Chapter 183: Chapter 185 I Don’t Like Being Pointed at Like This

Entrusted by others, fulfill others’ duties, since Sword Venerate had promised Purple Cloud to protect Mu Can, he fully devoted himself to the role of a bodyguard.

"Where are we going?" Although Purple Cloud hadn’t said much, Sword Venerate understood the importance of Mu Can to Purple Cloud.

Otherwise, the promise of an Immortal Venerable Level powerhouse would not have been wasted so casually. It should be noted that such promises here can be used to accomplish significant tasks; even if Sword Venerate were asked to fight to the death for Purple Cloud, he would not refuse.

"Immortal Ancient Academy." The present Immortal Ancient Academy is a gathering place for the heroes from all walks of life, with experts from the Immortal World, Demon World, and Mortal World almost all converging there. The Demon World plans to set up a Demon Saint Level Demon Summoning Array there, the Immortal World also seeks to summon their most powerful beings there, and the Mortal World’s experts are also gathered in that place.

The Immortal Ancient Academy is more like a spiritual Holy Land of the Mortal World; it is where the Spiritual Energy is the densest in the Mortal World and also the dwelling place for many ancient and reclusive experts.

Thus, the Immortal Ancient Academy became a battleground that both the Immortal and Demon Worlds must contend over. Even those of the Immortal World who ostensibly aid the Mortal World may have sinister motives.

The Spiritual Energy of the Mortal World is originally a grade lower than that of the Immortal World, so when the Immortals descend, they will surely compete by any means necessary for those lands rich in Spiritual Energy.

Whoever secures the Immortal Ancient Academy secures the Mortal World. In the earlier times of the Mortal World, due to the transcendent status of the Immortal Ancient Academy, no power would harbor covetous intentions towards it.

But now, the creatures of the Mortal World are shrouded in misery, each person filled with apprehension, continuously retreating under the onslaught of the Demon Clan, left with no choice but to cooperate with the ambition-filled Immortals of the Immortal World.

Seeing Mu Can’s dispirited mood, Sword Venerate no longer spoke. He was not a man gifted with communication; it was so even back in the Immortal World, where he rarely mingled with other Cultivators. The only things he believed in were his three-foot green peak sword, and the only person he deeply loved was one woman.

If not for that woman, getting the lofty Sword Venerate to owe someone a favor would be a difficult feat.

However, Sword Venerate had one especially important virtue: he took promises very seriously. Otherwise, why would an Immortal Venerable Level powerhouse condescend to act as a bodyguard for Mu Can? But since he had promised Purple Cloud, Sword Venerate would carry out this task without hesitation.

"There will be plenty of opportunities in the future." Mu Zi’ang could tell that Mu Can’s spirits weren’t high and patted Mu Can’s shoulder.

No one knows his son better than the father; Mu Zi’ang of course knew that Mu Can genuinely liked Purple Cloud, but as a father, he also had no way to advise on such matters.

"You will definitely prove yourself." Mu Zi’ang had great confidence in Mu Can; he believed that one day, Mu Can would definitely win Purple Cloud’s heart.

Sword Venerate looked at Mu Can with surprise; he had thought that Mu Can was Purple Cloud’s disciple. Now it seemed as if they shared some special relationship.

Sword Venerate felt a chill. The Immortal Venerable Purple Cloud actually had a sweetheart, and it seemed to be an unremarkable Mortal World lad no less. This could be a major event shaking the entire Immortal World. Considering Purple Cloud’s status in the Immortal World, those admiring her could stretch from the Star Cloud Tower all the way to Bright Moon Valley.

If those admirers knew about Purple Cloud’s romantic tie, Sword Venerate could imagine the upheaval it would cause. There would be countless people wanting to kill Mu Can, for sure.

Sword Venerate gave Mu Can a sympathetic glance, though he would not gossip. But if the news about Purple Cloud’s special relationship got out, one could hardly avoid battle. By that time, Immortal Venerable Level powerhouses might take action, which led Sword Venerate to worry that protecting Mu Can might not be so straightforward after all.

The group hurried toward the Immortal Ancient Academy. Throughout the journey, they encountered and Mu Can casually killed any Demon Clan members they met. Fortunately, they had yet to encounter a large troop of the Demon Clan, only scattered members. Yet, Mu Can’s heart sank; judging by the current state of the villages along the way, the condition of the Nanyuan Empire was truly dire – the villages were almost all deserted, and some had their populations turned into materials for small-scale Demon Arrays.

Mu Can then released flames to cremate the corpse and used the power of his Earth Element Giant Dragon to bury it.

"Die, die, die." The insane old man, upon seeing the deserted village, would occasionally burst into madness, furiously attacking the air, with even the clouds drifting in the sky being scattered by his punches.

"Stay calm." Mu Can was now quite eager to help the insane old man regain his sanity; if this continued, there was a real risk that, should the old man truly lose control, he would cause significant harm.

"Who’s down there?" A group of people sailing on a battle ship passed by, looking down at Mu Can and the others from above. The Sword Venerate wasn’t physically protecting Mu Can; he had hidden above in the sky upon Mu Can’s request, flying with Sword Control.

Therefore, to the people on the ship, this group seemed to contain no strong individuals, plus there was the clearly abnormal insane old man.

Mu Can looked up coldly at the young cultivators on the battle ship, his face displaying arrogance, but he remained silent.

"Haha, quite the prideful look, aim the Qi Cannon at them," said the young cultivator, who appeared to be a typical prodigal son, adorned with a dazzling array of treasures. However, a cruel expression marred his handsome face at this moment.

"Can you tell us who you are now?" The young cultivator asked with a smile on his face as the large barrel of the cannon was pointed at Mu Can.

"Fan Ge, why waste words with them? Just blast them with one shot," said someone next to the young cultivator.

"Xiao Qi, you don’t understand, we mustn’t bully others with our power, understand?" Fan Ge tapped Xiao Qi on the head with the fan in his hand, asking back with a deep look.

"Fan Ge is amazing, truly cultured," Xiao Qi didn’t mind being hit with the fan at all, instead revealing a sycophantic smile and flattering obediently.

The people around Fan Ge also began to shower him with praises from all directions.

"I don’t like it when someone points at me like this," Mu Can said, looking at the barrel aimed at him, in his first statement.

"Haha, could this guy be an idiot?"

"Has his brain gone funny? This is the Qi Cannon; does he think he is the Demon Lord or something?"

"He looks normal; are you related to that insane old man, like grandson to grandfather?"

Before Fan Ge could speak, those around him started to ridicule wildly, laughing joyously.

"Die, die, die!" The insane old man seemed to understand what the others were saying, crying and laughing as he pointed at the people on the battle ship and shouted loudly.

"Seeking death!" No one had dared to speak to Fan Ge like that before, and his face turned cold in an instant as he spoke those words.

Then, he immediately activated the Qi Cannon.
