Chapter 385: She’s got some nerve—asking you for a divorce? (2 updates)_1

The floor and ward number, Jiang Tao sent them altogether.

He was certain Zhao Xinlan would come.

In Jiang Tao’s view, Zhao Xinlan had been under his control all her life; she would never be able to escape from his grasp.

Recalling how Jiang Wu almost knelt to him last night, begging him not to disclose the incident involving Shanshan, Jiang Tao felt it was a good opportunity to save his wife’s reputation.

Moreover, as long as Zhao Xinlan came back to help him retain his current status, why should he worry about Shanshan’s future?

When the time came, they could send Jiang Shanshan overseas for a few years. Upon her return, she’d be a returnee, and her value would be as if gilded, not doomed.

When Zhao Xinlan and Tang Su arrived, Jiang Tao was leaning on the railing outside of the ward, seemingly lost in thought.

Hearing the familiar footsteps, Jiang Tao immediately turned around. "Lanlan?... I knew you would come. Thank you."

What Jiang Tao didn’t expect was that Zhao Xinlan didn’t come alone; she had brought Tang Su with her.

However, Jiang Tao quickly settled down. Although he had little contact with Tang Su, he didn’t dislike her.

Not like her parents, who sometimes were like thorns, utterly unmanageable.

Hard to deal with.

"Tang Su, I also thank you for coming to see Shanshan," Jiang Tao appreciated Tang Su’s presence.

"Jiang Shanshan she..."

Tang Su began speaking with difficulty, but before she could finish, He Wenhui and Jiang Wu returned from the doctor’s office. Upon seeing Tang Su, the couple became extremely agitated.

"Tang Su, you vixen, how dare you show your face here? What are you doing here? Huh? Doing what?" He Wenhui, in a fit of rage, ran over like a frenzied cat, claws outstretched as if she wanted to tear Tang Su’s face to shreds.

Jiang Tao, with quick reflexes, stepped in to stop He Wenhui.

Zhao Xinlan also reacted swiftly, instinctively shielding Tang Su behind her as soon as He Wenhui charged forward.

Zhao Xinlan frowned tightly. Had He Wenhui gone mad?

What had Tang Su done to her, for her to lash out at Tang Su like this?

It was Tang Su who received the rabies vaccine recently, not a rabies attraction shot.

"He Wenhui, have you gone mad? Tang Su kindly accompanied your sister-in-law to visit Shanshan, and you, as Shanshan’s mother, is this how you treat the people who come to visit?"

"Big brother, big sister-in-law, we welcome, but this girl named Tang Su, you have no idea how outrageous she was. Last night, Wenhui and I went to plead with Lu Han, we were almost on our knees, but that guy Lu Han just refused to rescue Shanshan, and it was all because of the brainwashing by Tang Su."

Tang Su: "..."

This couple was truly peculiar.

Just like that, they pinned a crime on her?

Lu Han refused to go, and it was her brainwashing?

Did they see it, or did they hear it?

"Last night, you two went to find Lu Han?" Zhao Xinlan caught a hint of a problem and repeated the question.

Yesterday, Tang Su and the others had just returned from Beijing, and then this incident with Shanshan getting kidnapped and bullied happened. So, Shanshan went missing, and they went to Lu Han?

What did they want from Lu Han?

Could it be, Lu Han was behind the kidnapping? That Shanshan getting bullied was also instructed by Lu Han? Is that what they were implying?

"Yes, last time Tang Su had an issue, Lu Han found her less than a day later, so we thought..."

"No, wait a minute, they just came back yesterday. How did you all know about this if not from me? And why didn’t you report Jiang Shanshan’s disappearance to the police, but seek out Lu Han instead?"

Zhao Xinlan caught onto the doubt and fired off questions one after another.

"Sis-in-law, is this really the time to get entangled in these issues? Those aren’t the main points, okay?" He Wenhui was almost driven mad with irritation; she simply couldn’t fathom why Zhao Xinlan was harping on these details. Was she here to seek medical advice or to trouble them?

"How are they not the main point? With such a serious incident befalling Shanshan, Lu Han is just a doctor. When Tang Su had troubles last time, he too turned to the police. Aren’t you reporting this?"

"Of course, we reported it," He Wenhui said, still immensely relieved at that moment that they had notified the police.

Otherwise, it really would have been difficult to explain.

"You reported it and still sought out Lu Han? Do you think Lu Han is more capable than the police? Is that possible?" Zhao Xinlan kept on questioning.

"Sis-in-law, do you mean to tell me you don’t know that Lu Han knows people from the Longmen?" Jiang Wu looked incredulously at Zhao Xinlan.

"What’s this Longmen?" Despite being a Hua City local, Zhao Xinlan’s social circle was quite narrow; she was straightforward and not particularly good at remembering things.

Even if she had heard of Longmen, she wouldn’t bother to keep people she had no interaction with in mind.

"Are you joking with me, sis-in-law? You don’t know about Longmen?" Jiang Wu’s voice rose in disbelief.

Jiang Tao was aware of Longmen’s status in Hua City, but he hadn’t expected that Lu Han would actually know people from Longmen.

However, that wasn’t the focus for today.

"What would I joke with you about?" Zhao Xinlan retorted with a look of incredulity.

Jiang Tao felt a secret joy; Jiang Wu had called Zhao Xinlan "sis-in-law" several times, and she hadn’t stopped him or asked him not to call her that.

It looked like there was hope for reconciliation.

"Cut the arguing, the both of you. What did the doctor say?" Jiang Tao pressed.

"The doctor said to start by treating the wounds on her body, and advised us as family members to be vigilant since some of the injuries were quite serious and there was a need to prevent infection. After the physical wounds have healed, they suggested we find a psychologist for Shanshan."

Jiang Wu conveyed the gravity of the situation as instructed by Jiang Tao.

"Is it that serious?" Zhao Xinlan truly sounded concerned. "What exactly happened?"

"Let’s discuss this slowly, have you had breakfast yet? I haven’t eaten either, how about we go downstairs to grab something?" Jiang Tao spoke gently to Zhao Xinlan and Tang Su.

"I already ate, godmother. I’ll wait for you in the parking lot," Tang Su had come along just to accompany Zhao Xinlan, not to visit Jiang Shanshan.

She wasn’t naive and understood that Jiang Tao suggesting breakfast meant he wanted to talk to Zhao Xinlan alone. Sensing this, Tang Su willingly gave them space for their private conversation.

"No need, Tang Su, I’ll go with you," said Zhao Xinlan, linking her arm with Tang Su’s and turning to Jiang Tao, "I think, given her condition today, Shanshan wouldn’t want to see me and Tang Su, so we will be leaving. As for the issues between us, they won’t change because of any incident."

"Of course, I am not that inhumane; I can postpone the three-day deadline I mentioned before, to give you some time to sort out your family matters. Afterwards, we can proceed with the divorce paperwork."

"Tang Su, let’s go."

"Oh."

Tang Su and Zhao Xinlan were nearly at the elevator when Jiang Wu finally reacted, "Big brother, is it true... she wants a divorce?"

"Why? She can’t even produce an egg, what right does she have to ask for a divorce?" Jiang Wu asked in a rush of angry confusion.

"Shut up."

After scolding his brother, Jiang Tao hurried after them.
