Chapter 561: 524 That’s his act (2nd update)
With just two days left, Tang Su barely stepped out as Lu Han’s clinginess was indeed formidable.
The day after they dropped off Tang Feng, Lu Han drove her to the hypermarket, and they bought loads of dry food, bread, biscuits, sausages, milk tea, milk, yoghurt, jelly, various kinds of filling cereal, and a decent amount of instant noodles.
Such a massive shopping spree dizzied Tang Su, who initially thought Lu Han bought all this stuff for a camping trip or something.
After they got home, Lu Han locked the door and even hung a sign on it, and next thing she knew, Tang Su was dizzily pressed onto the couch in the living room.
And then, she spent two days in a haze without stepping outside, her body almost falling apart from Lu Han’s ravaging, especially her waist which she couldn’t straighten at all.
Although winter had passed and the Beginning of Spring had long arrived, the weather remained cold, and there she was, being pressed by Lu Han against the bay window, the floor, the coffee table, even in the kitchen...
There seemed to be memories everywhere, and hardly any of them were on the bed proper.
Tang Su didn’t even dare to think about it.
This shameless life was simply outrageous.
The day they went out was Lantern Festival, and Tang Su didn’t forget to have Lu Han drive to the small pub to pick up Lin Jiaojiao before bringing her to their house for dinner.
Lin Jiaojiao initially refused, as for so many years she had only spent this festival with Elder Tan and Lu Han, besides her own family.
She had forgotten what it was like to have a lively family gathering.
Worried that her unease would dampen the spirits of Tang Su’s family, Lin Jiaojiao found Tang Su’s enthusiasm made it impossible for her to decline.
She even called Su Ruoan, who enthusiastically convinced her to come with repeated maternal endearments over the phone. Unable to refuse Su Ruoan’s warm and sincere invitation, Lin Jiaojiao agreed.
She brought her homemade wine and insisted on stopping to buy some fancy fruit baskets and milk on the way, only then agreeing to go.
Unable to convince her otherwise, Tang Su let her make the purchases.
Lin Jiaojiao wanted to buy even more, but Tang Su stopped her, "Really, there’s no need to buy so much, just one fruit basket, a box of milk, and the wine in the trunk. Nothing else."
Tang Su was firm, and Lin Jiaojiao had no choice but to concede.
After picking up the fruit and milk, Tang Su bent down to lift a box of milk and Lin Jiaojiao saw the spotty marks on Tang Su’s body.
"Lu Han is a dog of a man too, just as bad as Elder Tan," Lin Jiaojiao teased with a laugh.
Having not seen Elder Tan for just a couple of days, she found she actually missed him quite a bit. They texted daily, sometimes sending voice messages, but Elder Tan seemed to be too busy to even make a phone call.
She had sent him video invitations, only to be declined each time, followed by his message, "In the hospital, not convenient."
She understood; he was with Tan Rongrong in the hospital, and Tan Rongrong quite disliked her.
In Tan Rongrong’s eyes, Lin Jiaojiao was nothing but a vixen who bewitched her father.
For the sake of Tan Rongrong’s illness, she decided not to hold it against her.
Once Elder Tan was done with his current obligations, she planned to settle the score with him.
Tang Su: "..."
Looking down, Tang Su realized what Lin Jiaojiao was talking about and her cheeks instantly turned scarlet.
Biting her lip, she explained softly, "Lu Han wasn’t like this before, he’s like this now because he’s going on a business trip, so..."
Lin Jiaojiao, hearing her explanation, laughed heartily. She intended to keep her volume down, but Tang Su was so cute and shy that it was simply too funny.
"Why explain to me? It would be nice if Lu Han is like Elder Tan. And if he wasn’t like this before, he was just pretending. You’ll see in the future."
"..."
Tang Su was puzzled, was Jiaojiao complimenting Lu Han?
She felt that Lu Han wouldn’t be like this after these two days, letting some things slide, showing some temper, it was because he was leaving after all.
She understood.
Day in and day out like this, how exhausted she would be! Her back would never straighten; did she not need to work anymore?
Might as well just lie down flat at home every day.
"Let’s go." Lin Jiaojiao, noticing Tang Su spacing out, called her.
Lu Han was taking a call outside the fruit shop, and when he caught a glimpse of the two ladies coming out with their purchases, he hung up and went over to help them put everything into the trunk.
After the two ladies got into the car, Lu Han walked around the vehicle once. There were no anomalies or children squatting on the ground playing, so he got into the car and drove away.
They arrived at the Tang Family’s place.
Tang Su’s godmother, Zhao Xinlan, was also there. She had originally suggested going out to eat, but Su Ruoan said that the Lantern Festival should be celebrated at home, and besides, there weren’t many of them.
Tang Shengyi only needed to report to his department, and as long as there were no surgeries requiring his presence today, he could slip back to prepare some dishes; there wouldn’t be any problems.
Moreover, Tang Su and Lu Han were both there, and everyone knew how to cook; it wasn’t like they were all lazy people who just waited to be fed and clothed. There was no need to eat out.
The seasonings at home were plentiful, and their culinary skills were not for sale. For satisfying their own cravings, they were absolutely top-notch.
Zhao Xinlan was eventually convinced.
Alright, if they wanted to eat at home, then staying in to eat it was.
Early in the morning, Tang Shengyi went to the vegetable market and bought all the ingredients for the dishes his wife had planned: a platter of cold cuts – buying others’ prepared meats and then cutting and arranging them themselves was all they needed to do.
The most time-consuming task was simmering soup.
Luckily, modern soup pots came with timers and complete automatic controls.
After preparing the ingredients and broth, they just needed to fill it to the right water level and let it cook without supervision, unlike the past when it was stewed on a stove using a clay pot and someone had to keep an eye on the fire to ensure the bubbling broth didn’t extinguish the flames.
Tang Su’s uncle had returned to Beijing just when they were coming back home, and Tang Su was rather perplexed about where her uncle had gone over the New Year’s period.
Bai Simen and the others had already started filming in Beijing, yet he hadn’t rushed back and had only returned a couple of days ago.
He hadn’t wanted to return, but it was his mother who insisted on sending him back, saying he hadn’t even spent the New Year with his grandmother. Now that his grandmother’s health had only slightly improved, she forced Su Yangming to return to Beijing.
Her godmother also echoed the sentiment, and with no choice left, after listening to the two beautiful ’older sisters,’ her uncle hurried back to Beijing.
Tang Su introduced Lin Jiaojiao to her godmother.
"Hello, Auntie." Lin Jiaojiao greeted.
"Good girl, here’s a late New Year red envelope for you. It’s a little something from your auntie, don’t decline it."
"...Thank you, Auntie." Lin Jiaojiao could never have imagined, from the time her foster mother left her until she resentfully returned to the Lin Family and spent several years as their daughter, that now she would be receiving a New Year red envelope from a relative she had only just met.
Over the years, Elder Tan had given her many red envelopes, but they couldn’t fill the void in her heart for some things.
"It’s not much money, so no need to thank me. Tang Su, take Jiaojiao to the living room to sit. This side, your godmother will take care of it."
"Okay, I’ll take her to watch TV first, and I’ll come to help you in a bit."
"No need," refused Zhao Xinlan.
