Chapter 121: 099 Tang Su’s Happiness, Overflowing in the Circle of Friends (2 more updates)_1

Tang Su’s call was from her queen mother.

It began with normal everyday concern, asking her how she had been doing these past few days, noting the lack of her usual work diaries in her social media Moments, or updates about new arrivals at the bookstore, or recommendations for some good coffee beans.

Tang Su also had a habit: before going to sleep, while she was applying a facial mask, she would read some good articles on her phone. If she found something worth sharing, she would share it.

However, these past two days, Tang Su had not posted any new updates on any of her social media tools, be it WeChat Moments, TikTok, or her Weibo.

Though Su Ruoan did not often take the initiative to call her daughter to express her concern, she did follow her daughter’s social media activities every day. She could tell whether her daughter was in a normal state of mind by the posts she made.

These two days, Tang Su hadn’t posted anything, and with Lu Han having previously visited them to talk about his feelings for Tang Su—and the daughter also honestly confessing that Lu Han was her first crush from her teenage years—

She was really curious if, in just these couple of days, the two young people had already poured out their hearts to one another and become a couple?

Faced with her mother’s everyday care, Tang Su had a smile on her lips the whole time, and through her words, she let Su Ruoan know that her life was sweeter than honey.

As someone who had been through it herself, Su Ruoan may not have had a lovey-dovey relationship with Tang Shengyi, but there was love between them.

So, Su Ruoan could feel the changes in Tang Su.

After the routine care was over, Su Ruoan cut to the chase, "So, are you with your senior Lu now?"

Tang Su choked: "..."

Uh?

Could her mother, Her Majesty, not be so perceptive?

Had she seen something through the telephone line?

"Gone mute? What, has the aloof senior lost his cool?" Su Ruoan kept probing.

She was actually happy for her daughter.

In the vast sea of people, to meet the one you like, and so coincidentally, that person likes you back—that’s definitely the luckiest and happiest thing in life.

Tang Su turned her head to look for Lu Han and discovered that at some point, he had gone out to the balcony to answer a call.

Only then did Tang Su turn back and playfully scolded her mother on the other end of the phone, "Your Majesty, you’re mocking someone."

"At Lu Han’s house?" Su Ruoan quickly sensed something was off with her daughter.

Knowing she couldn’t hide anything, Tang Su admitted, "Yeah, we just finished dinner together, and it’s still early, so I came over to sit for a while."

"Mhm, sitting for a while is fine, but girls should still be reserved, Tangtang. Do you understand what Mom means? No matter how much you like someone, you have to keep a girl’s bottom line. No matter how times change, no matter how other girls behave, you are you, understand?"

"I know, Mom."

Tang Su’s cheeks were hot. She had indeed thought that being with Lu Han, she didn’t mind whether it was before or after marriage. As long as Lu Han wanted her, she would give herself to him.

But, her mother’s words had made her confused, feverish brain a lot clearer.

No matter how much you like someone, you have to keep a girl’s bottom line. This isn’t just about a girl’s bottom line but also about the family’s values.

That’s why so many girls who become pregnant before marriage are not respected by their future in-laws, and also face disdain from their own families. This is the reason.

Unwed pregnancy not only subjects oneself to judgment but also raises questions about whether the parents raised their daughter well.

The times may be progressing, and it’s good to have modern thoughts, but that should stay in the realm of thoughts, and not in that way.

Tang Su thanked her mother for the reminder and glanced at the time on her wrist, telling Su Ruoan, "When Lu Han finishes the call, I’ll tell him I’m going home."

"Alright, your godmother was looking for me, so I won’t chat with you any more."

"Mhm, farewell, Your Majesty."

On the other end, Su Ruoan hung up the phone.

She never envied other people’s children because her two children were like angels in her life.

Well-behaved, sensible, and willing to listen to their elders.

Lu Han’s call was from Jiang Shanshan, on behalf of Tongtong.

First, Jiang Shanshan had sent a message to Lu Han, saying that Tongtong had woken up from anesthesia and wanted to talk to him, hoping he would visit him at the hospital.

Only then did Lu Han pick up Jiang Shanshan’s call.

Tongtong indeed talked to him for a while using Jiang Shanshan’s phone. Later on, Tongtong asked him to tell her a bedtime story to help her sleep, as the pain from the operation was quite intense after the anesthesia wore off.

