It wasn’t long before the door to the interrogation room was flung open with a loud slam. Then, a female police officer violently threw the files in her hands onto the table. Without a word, she turned the interrogation lamp to its brightest and shone it directly on An Yiqing.

The girl squinted her eyes against the bright light and frowned at the woman standing before her. The female police officer appeared to be in her mid-twenties, with a pretty face and an alluring figure. However, haughtiness spoiled her beauty, giving off an air of disdainful arrogance. It was clear that this police officer was no easy pushover.

Accompanying her was a young man of similar age. Judging by the way he followed behind her, he seemed to be quite subordinate to the female officer. Both of them must have just graduated and entered the workforce not long ago.

As soon as they took their seats, the female officer slammed her hand on the table and glared at An Yiqing.

"Name! Age! Occupation! Spill it out honestly!" she snapped, impatiently flipping through a notebook on the table.

"My name is An Yiqing, nineteen, a student at Xuan University," An Yiqing slowly stated, her mood unfazed by the arrogant policewoman.

"Xuan University?" The policewoman looked up, surprised, and gave the girl in front of her a skeptical once-over. With disbelief in her eyes, she asked, "Are you really from Xuan University?"

"If you don’t believe me, you can check," An Yiqing responded with a nod, unbothered by the scorn in the officer’s eyes.

The policewoman’s face stiffened for a moment, a hint of annoyance flickering in her eyes.

"Speak up! Why did you kill?" the policewoman demanded, adopting a contemptuous tone.

"Leng Leng, she is just a suspect..." the male police officer beside her interjected cautiously, reminding Zhao Lingling.

"Zhang Hua, shut up!" Zhao Lingling, the female officer, glared at him and scolded sharply before turning back to An Yiqing, tilting her chin up and demanding again, "Speak! Why did you kill?"

An Yiqing furrowed her brow, slightly irritated by Zhao Lingling’s haughty demeanor. What kind of odd character was this police station harboring, jumping to conclusions without evidence?

"Officer, I think you’re mistaken. I am here to assist with the investigation, not as a murderer," the girl said coolly, her eyes cast a chilly glance toward Zhao Lingling.

Zhao Lingling felt uncomfortable under An Yiqing’s gaze, her heart burning with anger as she stared back at the girl’s clear, bright eyes. She was just an unconvicted murderer; how dare she challenge her!

"Zhang Ping!" Zhao Lingling yelled ferociously at the male officer beside her, then pointed to the coffee on the table and said, "She is a criminal! Who gave her such privileges?! And why isn’t she in handcuffs?! She’s a murderer! What if she goes berserk?" Her words had already pronounced An Yiqing guilty!

"Leng Leng, she’s just a suspect..." Zhang Ping said cautiously from the side. Zhao Lingling came from a good family with powerful connections. She was cherished as a police beauty and was used to everyone jumping at her command. As a low-ranking officer with no connections, Zhang Ping would much rather stay out of her way than raise his voice to her.

"If I say she’s a murderer, then she is a—"

"Officer!" Before Zhao Lingling could finish, An Yiqing’s cold voice cut in, "I am here to assist with the investigation. There isn’t a single piece of evidence or testimony to suggest I am the killer. I hope you will choose your words wisely and not bring shame upon Xuandu Police Station."

"You—!" Zhao Lingling did not expect An Yiqing to speak so eloquently and to put forward her arguments so well, leaving her, the one who was actually in the wrong, looking all the more unreasonable. Annoyed and embarrassed, Zhao Lingling slammed the thick case file in front of An Yiqing, shooting her eyebrows up in anger, "Quit the nonsense! It’s just that the evidence hasn’t been found yet.
