Chapter 150: Chapter 152: The Monster is a Female Tiger
"Who said anything about scaring me into wetting myself, big brother? You’ve got it all wrong," Poor Tiger retorted, as if the fear he felt upon hearing the words ’Demon Beast’ had completely vanished.
"Holy crap, the Demon Beast is right in front of you!" Mu Can suddenly pointed ahead and exclaimed.
The next moment, Mu Can felt a lightness beneath him and fell off Poor Tiger’s back, landing on his back with his limbs in the air.
Clumsy
"Ouch, that totally killed me." Clumsy fell onto Mu Can and started complaining in pain.
"Hehe, I’m better off, I can fly." Little Red immediately fluttered up and gently landed next to Mu Can.
Looking ahead, Poor Tiger was nowhere to be seen.
"Brother Tiger, where are you? I was just kidding, there’s no such thing as a Demon Beast," Mu Can said with a mix of laughter and helplessness.
Mu Can hadn’t expected Poor Tiger to be so terrified of the Demon Beast to such an extent.
"The Demon Beast didn’t really come out, did it?" From the ground beside Mu Can, a small cat-sized, furry tiger head popped up, carefully looking around.
Mu Can’s shout had somehow caused Poor Tiger to shrink his body instantly and bury himself in the ground.
"You say you possess the strength of a Martial Venerate, how can you be so cowardly? Are you even a tiger at all?" Mu Can said indignantly. This Poor Tiger was just too disloyal, tossing Mu Can aside at the mere mention of a Demon Beast.
After making sure that the most feared figure wasn’t really around, Poor Tiger crawled out from beneath the ground, patting his chest with his little paws and sighing in relief.
"You have no idea how terrifying she is. If you had seen that Demon Beast, with your strength, you wouldn’t even be enough to pick her teeth with," Poor Tiger exaggerated.
"And you were bragging just now, claiming you weren’t scared enough to wet yourself. Look at you; you’re practically there," Mu Can stumbled, though unharmed, still caught off guard. Now that he had a chance to tease Poor Tiger, there was no way he’d let him off easily.
"Exactly, dad is right, Uncle Tiger, you’re too timid, scared of the Demon Beast." Clumsy sat on Mu Can’s head like a green crown.
"Get off me," Mu Can snapped as he grabbed Clumsy and placed him on his shoulder.
Poor Tiger glanced at Clumsy, who was looking down on him, "You little thing, you really don’t know the vastness of heaven and earth."
"What’s the deal with this Demon Beast?" Intuition told Mu Can that the Demon Beast mentioned by Poor Tiger had a story with Poor Tiger, and it was no simple tale.
When Mu Can asked, Poor Tiger was reluctant to answer. But after some pressing and provocation from Mu Can, Poor Tiger unwillingly recounted what happened.
It turned out that Poor Tiger had once stayed in this room for a while when he passed through; it’s one of the rare "singles" among the countless rooms of the Death Maze.
The so-called "single" means there is only one creature existing in a room space.
In this room space, Poor Tiger encountered the most formidable enemy he had ever faced in his life, another tiger.
It would have been fine if this tiger were just another male, but it happened to be a female named Little Demon.
Poor Tiger had thought about resisting, but the law of attraction between the opposite sexes applies equally to both humans and Demon Beasts.
Unsurprisingly, Poor Tiger fell into the tender traps laid by Little Demon, and they lived shamelessly ever after.
But the good times didn’t last long, the restless and lively nature of the poor tiger meant he was not a creature who could be content with the status quo.
After a while, the poor tiger wanted to leave the chamber to continue exploring the Death Maze, but this decision was met with resistance from the little demon.
The two fought over this, and the crazed little demon almost snipped off the poor tiger’s lifeline with scissors while he was asleep. In a fit of rage, the poor tiger chose to leave home and run away, but not without being injured by the little demon.
Since then, the once lovers parted ways, with the former darling becoming the poor tiger’s current nightmare.
Hearing the poor tiger’s story, Mu Can burst into hearty laughter.
"Don’t laugh. If you really summon that monster, I won’t be able to protect you," the poor tiger said, quickly extending his little paw to cover Mu Can’s mouth.
"You two really are a set of natural enemies. Women shouldn’t be provoked, and a tigress even less so."
"Daddy, where is my mommy?" Bum Bum asked innocently while sitting steadily on Mu Can’s shoulder.
God knows how his little head came to understand so much.
"You go play over there," Mu Can said without good humor. He himself wasn’t married yet, so where would he find a mother for Bum Bum?
"You don’t know the terror of a tigress. She’s gentle as water when we’re together, but the moment I mentioned I wanted to go out, she turned hostile. And her strength surpasses mine... Sigh, it’s tough being a tiger. To be honest, if it weren’t for the need to get you out, I would rather die than come back," the poor tiger tearfully lamented.
"Really? Do you find me that disagreeable?" A weak voice came from beside them, and there stood, a fragile and tearful beauty just beside the two.
"God, this must be an illusion," the poor tiger exclaimed, burying his head into the ground in a flash, leaving only his body exposed above the surface.
"Nice to meet you, sister-in-law," Mu Can quickly bent down to salute. The little demon’s strength was far beyond Mu Can’s imagination, her silent arrival alone indicated that her power was much greater than the poor tiger’s.
"Mm, hello to you too," the little demon’s face blushed with a touch of red as she shyly responded to being called sister-in-law.
"Do you really find me that disagreeable?" The little demon turned her head towards the poor tiger, whose head was stuck in the soil, exposing only his backside, and she spoke with a face full of resentment.
"Come out now," Mu Can was not nearly as gentle, pulling the poor tiger out from the ground by his tail.
It’s as if everything in the world is predestined, what’s meant to come will always come.
The poor tiger has thought more than once about the scenario of meeting the little demon, but he’s never quite prepared for how to actually face her.
Even though he was injured by the little demon, it was he who wanted to leave her behind. Although he always called her a demon, his heart never truly saw her as an enemy.
"Are you okay?"
A thousand words welled up in his heart, but only one sentence came out.
"Not good." The little demon shook her head. During the days when the poor tiger was away, she nearly washed her face with tears daily, extending her senses throughout the chamber every day, monitoring every movement.
The little demon knew the poor tiger was back the moment he entered the chamber with Mu Can, but she chose not to appear immediately, only revealing herself after the poor tiger spoke about himself.
"I’m sorry." The little demon gazed at the poor tiger for a long time before speaking.
As soon as she uttered the words, tears welled up in her eyes like a spring.
