Chapter 185: Chapter 187: Answer My Questions, or Die

Mu Can looked at the insane old man with surprise on his face, as he did not expect the mad old man to be able to see through Fan Ge’s lies. This mad old man not only possessed extraordinary strength but also had many bizarre aspects to him.

Mu Can even began to wonder whether this mad old man was truly as insane as he appeared. If he wasn’t truly mad or had regained his senses, there would be some fun to be had.

"Don’t kill me." Fan Ge said in a panic. He was not afraid of Mu Can, but he was genuinely frightened by this crazy old man, possibly because Mu Can still seemed to be a normal person.

The mad old man looked lifeless in his eyes, appearing both silly and foolish, who knows what sort of outrageous acts he might commit. If he were to strike him dead on the spot, there would be nowhere to reason the matter out.

On the contrary, Mu Can seemed like someone who could be communicated with. Since he could be communicated with, then he certainly wouldn’t suddenly lash out and kill someone.

If this was how Fan Ge conducted himself, not to mention his group of followers, who were shivering in fear behind him, looking just like frightened little rabbits.

"And you call yourself a Hidden Family?" Mu Can looked at the emotional Fan Ge with a smile, his voice tinged with sarcasm.

If the members of the Hidden Families were all like this, perhaps he would have to reassess the strength of the Mortal World.

Of course, Mu Can didn’t really take the Hidden Families seriously. This group might just be like a ticking time bomb for the Mortal World. It could be inferred from Fan Ge’s behavior that these people felt no sense of belonging to the Mortal World. Mu Can was filled with doubts about them.

"You, a mere Cultivator from the Mortal World, dare to mock the Hidden Families?" Fan Ge didn’t dare to speak, but a little follower behind him couldn’t help but step forward to say something.

This follower was named Xu Er, the most loyal follower behind Fan Ge, who could be counted on to risk his life at a word from Fan Ge; a hotheaded character with average Cultivation, but terribly hot-tempered.

He usually followed Fan Ge blindly, deeply trusted by Fan Ge. If he wasn’t so dim-witted and overly impulsive, he would have long been held close as a confidant by Fan Ge.

Watching Xu Er with an angry face, Fan Ge wished he could dispatch this usually beloved follower.

"Damn it, why did you provoke him? Didn’t you see that Martial Saint over there clamoring to turn us into corpses?" At this moment, Fan Ge resolved that if he could survive and return, he would kick Xu Er aside, give him some stipend to go away quickly, or else sooner or later his own life would be ruined by his hands.

"Aren’t you going to apologize to my Fan Ge right now? You, a puny Cultivator, dare to speak deliriously?"

Xu Er, carried away in his moment, was completely oblivious to Fan Ge’s expression; he failed to notice that Fan Ge’s face was slowly turning livid.

"If you knew just how powerful the Hidden Families really are, you would certainly kneel down and apologize to my Fan Ge."

At this moment, Xu Er felt exhilarated, wondering what treasures Fan Ge would bestow upon him after this affair.

Most Hidden Families usually concealed themselves within their own spaces. Though referred to as spaces, these areas are as expansive as the regular Mortal World, vast and limitless, with towns and cities of various sizes, much like an Empire of the Mortal World.

Moreover, there are spatial pathways established by the Great Powers between these Hidden Families, allowing them to communicate, spar, compete, and compare with each other.

When Fan Ge previously led a group of followers to wreak havoc, Xu Er would often do things to overjoy Fan Ge. Each time, Fan Ge would reward Xu Er with some Treasure.

Unfortunately, Xu Er was completely unaware of what he was doing this time, thinking it was business as usual and that his actions were a significant favor to Brother Fan.

"Get lost!" Brother Fan roared angrily. He was genuinely scared, fearing that Xu Er, the clueless young man, might say something that would embarrass Mu Can. Xu Er’s life was of little consequence, but if he were to be killed because of him, it would be a huge loss.

"Didn’t you hear? Brother Fan told you to scram. Move it, or you’ll offend us, and then even wishing for death will be difficult." Xu Er, beside Brother Fan and caught up in his own excitement, failed to realize that Brother Fan’s words were directed at him.

"Alas!" Mu Zi’ang sighed as he watched Xu Er, shaking his head.

Ignorant people are everywhere, and before this, Mu Zi’ang thought that all members of the Hidden Family were outstanding geniuses. It seems there are also fools who cannot distinguish the situation at hand.

"Scram already." Xu Er waved his hand dismissively, as if shooing away flies.

"Oh? That still scares me quite a bit." Mu Can glanced at the clueless Xu Er, wondering if this man was like some crazed old man with a malfunctioning brain.

"What ’oh’? Kneel down and apologize to my Brother Fan right now!" Upon hearing Mu Can’s words, Xu Er became even more overbearing, acting as if he would not let Mu Can off unless he knelt.

"Daddy, is this person stupid?" Dun Dun, who was hiding among Mu Can’s hair, noticed that Xu Er seemed to be a bit off.

"I’m not sure, but Daddy isn’t in the mood to kill right now." Mu Can was lackluster, his desire to act against a true genius like Mu Can was there, but facing such an idiot, his interest was lacking.

"Kneel down!" Xu Er tried to speak again.

"Slap!"

"Shut your mouth!" Brother Fan trembled with rage as he fiercely slapped Xu Er, knocking out two bloody teeth from Xu Er’s mouth and causing half of his face to swell up instantly.

"Having you talk! Having you seek death, don’t drag me down with you if you want to die!" Brother Fan grew angrier the more he thought about it and began punching and kicking Xu Er.

Xu Er, being weaker than Brother Fan, didn’t have the strength to fight back at all.

"Whimper." Xu Er sobbed, still unaware of why Brother Fan, who was usually nice to him, was suddenly beating him fiercely, and he didn’t have the chance, or the courage, to retaliate.

"That’s enough, stop!" Mu Can waved his hand, indicating he didn’t want to watch Brother Fan disciplining Xu Er here.

Seeing Mu Can wave his hand, Brother Fan immediately changed his expression, looking at Mu Can nervously.

"I don’t like being lied to. I ask, you answer, or else, die." Mu Can’s gaze was icy as he stared at Brother Fan.

Even though he could sense that his strength was on par with Mu Can’s, Brother Fan felt as if he had fallen into an ice cellar under Mu Can’s gaze. He could feel that Mu Can’s eyes held no trace of emotion, viewing him as nothing more than a lower life form.

Though he felt indignant inside, he couldn’t utter a word. After a moment’s thought, he nodded vigorously, knowing that if he lied, what waited for him would be death.
