Chapter 589: 551 Player’s World (two updates in one)_2
Tang Su walked over to the dining table and sat down, greeting Lu Maoyan first, calling him "Dad." Now that they had registered their marriage, she was Lu Family’s daughter-in-law and naturally had to change how she addressed him.
"Sister, brother-in-law," Tang Su called out to Lu Zhu and Song Mingxiu across the table after greeting the elder.
"Hmm, who knows what delicacy Lu Han is cooking up for you in there, we certainly haven’t got any," said Lu Zhu with a hint of sourness. She wasn’t really hankering to eat it; it was more that she felt Lu Han might be spoiling Tang Su a bit too much.
"Let’s all eat together later," Tang Su offered to share.
"No thanks, I’m not going to fight over it with you," said Lu Zhu.
As soon as Lu Zhu finished speaking, Lu Han brought out the red wine eggs he had cooked for Tang Su.
Looking at the dark red eggs, almost indistinguishable from the color of blood, Lu Zhu suddenly lost all appetite, especially with the matching metallic smell of blood permeating the air.
Who on earth came up with the idea of red wine eggs? Red wine is just red wine, eggs are just eggs, why would someone think of blending these two incongruent things together?
Could they even taste good?
Bai Wei explained that women in the south drink them every day during their postpartum confinement.
Anyway, Lu Zhu simply couldn’t accept it.
Without finishing her milk, she grabbed Song Mingxiu and left.
This was the first time Tang Su had ever eaten or even seen these eggs.
The moment she smelled them, she instinctively felt repelled.
But knowing that Lu Han had personally made them for her, and that he would never harm her, made her decide to drink it despite disliking the smell. She closed her eyes, picked up the bowl, and drank it. Thankfully, Lu Han had served it at just the right temperature so it wouldn’t scald her mouth.
"Tang Bao, if you’re not used to the taste, you don’t have to eat it, but it is Lu Han’s thoughtful gesture. In the future, during your confinement, he’ll definitely take good care of you," said Bai Wei.
Tang Su smiled with pursed lips, "It’s quite delicious, Mom."
She wasn’t just being polite; she truly meant it.
The red wine eggs might not smell great, but the soup tasted sweet, and the cooked wine had lost its astringent taste.
"As long as you can eat it, that’s good. Drink a bowl every day during your confinement, and I guarantee your health will be excellent," Bai Wei assured her.
"Yes," Tang Su agreed.
"Actually, this has a similar effect to the wine lees eggs from Hua City," interjected Lu Maoyan.
Lu Han said nothing, just watched Tang Su ensuring she drank every last drop.
Tongtong, who had the keenest observation in the room, noticed a cut on Lu Han’s index finger. "Dad, are you hurt?"
Alerted by Tongtong, Tang Su looked at Lu Han’s finger and indeed, there was a distinct cut on his index finger. "How did you get hurt? Did you cut yourself?"
Glancing at it, Lu Han said with a smile, "It’s nothing."
"No, you’re making red wine eggs. There’s no need for a knife. How did you manage to cut your finger?" Bai Wei wasn’t particularly sympathetic. Getting minor injuries while cooking was quite normal. Only those who did nothing could possibly not get hurt at all.
But Bai Wei said this more as a tease—after all, Lu Han was grown up, not a child just learning to chop vegetables. How could he inflict such a long cut on his finger?
"Slipped," Lu Han explained nonchalantly.
He wouldn’t tell them that he had cut himself deliberately to draw blood.
The ancients said that human blood could be used as medicine, and this wasn’t entirely false.
However, not everyone’s blood could be used as medicine.
His blood, just happened to be suitable.
Professor Ming once said that his medical practice was a gift from the heavens, but the fact that his blood could be used in medicine absolutely could not be disclosed.
Therefore, except for the members of You Ming and Professor Ming, no one else knew about this.
His blood had only been used to save members of the Cult. Unfortunately, Cunning Rabbit didn’t survive long enough to receive his aid.
Afterward, he became the new Cunning Rabbit.
Because the Cult, being a group of seven, couldn’t afford to lose a single member.
Joining the Cult and becoming Cunning Rabbit meant taking on the responsibility to fight demons and eradicate evil.
The Cult represented positive energy, organized by Professor Ming. Each member had benefited from Professor Ming and was therefore willing to follow his commands.
They would strike wherever he pointed.
Opposing the positive force of the Cult, other sinister organizations emerged, among which the most notorious and the one Professor Ming dreaded most was the one known as Player’s World.
The name might sound like that of a game.
Actually, it was founded by someone who claimed to be a priest, under the pretense of controlling the fates of others. This organization resembled a Cult more than anything else.
And it had plenty of followers.
They would accept anyone, as long as the person’s intentions were sufficiently malicious.
People with integrity and positive energy were also on their radar, but they could never win them over due to the divergence in fundamental values.
