Chapter 1031: Chapter 1027 Thief

Leaving the school, Chen Yang passed by the greenhouse on his way back.

Seeing the truck sent by the Dai Family to collect wild mushrooms, Chen Yang thought of Dai Annie.

Since the banquet last time, they had made two phone calls.

They hadn’t been in much contact these past two days, and he didn’t know how that girl was doing.

"I wonder if Mr. Dai has come to his senses. If he still insists on marrying Annie off to Gu Xuanyu, trouble could arise."

Dai Annie was already his woman, so naturally, he would not allow anyone else to touch her.

Ring ring ring...

Just as Chen Yang was about to walk over to check the wild mushroom harvest, his phone suddenly rang.

Chen Yang picked it up and answered.

"Chen Yang, are you in the village? I just got to town by bus and need to buy some things. Can you come pick me up?" Wu Kexin said on the phone.

Chen Yang was delighted to hear this, not expecting Wu Kexin to have returned.

"Sure, wait for me at the station, I’ll be there shortly."

"Okay."

After the two agreed, Chen Yang hung up the phone and returned to the clinic.

Then he drove off like the wind to the town.

Upon entering the market, the road became congested, with many people crossing the street, causing Chen Yang to slow down.

What should have taken fifteen minutes to get to the bus station dragged on for almost half an hour.

By the time Chen Yang arrived at the town bus station, Wu Kexin was already a bit impatient.

"What took you so long?" Wu Kexin asked Chen Yang.

Chen Yang rubbed his nose with a bashful smile, "Hehe, there are a lot of people at the market today, the street’s jammed, so I was late."

Hearing the reason, Wu Kexin wasn’t upset anymore.

She just tossed her designer bag to him.

"Humph, all right then, come with me to the market. We need to buy some teacups and other things as there aren’t any left at the village office," Wu Kexin said.

"Sure."

Chen Yang nodded with a smile, and they started walking around the market together.

Perhaps because it’s the weekend, there were many people in town.

The two had a hard time moving around.

"There are so many people. If I’d known, we should have gone to the county directly," Chen Yang couldn’t help complaining.

Wu Kexin replied quietly, "I didn’t expect so many people either. I thought since we’re just buying small items, town or county, it’s the same, so we came here."

Chen Yang didn’t say anything further and silently went around the market with Wu Kexin.

After about an hour and once they had bought most of what they needed, they were ready to leave.

Suddenly, a man with dyed blue hair, wearing ripped jeans in a delinquent style, passed by them.

Given the crowd in the market, some physical contact was inevitable when passing others.

Wu Kexin didn’t think much of it and was ready to leave with Chen Yang.

However, Chen Yang suddenly noticed that after the man’s collision, the zipper on Wu Kexin’s bag was open.

Chen Yang immediately sensed something.

"Kexin, quickly check if anything’s missing from your bag," Chen Yang, eyes fixed on the nonchalant delinquent walking away, said to Wu Kexin.

"Huh? Check my bag?"

Wu Kexin was taken aback, not reacting immediately.

"Yes, check it, that blue-haired guy might have sticky fingers," Chen Yang continued.

Hearing this, Wu Kexin quickly opened her bag to check.

She initially thought it was impossible as she didn’t feel a thing.

But after checking, she found her wallet was missing!

"My wallet is gone!"

Wu Kexin exclaimed, looking up in surprise.

"Follow me!" As soon as Chen Yang heard something was indeed missing, he pursued the delinquent without hesitation.

On the surface, the delinquent appeared calm, walking at a normal pace.

However, once he got further away, his pace quickened instantly.

He even glanced back.

Upon seeing Chen Yang catching up, he burst into a run.

He darted around the market and into an alley by the street.

Seeing this, Chen Yang also sped up, quickly chasing after him.

"Stop!"

Chen Yang chased into the alley, about five or six meters behind the delinquent, shouting loudly to get him to stop.

But the guy pretended not to hear, continually running forward.

Facing this, Chen Yang swiftly caught up and kicked him in the back, causing him to tumble over and fall flat on his face.

"Ouch."

Falling to the ground, the delinquent immediately began to wail.

Before he could react, Chen Yang seized him by the neck and hoisted him up.

"Hey, big brother, what are you doing? We have no grudge, why are you hitting me?" the delinquent said, feigning innocence, with a pained expression.

Not wanting to waste words, Chen Yang just extended his hand and plainly said, "Hand over the wallet."

The delinquent looked a bit surprised at this.

After a moment, he muttered, "Hey big brother, what are you talking about? Why would your wallet be with me?"

"Still not confessing?"

"I’m not being dishonest, I really don’t know..."

The delinquent stubbornly denied it.

Seeing this, Chen Yang didn’t waste any more words and directly punched him in the stomach.

The punch immediately made the delinquent scrunch up his face in pain.

He was in agony, unable to make a sound, wishing he could cry out.

"Will you hand it over? If you don’t, you’ll feel even worse," Chen Yang said with a smile.

After about ten seconds of recovery, realizing Chen Yang was about to strike again, the delinquent quickly caved in.

"Spare me, big brother... I’ll give it, I’ll give it..." the delinquent said fearfully.

"Wouldn’t it have been better to confess earlier? What was the point of suffering through this?" Chen Yang chuckled.

The delinquent felt like dying.

In hindsight, it would have been better to confess sooner.

"Big brother, the wallet is in my pocket," the delinquent said, looking uncomfortable.

Hearing this, Chen Yang quickly searched the delinquent’s pockets and indeed found Wu Kexin’s wallet.

Seeing the wallet recovered, Chen Yang didn’t plan to make things more difficult for the guy.

He simply released him.

Upon being let go, the delinquent fled in a panic.

He was afraid Chen Yang might change his mind and drag him back.

"Chen Yang... Did you get the wallet back?" At this point, Wu Kexin finally caught up, out of breath, and seeing the delinquent running away, she asked Chen Yang as she looked up.

Hearing her voice, Chen Yang turned and handed the wallet back to Wu Kexin.

"Check if any money is missing."

Wu Kexin took the wallet, carefully examining it.

"Nothing’s missing."

"Great, let’s go."

"Yeah, let’s go."

Wu Kexin nodded, then left the alley with Chen Yang, returning to the station.

They were ready to catch the minibus back to Liuhe Village.
