Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Falling Ill_1

In the middle of the night, she was alternatingly feeling cold and hot, but she had grown accustomed to taking care of herself. So she lit a kerosene lamp and went to the kitchen to find a piece of ginger to make Ginger Water to drink. She then boiled some water, made a bath of ginger water, and only then did she begin to feel much more comfortable.

While in the tub, it crossed her mind that if she could have someone like Ye Ge to take care of her, life should be much easier, right?

However, Ye Ge had made it clear to her from the start, they were just ordinary friends.

Oh well, she might as well just keep taking care of herself.

...

Nan Quanyou only found out that Nan Feng was ill the next day.

Last night, Nan Feng came home late. But with Ye Ge present, he didn’t have the heart to scold her in front of him. He had planned to let her have a good sleep and then scold her the next day.

But after a night passed, most of Nan Quanyou’s anger had dissipated. As long as she had returned safely, that was all that mattered.

After all, she hunted so desperately for the sake of their home.

He thought that when she woke up, he would admonish her a bit, telling her not to push herself like that again.

But, when the sun was already high in the sky, Nan Feng still didn’t get up, he couldn’t hold back from knocking on her door anymore. After knocking for a while, he finally heard Nan Feng’s weak voice, "Dad, come in."

Nan Quanyou went in to find Nan Feng laying there, weak and listless. He promptly went over to feel her forehead. She was still feverish. Nan Quanyou instantly panicked. He completely forgot about his plan of reprimanding her and only managed to say concernedly, "Don’t be afraid, Fengfeng, I’ll go and pick some medicinal herbs for you. I’ll be back very soon."

People who lived in the mountains had their own way of dealing with fevers. He first went to the field to pick some black fire grass, a plant known for its effectiveness against fever.

After Nan Feng took the herbal decoction made from black fire grass, her fever subsided pretty quickly. However, she still felt weak and thus kept sleeping until noon.

Nan Quanyou cooked Nan Feng some plain rice porridge and also made her some Ginger Duck Egg Soup. After eating, she continued to sleep.

She didn’t know at what time she was suddenly woken up by Nan Quanyou, "Fengfeng, Ye Ge is here, hurry and come out!"

When Nan Feng woke up, she felt strange. It wasn’t Ye Ge’s first time visiting their home, so why was her father so excited?

She was currently sick!

Feeling weak, she still managed to get up.

Other than feeling a bit faint, there wasn’t any discomfort left in her body.

From the outside, Nan Quanyou called again, "Fengfeng, hurry and come out!"

"Okay, I’m coming!" Nan Feng had reached the door. When she opened the door, she was stunned!

Ye Ge was indeed standing in the yard, but what were those things in front of him?

One, two, three... exactly six! They were black covered with white quills.

Porcupines!

And they were the ones that had chased her up a tree last night.

Nan Feng turned to look at Ye Ge, yet Ye Ge seemed as calm as ever, showing no sign of taking credit for it, he simply said nonchalantly, "Took revenge for you."

Nan Feng asked in surprise, "You took out their whole nest?"

"Yes!" he replied.

Nan Feng’s heart started to pound, Ye Ge had stood up for her!

"How did you catch them?" she asked, making small talk.

"It was easy to catch them."

"..." Well, of course, with Ye Ge’s skill, a few porcupines wouldn’t be able to resist him.

She stood there, flushed to her ears, completely at loss about what to say next.

Luckily, the quick-witted Nan Quanyou brought out two stools, "Why don’t you two sit down and chat for a while. I’ll deal with these porcupines. Also, remember to have dinner at our place later, Ye Ge. Porcupine meat is very tender and can also be used as medicine!"

Ye Ge quickly waved him off, "No need, Uncle Nan. I’ll be leaving soon."

Ye Ge and Nan Feng sat on the stools in front of the house, and saw that Nan Quanyou had brought out the meat cleaver and chopping board. Nan Feng quickly reminded Nan Quanyou, "Father, be careful of their quills. They are hard to remove once they pierce the skin. If it weren’t for their quills, I wouldn’t have been chased up a tree!"

"Okay, I’ll be careful!" he assured her.
