However, he thought to himself, if the Imperial Noble Consort had ordered the extra ingredient be added, and she loves the Emperor so much, she surely wouldn’t poison him. Therefore, it should be safe for him to drink as well.

So, he drank it, grimacing as though bracing for a bitter medicine. He took one gulp, then another.

The porridge was gone. The Emperor didn’t want to spend too much time with Nan Feng, lest it starts rumors. Thus, the Emperor left.

Lady Nan Feng had already cleaned her bowl. Even though she borrowed the pot, she wasn’t the last one to use it. So she too left with Xiaoqing. Before that, she reminded Lin Zhong, "General Lin, when you leave, please return the pot for me. Otherwise, the Imperial Kitchen might not lend it to me next time."
