Chapter 468: 435 Troublesome Kid (1st update)
Lu Han provided the police with a clear and well-organized account of the entire process. When the police questioned the other party, all six of them started playing dumb and refused to cooperate.
They just wanted to take advantage of their greater number to make the other party publicly apologize and bow down. They hadn’t expected Lu Han and Tang Su to be so tough and to call the police directly.
The child wasn’t injured and was crying inexplicably. They subconsciously believed the child was being bullied by them and only wanted to show support for the child without thinking much further.
They originally didn’t want to deal with the police either.
With a perfunctory remark, the two old ladies said they would just consider themselves unlucky and let the matter slide.
However, Tang Su and Lu Han were not willing to let it go so easily.
It had ruined their mood and even delayed their lunchtime. With just a simple "considering it bad luck," they wanted to gloss over the incident. How could they think it was that easy?
What, were the people they usually encountered too indulging towards their family, spoiling them to the point of lawlessness and arrogance?
Well, today, they had messed with the wrong people.
They were hoping to slip away with a simple admission of bad luck, but Tang Su was not going to let them off so easily.
"To do something wrong, a whole family bullying others, and not even a single apology, you can’t just slip away like that. It’s not possible," Tang Su said with determination.
"Well, what would you like to do?" the policewoman asked in a strictly official manner. She was ready to relay Tang Su’s requirements to the other party.
"A sincere apology is certainly due," Tang Su stated.
"Alright, I will communicate that."
Since the arrival of the police, the onlookers interested in the spectacle had decreased, and many didn’t want to appear on someone else’s camera. Families quickly left the noodle shop.
Soon, the child’s parents came over with the police. "Both of you, it’s just a misunderstanding. There’s no need to make it so big. Look, your man has also reddened my wrist."
"That’s because you wanted to hit me first," Tang Su said without any courtesy.
"But my husband’s wrist is red. That too is a fact. Let’s all just take a step back," the woman tried to smooth things over.
The couple had a simple objective: they came to negotiate to avoid apologizing.
Publicly apologizing would be too embarrassing; their status wouldn’t allow them to lose face that way.
"Take a step back, you say it so easily. If you’re not willing to apologize, then please hire a lawyer. Let the police record your work addresses and when the time comes, I will send a lawyer’s notice and subpoena to you," Tang Su replied.
"Could we have a word in private, if you don’t mind?" The man coughed and addressed Lu Han and Tang Su.
After exchanging a glance with Tang Su, Lu Han immediately understood. Given this man’s likely important status, his request for a private word was probably an attempt to threaten them discreetly, trying to intimidate them into backing down.
"We do mind," Lu Han and Tang Su said in unison.
Seeing they were unyielding, the man and woman’s expressions changed simultaneously.
In the end, the couple exchanged glances as well.
The man left in a huff, and the woman glared at them, "Let me tell you, both of you have provoked the wrong person. Today, we will not apologize. Remember this, it takes two to tango."
"Huh, your husband is an official?" Tang Su smirked lightly, noting the great sense of authority.
"If you really encountered an official, wouldn’t you be afraid?" the woman frowned and murmured softly.
She couldn’t understand where Tang Su’s confidence came from. There weren’t many ordinary people who would dare to stand up so firmly against them, right?
Everyone knows the principle that an arm can’t twist a thigh.
"Then I would be very curious to know which department he works in, what position he holds, and just what kind of backing allows your family to bully us, the ordinary people," Tang Su said loudly. She glanced at the woman and then at the man who had left angrily.
This man is really not a man; he hasn’t even solved the problem, yet he’s leaving the woman here and walking away so breezily.
Upon hearing this, the man’s resolute steps to take his family and leave halted. He turned around, staring intently at Tang Su.
"He isn’t a government official, don’t talk nonsense," the woman quickly denied.
These days, everyone has a smartphone. A slightly careless statement can bring disaster to their family, something the woman was well aware of.
Moreover, cyberbullying is frightening; not everyone has the mental strength to cope with it.
Their family, with both the elderly and children, certainly didn’t have the psychological resilience to withstand it.
"Let’s go," the man called to the woman. He also understood the law.
Even if they called the police now, since no one was injured, the police would have no grounds for a case; they would merely play a mediating role.
As for hiring a lawyer and all that, the man was even less afraid.
Any person with a job and a place of employment wouldn’t go to court over such a trivial matter. These days, everyone wanted to avoid trouble.
If the other party didn’t have a job or a stable workplace, even the cost of consulting a lawyer would be too much for the average person, let alone hiring one for a lawsuit with uncertain outcomes.
That would just be foolish.
"Oh," the woman responded, and turned to leave.
The police really had no way to deal with them; in civil disputes, they couldn’t just handcuff the public.
They could ask people to cooperate with an investigation, but if someone was unwilling to comply, the police couldn’t force them.
Lu Han and Tang Su also understood that as long as the mouth is on someone else’s face, if the person refused to apologize, they couldn’t force them to do so.
However, if they just walked away like this today, they would definitely face trouble.
Lu Han and Tang Su weren’t angry. With Tongtong present, they figured they might as well leave.
Just then, Tongtong suddenly turned pale, clutched his chest, and fainted.
Lu Han bent down to hold him. Tongtong quickly winked at him before closing his eyes and continuing to pretend to be unconscious.
Lu Han: "..."
This little kid was so sly; where on earth had he learned these tricks?
Naturally, Lu Han wasn’t going to expose him; after all, the little guy was just trying to help.
"Our child has fainted. Now you can detain the other parent. I suspect our child fainted from the shock of seeing him wanting to hit his sister."
"..."
The police officer hesitated slightly, but Lu Han continued, stating he’s an otolaryngologist at Huanan Hospital, and they could verify that by calling the hospital.
"Now, the child needs emergency medical treatment."
Meanwhile, Tang Su had already called Bai Dingxian, and after briefly explaining the situation, Bai Dingxian immediately arranged for an ambulance to come.
The police immediately stopped the chubby boy’s family from leaving. According to what Lu Han said, it was the chubby boy’s father who wanted to hit Tang Su, so they only asked the father to stay for the investigation, while the rest were free to leave.
"I’m telling you, I know the law, and you shouldn’t be fooled by those little brats who haven’t even grown out their fur," the chubby boy’s father said sternly and with a fierce expression.
"I understand, but right now the child has indeed fainted, and we’ve already called 120. Whether it has anything to do with you, we will know soon enough."
The chubby boy’s family: "..."
