Chapter 491: 456 Reopening (1 more update)

Tang Su and Lu Han strolled through two streets before choosing that handmade noodle burger joint, ordering one hundred burgers and a hundred cups of cola, which were to be delivered to the bookstore for the first hundred customers who came in to shop the next day.

The amount of consumption didn’t matter; they could just buy one book and still qualify.

They also ordered ten extra to serve as snacks for the staff meal.

"Do you need me to help out tomorrow? I can switch shifts," Lu Han offered.

"No need, we have enough hands on deck, don’t worry. I have experience, it’s just that tomorrow might be a bit hectic. If you send me a message or something, I might not be able to reply in time."

"That’s okay, I’ll take care of the logistics tomorrow and ensure I absolutely won’t cause you any trouble."

"Thank you, Doctor Lu, then let me treat you to a movie."

"Sure."

Hand in hand, the two headed to the cinema, blending perfectly into the circle of college students who had just started dating.

At the cinema, Tang Su took charge of picking out a movie and then decided which one to watch, while Lu Han went to buy cola and popcorn next to the ticket counter.

These were the standard accompaniments to movie watching nowadays.

But in addition to these, many young people were also carrying milk tea.

Tang Su chose a romance film—"The Severed Soul of Blue Bridge"—an old movie with a lot of flavor.

The theater was named "Revisiting Classics."

Not many young people liked this theater; it was a small hall, but Tang Su really enjoyed it because it ensured they could watch the movie in peace and quiet.

She had seen this movie back in her school days, but at that time, probably due to insufficient life experience and being too young, she didn’t quite understand it.

She just felt that the female protagonist really had it tough.

Not understanding it, Tang Su was willing to watch it a few more times. Each viewing brought a different appreciation, and that was enough for her.

After the movie was over, the two came out to find night had fallen.

They ate dinner in the square and then went straight home.

As they went up from the basement level to the first floor, Wei Yingzi came in holding a box of spicy snail noodles, followed closely by some other people, who couldn’t be avoided.

"Hello, Tang Su, Doctor Lu," Wei Yingzi greeted them.

"Hi, Wei the photographer, just having that for dinner?"

"Yeah, I have to stay up late tonight to sort out photos. Oh, that’s right, Tang Su, can I get your brother’s phone number again? I dropped my phone into the sink and I got a new one, but all the numbers are gone."

"Oh, sure."

Tang Su remembered her elder brother’s mobile number by heart and didn’t even need to check her phone before giving it to Wei Yingzi.

"Thanks."

After saving Tang Feng’s number again, Wei Yingzi pocketed her phone.

"What do you need my brother for? It’s too early to pay the rent."

"No, I want to talk to him about converting one of the rooms into a darkroom. I want to use it for developing photos."

"Oh, I see."

"Will your brother agree?" Wei Yingzi was quite worried.

She knew Tang Feng was an easygoing person, but it really depended on the issue.

She was asking for a not-so-small modification to the apartment, and it wasn’t a trivial matter.

"He should, it’s no big deal really, it’s for your work," Tang Su felt there was no reason to refuse such a request.

"Photographer Wei, do you really need to work overtime tonight?"

"Do you have something in mind? It’s not absolutely necessary; I could do it tomorrow during the day as well."

"I have something to do during the day tomorrow and would like to ask you to help us take some photos at the event I’m organizing," said Lu Han. "I’ll post them on the walls of the bookstore and coffee shop afterward. I’ll pay you double your normal daily wage. How does that sound? I don’t want you to be at a disadvantage."

"No need, just cover the food, and besides, the rent Tang Feng charged me was very low. I’ve already taken advantage of him. What time tomorrow? Send me the address, and I’ll be there on time."

"Alright, I’ll send you the exact address in a bit."

"Mm."

Wei Yingzi left, waving goodbye to them before exiting the elevator.

In the evening, the considerate Lu Han made sure Tang Su had a good night’s sleep. Before sleeping, Tang Su took a very comfortable petal bath and even lit some sleep-inducing aromatherapy.

**

The next day at nine.

Tang Su arrived at the venue at eight. The opening events for both shops were held simultaneously, with Tang Su stationed at the bookstore, mainly because Zhang Li and Zhao Yue alone definitely wouldn’t be enough staff.

Having tried Zhou Hang’s cooking skills yesterday, she trusted that even in her absence, the coffee they served would surely sell like hotcakes.

After all, it was almost the New Year.

Once year-end bonuses were issued, everyone’s wallets would be a bit fuller.

Instead of heading to the hospital, Lu Han went to help at the coffee shop that morning.

Tang Su needed more help but also worried about Lu Han skipping work and possibly getting fired, which would be problematic.

Lu Han reassured her not to worry, as no one would want to fire him unless he decided to quit.

Lu Han was very confident, and Tang Su liked his self-assured demeanor.

With Lu Han at the coffee shop, Tang Su felt even more at ease.

Wei Yingzi came with them by carpooling. Before any customers arrived, she had already taken many photos of the food, the egg-knocking activity, and the red packet wall.

Previously, when Tang Su was only earning a little, she was very generous to her customers. Membership top-ups were always substantial, and she offered many discounts.

Now, Tang Su was even more generous.

However, all of these expenses were accounted for in the cost; at worst, they’d just earn a bit less.

Earn less, gain more—that was Tang Su’s business model.

As soon as the clock struck nine, the bookstore was ready to open its doors to customers.

By eight fifty, many parents with their children were already waiting outside to join the event. Glancing over, one could see there were more than a hundred people.

The three of them were extremely busy: Zhao Yue handled top-ups, Zhang Li was in charge of the draw, and Tang Su took care of prize redemption. They all worked together in a well-coordinated and efficient manner.

The kids were the happiest, with food, drinks, and games. They could knock on the big golden eggs and play with the lucky draw wheel.

By not even eleven o’clock, the gifts and red packets Tang Su had prepared were already half gone.

The top-up counter had also broken the five-figure mark.

Zhao Yue’s face was almost bursting with smiles.

During a break, Tang Su glanced at her, thinking to herself that indeed, she wasn’t the only one who was money-crazed.

Moreover, most people chose the annual VIP top-up.

Tang Su had stored many genuine children’s books, and when the little ones spotted something they liked, they would often leave with a few books in hand.

The bustling scene was captured by Wei Yingzi in her camera. When there was a lull, she came over to joke with Tang Su, "Tang Su, I think I could come work for you."

"Stop joking, big-time photographer. I can’t afford your rates," Tang Su replied.

Just as Wei Yingzi was about to say something, the fashionably late Tang Feng entered, "Sorry, I’m late."

Tang Su looked at her older brother somewhat speechlessly, "Big brother, you could’ve been even later.

Tang Feng: "..."