To avoid disturbing Tang Su’s call, Lu Han went out to the balcony to tell Tongtong a bedtime story, and as Tongtong listened to Lu Han’s story, the pain didn’t feel so bad.

The spiritual comfort Lu Han provided was very potent.

After comforting Tongtong and promising to visit her first thing in the morning, Lu Han hung up the phone.

Then, as Jiang Shanshan took the phone and was about to say something, Lu Han saw that Tang Su had finished her call and immediately hung up as well.

Jiang Shanshan: "..."

Jiang Shanshan’s face turned red with anger.

Not long ago, she had received a reply from her uncle, Jiang Tao, that Lu Han had declined the invitation to meet. Jiang Shanshan was also surprised—how could Lu Han even reject his uncle’s invitation?

Being part of the medical system himself, Jiang Tao had some renown within it—Lu Han should’ve been aware of that.

But he still turned it down.

It was then that Jiang Shanshan thought of using Tongtong, so she went back to the hospital, switched to a night shift, found time to go to Tongtong’s ward, and called Lu Han under Tongtong’s name.

If Lu Han could tell bedtime stories to Tongtong on the phone, Jiang Shanshan figured he must be free, and that Tang Su probably wasn’t with him.

She had thought that after Lu Han finished pacifying Tongtong, he would at least speak a few words with her, but she never imagined that his response would be to hang up the phone directly after comforting Tongtong.

Jiang Shanshan didn’t feel it was appropriate to call Lu Han back.

Had Tang Su already confessed her feelings to Lu Han?

Were they two already together?

Thinking about all these possibilities, Jiang Shanshan felt extremely irritated.

What should she do?

**

Over here, Tang Su was getting ready to say goodbye.

When Lu Han came in from the balcony, Tang Su told him, "Lu Han, it’s getting late, I should go back across the street."

Lu Han nodded, "Yeah, I’ll walk you over."

"Thank you."

"Why so formal?"

Tang Su picked up the takeaway food she had brought back. Lu Han didn’t even take out the roast duck that had been sitting for two days, deciding to discard it. If Tang Su wanted to eat it, she could just go to Beijing with him to eat freshly roasted duck.

After escorting Tang Su to her doorstep, Lu Han cautioned her, "Go to sleep early. You should try not to wash your hair at night. If you really need to, make sure to dry it thoroughly."

"Okay, I know."

"Get inside."

"Yeah."

Tang Su unlocked her door, then turned around to say goodnight to Lu Han and closed the door behind her.

Lu Han stood outside for a while; even the corridor’s motion sensor lights went out before he snapped back to reality and headed back.

Leaning against the cold door inside, Tang Su felt her boiling blood cool down just a tad. Then, she took a photo and sent it to her mother.

Her mother replied with an OK.

Afterward, Tang Su first arranged the red roses Lu Han had given her, then took a photo and shared it on her social media, captioning it as the first flowers she had received from someone she admired.

Then, Tang Su went to put the packed food in the fridge and soaked the Xiaomi in a clay pot, plugged it in, and set the timer.

She turned off the lights in the living room and went to her bedroom.

She began filling the bathtub with water, planning to take a hot bath to open up all her cells.

While soaking in the bath, Tang Su played with her phone and amidst her busy days, she received countless congratulations.

They were from Sun Qing, Sister Zhang and Sister Zhao from the bookstore, and Ruan Mei and Shen Cheng from the coffee shop.

All of them just sent a simple "Congratulations."

Ade sent congratulations too, but also included, "Boss, could you block Ajie when you post such blissful stuff on social media?"

Soon, Wu Jie replied, "Why should you block me?"

Ade tagged Wu Jie: "For your own good, don’t you understand?"

Wu Jie tagged Ade: "Thanks for being so thoughtful."

Following that, Wu Jie left a sincere comment for Tang Su, "Congratulations, finally your wishes have come true. Don’t listen to ignorant talk. There’s a kind of love that is about letting go, and another that is about blessing. So, if you want me to not be sad, just enjoy your happiness earnestly."

Tang Su tagged Wu Jie: "Yeah, I definitely will, thank you, Wu Jie! And you too, promise me you’ll find your happiness."

"Don’t worry, I definitely will," Wu Jie, standing on the balcony of his hotel room, looked up at the night sky of Hua City.

The night was full of brilliant stars, and tomorrow would be another sunny day.
