After another quarter of an hour, the crowd in the distance began to simmer and the soldiers on both sides started to make way.

The path in the middle had widened into something more substantial.

The first figures to appear on the road were some mounted guards, all tall, commanding, and with keen eyes scanned both sides of the procession, ready for any would-be assassins.

Next came more soldiers, some carrying plaques and others flags. Written on the flags was the character "Qin".

Then followed a group of maids, attired uniformly and beautifully. Behind them was an eight-man sedan, presumably carrying Lord Qin.

The window curtains of Lord Qin’s sedan were sheer, allowing those on the side of the road a vague glimpse of the figure within.

The path that Lord Qin travelled was hushed - each person held their breath, fearful of missing a glance at the esteemed official.

Just as Lord Qin passed by Nan Feng, a gust of wind blew open the sheer curtain revealing the man’s profile before her.

About fifty years old, his complexion was rosy, eyes sharp and lively, and sported a long beard. He was certainly a man with a commanding presence.

The sedan quickly passed by. Some people left, while others chose to follow the procession.

Nan Feng, who had been in the innermost part of the crowd, intended to leave but found herself caught in a sudden surge of people. She was pushed along by the crowd and had lost sight of Xiaoqing and Xiaolun.

Nan Feng was pushed for quite a distance before she finally managed to squeeze out of the crowd and exhaled a sigh of relief.

As she headed towards a less crowded place at a crossroad and stood in an open space to catch her breath, she saw a shadow flash across the street out of the corner of her eyes.

Ye Ge?

The shadow disappeared in a blink, causing Nan Feng to rub her eyes.

Did she see it wrong?

"Miss Nan, it’s been a while. How’s business lately?" Wan Hui, as he walked into Spikenard Square, enquired.

"Everything’s fine. But what brought you here today, Chairman Wan?" Nan Feng asked with a smile as she signaled Xiaoqing to get a stool for him.

"What could it be other than a breeze... It’s the season for the southern wind, haha! By the way, have you been practicing your writing lately? I heard there’s a test soon, and if you don’t pass, you’ll have to stay after class and copy out texts," Chairman Wan shared.

"Stay after class and copy out texts?" Upon hearing this, Nan Feng hurriedly poured a glass of water for Chairman Wan: "Chairman Wan, would you please do me a favor and let me know what the text is? I’ll start preparing in the next few days."

"What you’re required to copy isn’t for me to decide. Don’t think about bribing me, haha," Chairman Wan said, sipping his tea and laughing, then asked Nan Feng, "Speaking of which, didn’t we talk about the bank venture last time? Have you given it any thought?"
