Chapter 422: Chapter 424 Who will he love? _1
Nan Feng took the embroidered bag and inspected it. It had been beautifully sewn. Xue Ling’s handiwork was genuinely impressive. Knowing that the bag was for Nan Feng, she had embroidered a discarded umbrella on the side of the fish. It seemed as if the fish’s tears were not tears, but raindrops.
"I heard from Long San that you have no more family, and because of this, you might feel down. But shouldn’t you work hard at earning money to support yourself? Aren’t you considering how your future will be?" Nan Feng asked.
Nan Feng felt there was no need to hide anything in front of Xue Ling. She could speak her mind. Xue Ling wasn’t a sensitive soul, and with her laidback demeanor, she wouldn’t heed light words.
For instance, Long San’s harsh words never seemed to faze her.
Xue Ling, however, picked up on something important, her eyes sparking. "Long San mentioned me? What did he say to you about me?"
Nan Feng, remembering Long San’s disdainful expression when he mentioned Xue Ling, didn’t want to give Xue Ling false hope and blurted out. "He didn’t say much, just that you and him weren’t compatible."
Xue Ling’s face indeed fell in disappointment. "If he’s saying that to you, then he really mustn’t like me."
Nan Feng looked at her sympathetically. "So, are you still going to continue liking him?"
"I can’t help but fancy him," Xue Ling responded candidly. "But I will stay away from him in the future. I’ll just admire him from a distance."

...
By the time Nan Feng finished chatting with Xue Ling, they had arrived at the outpost in Van Jing County. She unlocked the door with the Business Association’s key and, together with the other two workers, went about moving in goods. Seeing this, Xue Ling joined Nan Feng to help in moving goods.
After everything was moved in, Nan Feng paid their travel expenses and sent the two workers home, deciding to handle things here alone.
When she initially set up shop in Ping County, she had also done so single-handedly.
Once all the goods were moved in, Nan Feng immediately set about arranging the store. She used a similar procedure to the one used in Ping County but without queuing people up. Instead, she planned to host a trial performance, inviting some female musicians to liven up the place, certain this would still result in a satisfactory outcome.
Watching Nan Feng bustle about like a spinning top, Xue Ling couldn’t help but ask, "Don’t you ever get tired of bumbling about like this all the time? Is it fun?"
While arranging the store, Nan Feng replied, "It’s fun. This kind of busyness gives me a sense of accomplishment, satisfaction, and security. If one day I end up having nothing, at least I still have a career, some money."
After hearing this, Xue Ling went over to help Nan Feng. "Alright then, let me try out this so-called sense of accomplishment and security."
...
That night, they worked late into the night. Nan Feng was busy decorating the shop and finding people to paint, only managing to arrange for a meal when it got dark. She took Xue Ling to the snack street to have a noodle dish from Van Jing County. Xue Ling was so tired she could collapse, but Nan Feng looked as energetic as ever and even shared her plans for the next day with Xue Ling.
Although Xue Ling always seemed indifferent, she couldn’t help but feel envious while watching Nan Feng, full of vitality and drive.
A sudden thought struck her: Of the two, one is a lively and hopeful girl who can stand on her own two feet and lives life vibrantly; the other is lifeless, stubborn, always caught up in her moods, and lacking more and more in vigor. So who would Long San prefer?
Naturally, he would admire the former!
Xue Ling had always thought herself to be unique, different from conventional young ladies; she lived her life for herself. But now, seeing Nan Feng, she realized that Nan Feng was the one who truly stood out. She didn’t just live for herself, she lived with ambition and determination.
