Chapter 84: Kill Old Han Boss
Chapter 84: Chapter 84: Kill Old Han Boss
The so-called Desperate Scholar was just an ordinary Scholar in front of Mu Can.
When the Desperate Scholar was still a poor Scholar named Di Ying, he secretly pledged his life to a daughter from a minor clan. When they were planning to elope but got discovered, he had no choice but to flee alone. However, he was ambushed at Yunlong Mountain.
The Clan Leader Han recognized his literary skills and let him join the group. Di Ying, feeling hopeless in achieving success through the imperial examinations, settled down on Yunlong Mountain, but he never forgot the young lady of that small clan.
After going down the mountain and finding out that the lady he had sworn his life to had married a Cultivator, he immediately rushed back to Yunlong Mountain and led Clan Leader Han and his men to massacre her entire clan.
He then raped the lady in front of the clan leader and finally stabbed him to death.
Human nature is such; when you decide to descend into depravity, your mind will come up with countless reasons to justify it.
Since then, there ceased to be a Scholar named Di Ying under Yunlong Mountain and there emerged an advisor called the Desperate Scholar on Yunlong Mountain.
Although it was especially hard for Di Ying to learn the doctrines of governing that were taught to him, on the mountain, Clan Leader Han gave him a unique platform to display his talents.
Barely taking the position of advisor, he reformed the distribution of spoils and benefits among the bandits, which was why Clan Leader Han’s forces grew stronger.
In recent years, the Desperate Scholar became increasingly ruthless. The genocidal strategies he recommended to Clan Leader Han were too numerous to document exhaustively.
"Can you spare my life?" the Desperate Scholar looked at Mu Can hopefully and asked.
Mu Can shook his head. If what Long Yunyun said was true, and all the schemes were indeed devised by this Scholar-looking man, then this man must die; Mu Can did not want to deceive anyone.
"Do you have any wine?" the Desperate Scholar resigned himself to his inevitable death and asked Mu Can.
Mu Can still shook his head, "Speak if you want to, otherwise today I will kill you all."
For Mu Can, the decision of these bandits to attack the weak and sickly was already a death sentence.
Perhaps thinking of his tragic fate, or remembering the lover he had stabbed years ago, maybe it was the remorse from committing so many evils over the years, or as they say, a dying man’s words are kind.
The Desperate Scholar confessed all the evil deeds he and Clan Leader Han had done together over these years on the mountain.
"These beasts." Long Yunyun couldn’t bear to listen any longer and snatched a Longsword, intending to decapitate the Desperate Scholar.
"You really deserve to die." Even Mu Can, with his steady temperament, spoke with a slightly ghastly expression.
When Clan Leader Han and his men descended from the mountain to pillage, they never left any survivors; they had committed innumerable acts of annihilating clans and razed villages.
There is no knowing how many young girls were ruined by these Demons, particularly now in their village on Yunlong Mountain. There were still over thirty young women who had been captured for their perverse pleasure.
And this idea too, was proposed by the Desperate Scholar, with Clan Leader Han merely being a faithful executor.
"All of these people deserve to die." Long Yunyun’s body was trembling, possibly due to her family education. She had only heard about the depravities of the outside world of Cultivators but never expected to personally hear about such vile acts today.
"Can you grant me a swift death? I don’t want to live like this anymore." The Desperate Scholar looked at his hands, seemingly seeing the blood of the people he directly or indirectly killed, blood that could never be washed clean.
"Wake up Clan Leader Han." Mu Can suppressed the anger in his heart and said coldly.
The temperature in the air seemed to drop by several degrees, "Take the children inside." Mu Can turned to Long Yunyun and said.
Long Yunyun sensed what Mu Can intended to do and hurriedly took Xiaobao and a few other children back inside.
A basin of cold water was poured over his head, and Han Lao Da, who was beaten like a dead dog, regained consciousness.
It was unclear whether it was because of Mu Can’s heavy handiwork or due to the side effects of the Elixir, but Han Lao Da now seemed to have aged several years, displaying a miserable appearance.
With a powerless effort, he lifted his head to look at Mu Can, then glanced at his tied-up brothers beside him, resigning himself to fate.
"As an inferior competitor, I, Han Lao Da, have nothing to say."
"In these years, you’ve thoroughly indulged in wrongdoing." Mu Can’s gaze on Han Lao Da turned even colder.
Even the bandits following Long Yunyun by his side felt a chilling sensation all over their bodies.
"Luckily I haven’t done any misdeeds since arriving at the mountain," Old Wang thought secretly to himself.
Before Long Yunyun arrived at the village, they too engaged in highway robbery, but rarely hurt anyone, merely taking toll money before letting travelers pass.
The first reason was the village itself lacked strength, not daring to act rashly for fear of provoking tough adversaries, and the second reason was that Old Wang was inherently a dependable and honest person. He wouldn’t have turned to banditry on the mountain if he wasn’t desperate for survival.
The most laughable thing was that even after turning to banditry, Old Wang had his men plant crops around their village.
After Long Yunyun arrived on the mountain, their lives substantially improved, and highway robbery became one of the few entertainments in the village.
"Men die for wealth, birds die for food, I, Han Lao Da, turned to banditry and cast aside all morals," Han Lao Da, realizing he definitely wouldn’t survive today, accepted his fate with composure.
"You make some sense there. We also turned to banditry but never committed atrocities like you did." Dogzi couldn’t help but burst out. As fellow bandits, how could there be such a huge difference in character? Dogzi rushed up and slapped Han Lao Da across the face.
After being slapped, Han Lao Da bled from his nose and slowly laid down.
"You call yourselves bandits? You’re just a bunch of peasants, haha, turning to banditry yet still tilling the land, aren’t you ashamed?" Han Lao Da suddenly burst into loud laughter, disdainfully addressing Old Wang and the others.
"Boss, over these years, I’ve done many evils under your lead and enjoyed many perks. If there’s an afterlife, I’d choose to be a noble Scholar, to study earnestly and devote myself to the welfare of the people," Desperate Scholar said with tears streaming down his face looking at Han Lao Da.
"I, Han Lao Da, was the only survivor after my family was slaughtered at age ten. After ten years of arduous cultivation, I exterminated my enemies and was forced into banditry; fully deserving death for a lifetime of misdeeds, if there’s an afterlife, I still desire to pursue cultivation," Han Lao Da, moved by Desperate Scholar’s sentiments, also had tears on his face.
A pitiable person surely has detestable aspects, yet a detestable person is not without pitiable dimensions.
"Just kill them all," Mu Can waved his hand, and the ready villagers swung their blades down.
"Farming on one’s own merit and eating honestly is no disgrace," Old Wang angrily swung his broken longsword and viciously chopped off Han Lao Da’s head.
Han Lao Da, likely never imagined, even in his death, that he would be killed by Old Wang, who was an average cultivator and made a living from farming.
His head rolled like a ball, symbolizing the total eradication of Han Lao Da’s reign over Yunlong Mountain village.
PS: Just watched the new movie Red Sea, felt it was quite well done, a quality film.
