Chapter 659: I can’t stand it (2 more updates)

While waiting for the traffic light, Lu Han, like any typical father, was concerned about Tongtong’s studies, "You’ve been attending school for a while now, are you adapting okay?"

"Yeah, I am."

"That’s good. Is studying tough? Do you need a tutor?"

"No need, I find studying quite simple."

"..."

So immodest?

However, it was very much like him in his younger days, except he had never been this boastful in front of his mother. Instead, he saved his bold words for the classmates and teachers at school who looked down on him.

"How are you getting along with your classmates?"

"Grandpa and grandma told me to be cautious about making friends, saying I’m the eldest young master of the Lu Family and I shouldn’t befriend people who approach me because of my identity."

"Hmm, that’s correct, you should listen to your grandparents."

"Dad, you and mom have been married for so long, when are you going to have more kids?" Tongtong couldn’t help but start nagging.

"I don’t mind, but that’s up to your mom."

The father and son chatted until they arrived at Tongtong’s school. Tongtong turned to say goodbye to Lu Han before getting out of the car.

Lu Han parked the car and just watched as Tongtong walked towards the school gates. Along the way, when classmates greeted him, he coolly nodded in response.

He didn’t embrace them or even make much small talk, seeming rather impatient.

Lu Han shook his head; although not his biological child, Tongtong was very much like him—he too disliked getting physically close with peers, messing around and joking.

Because of this, some kids had tried to bully him, but unfortunately, they were no match for him.

After dropping off Tongtong, Lu Han went to buy some clay oven rolls for Tang Su, including some freshly ground soy milk from the store owner, before heading back home.

The rolls were best when hot, so Lu Han brought breakfast to the room where Tang Su, still asleep, was awakened by Lu Han. Opening her eyes, she was still a bit confused, hardly believing her eyes when she saw Lu Han.

"Lu Han, you’re really back?"

"Yes, someone has been complaining about feeling abandoned, so I had to come back. What if my backyard caught fire? I’d have to put it out," he joked.

Tang Su blushed; she had been drinking that night and posted impulsively. Later, she got so busy she forgot to change it.

Just as Tang Su was about to grab her phone to change the status, Lu Han snatched it away and placed it on the nightstand, "I bought your favorite clay oven rolls and freshly ground soy milk. Go brush your teeth and come eat while it’s still hot."

"Mm, thank you," she said.

Tang Su nodded, her feet touching the ground the moment she suddenly dared not make any sudden movements, realizing not only had Lu Han returned, but he had thoroughly devoured her the previous night.

For the next few days, Lu Han was like a madman, seemingly determined to compensate for the one and a half months of marital duties he had missed. A week later, Tang Su really couldn’t take it anymore.

Luckily, Sun Qing was busy with many things. Even though her married status disqualified her from being a bridesmaid for Sun Qing, whenever Sun Qing wanted to shop for items to decorate her new home, she’d call Tang Su for company.

Tang Su was happy to oblige.

The week Lu Han returned, he was almost always at home, clinging to Tang Su, leaving her little time to visit the bookstore or coffee shop. Fortunately, the employees hired by Wu Jie were excellent. Plus, owning shares, they were highly motivated.

After all, good performance meant a share in the profits, which was equivalent to working for themselves and earning more money, naturally encouraging their diligence.

Tang Su thought this model was quite good.

At least she didn’t have to act like a foreman every day, Tang Su had more time to do what she was interested in, such as agreeing to write the new screenplay for Bai Simen and his team.

On Bai Simen’s advice, Tang Su now worked on screenplays instead of novels.

The focus was on IP adaptations, so she didn’t need to release a new work every year. Releasing one every two or three years, and if it became a hit, like "First Love," then it was much more profitable than writing a novel every year.

It also gave her a greater sense of achievement.

Tang Su felt the same way, and besides, while others wrote screenplays to make a living, she wasn’t just running a store or writing scripts for the money, so she had more time to prepare.

Lu Han had been pestering Tang Su at home for a week. That day, Tang Su received a call from Sun Qing, who said she wanted to buy a bedside lamp and asked Tang Su to go shopping with her.

Tang Su immediately agreed, and Lu Han went to the hospital as well.

Bai Dingxian was getting married, and the hospital needed someone on-site; he took a few days to replace Bai Dingxian so he could focus on his preparations to be a groom.

Tang Su and Sun Qing visited several lighting stores, but none had a bedside lamp that satisfied Sun Qing, who eventually gave up and planned to look online.

When Sun Qing went out shopping, she naturally didn’t return empty-handed, so although they didn’t buy a lamp, she dragged Tang Su to buy new clothes.

Sun Qing bought several outfits from the new season’s collection in one go.

This year-end, Sun Corporation’s performance was extremely pleasing, and as the largest shareholder, her dividend was the best.

Sun Qing didn’t just buy several new outfits for herself, she also gifted Tang Su two sets, to which Tang Su protested that she had too many clothes. Sun Qing scolded her, "Are you even a woman? A woman’s closet can never have too many clothes, only too few."

Tang Su: "..."

She had heard too much toxic positivity.

After buying clothes, the two went to a coffee shop, where Tang Su treated her to coffee and pastries.

While Tang Su was ordering, Sun Qing noticed the deep kiss mark on her neck and clicked her tongue in immense envy. The couple had been married for more than half a year and still shared a strong affection.

She and Bai Dingxian, clearly in their romantic phase, yet he always acted less interested in her.

It wasn’t that he was incapable; the previous time, she purposely got Bai Dingxian drunk, and he was quite good at it.

But when sober, he just wasn’t that proactive towards her.

Not like Lu Han, who seemed always ready to devour Tang Su at any moment.

Looking at Tang Su’s status update from a few days ago, changing from "living like a widow" to "please give me a break," Sun Qing could imagine the kind of bliss Tang Su was experiencing.

Alas—

"What’s wrong?" Hearing Sun Qing’s silent sigh, the third time that day, Tang Su worried whether she might be experiencing pre-wedding jitters.

"Nothing," Sun Qing shook her head, not wanting to worry Tang Su.

"You have to tell me if something is up, don’t hide it from me."

"Yes, of course, I will."

After finishing their coffee, Bai Dingxian called to ask where she was and said he would take her home for dinner that evening, and Lu Han and Tang Su would join as well.

"Lu Han and Tang Su are coming back too? Okay then, I’m with Tang Su right now, we’ll head over later ourselves."

"Sure." Bai Dingxian didn’t say much else before hanging up.

Sun Qing: "..."
