought it.”

Chen Yang took the backpack, then pulled out the seasonings he had prepared in advance.

Chilies, garlic, and the like, he tossed them all into the pot to cook together.

While Chen Yang was busy seasoning and cooking the meat, Yang Ruoxi and Li Han were not the type to sit idle.

They were off enjoying the scenery nearby and taking selfies, leaving Chen Yang alone to tend the fire.

Watching the two sisters frolicking on the grass not far away, Chen Yang felt quite content.

Although he couldn’t join in, simply admiring from afar was also a pleasure.

Time passed quickly, and before long, it was about to get dark.

Looking at the sunset glow on the horizon and smelling the meat’s aroma from the pot, Chen Yang called over Li Han and Yang Ruoxi.

After a day of climbing, all three were quite drained, so as soon as they heard the meat might be ready, they immediately put down their phones and walked over.

Yang Ruoxi couldn’t help but reach out to lift the lid of the pot as she approached.

“Hmm…

smells so good!” Yang Ruoxi savored the aroma and then quickly turned to Chen Yang, “Chen Yang, quickly take out the bowls and chopsticks from the bag, I can’t wait anymore.”

“Hehe, okay.”

Chen Yang bent down to take the bowls and chopsticks he’d prepared from the backpack beside him and handed them to Yang Ruoxi and Li Han.

Once they had their bowls and chopsticks, they couldn’t help but start eating immediately.

Lying on the grass, looking at the sunset, feeling the breeze between the trees, and enjoying delicious venison, the three of them couldn’t be more comfortable.

But the most content among them was undoubtedly Chen Yang.

Not only was the food excellent, but he also had the company of two sisters with stunning figures – the feeling was incredibly delightful.

The three feasted heartily around the big pot for quite a while.

By the time they finished eating, the sun had already set.

The sky had plunged into total darkness.

At that moment, the flashlight that Yang Ruoxi had bought came in handy.

Each person held a flashlight, and everything around them was fairly clear.

“Look!

The starry sky!”

Suddenly, Yang Ruoxi exclaimed as she looked up at the sky.

Upon hearing her, Li Han and Chen Yang also looked up.

Indeed, the sky was dotted with stars, perhaps because of the high vantage point of the three.

The stars were not only numerous but also exceptionally bright, as if enhanced with special effects.

“It’s really so beautiful,” Li Han couldn’t help but praise.

Only Chen Yang silently admired the view without saying a word.

Looking up at the starry sky, the three eventually lay down on the grass, hands pillow behind their heads, silently appreciating the stars.

No one knew how long this lasted.

Suddenly, the previously bright starry sky began to dim.

It seemed that a huge cloud was drifting over their heads.

The stars in the sky suddenly disappeared, leaving the three momentarily stunned, but before they could react…
