Chapter 392: Chapter 393: Continue (4)_1
Nan Feng couldn’t help but snuggle into Yege’s arms, pressing against his chest and then planting a kiss on his chin.
Yege also woke up, he reciprocated her kiss, and they cuddled a little longer before finally getting out of bed.
Then Nan Feng realized that if two people truly get married, life will just flow nicely. While she was brushing her hair in front of her vanity, Yege would watch her from behind. When she was arranging her bun, he would help by holding the loose strands and securing them for her. His movements were clumsy, but in the end, he managed to finish the task.
"Have you ever helped a girl with her hair before?" Nan Feng asked Yege, as she watched his reflection in the bronze mirror.
After a pause, Yege nodded, "Yes, when Nini was mischievous as a child, she would ask me to brush her hair."
"You’re such a great brother."
Yege just responded with a light smile before concentrating back on Nan Feng’s hair. After brushing her hair, he held her for a while before finally letting her go for breakfast.
Although Feng Gu had prepared breakfast, Yege made Nan Feng a separate dish of ginger egg soup. He explained that his mother used to make it for Nini when she was on her period every month.
Nan Feng thought to herself, no wonder Yege has such a tender side — growing up with a younger sister must have played a part.
After breakfast, Yege instructed Nan Feng to get the envelope. He mentioned that he knew where the Business Association was located and offered to accompany her to deliver the invitation. They could also bring some silver along.
Surprised, Nan Feng asked, "Are you coming with me to the Business Association? Don’t you have to return to work at Yamen later?"
Yege replied, "Yes, I do have to return to Yamen, but I can drop you off on the way. At the Association, besides delivering the invitation, you’ll have to fill in some forms, and I’m worried you might not know how to do it."
Nan Feng looked at Yege, delighted. "You’re so considerate!"
...
"Yege, we’re here!" Nan Feng pointed to a mansion on Centra Street.
The mansion, initially a shopfront, was rented by the Ping County Business Association for meetings, negotiations, and administrative purposes among local merchants. On the mansion’s outer wall hung a sign, reading: Harmony-Ping County Business Association.
The mansion was open, and Nan Feng was about to enter, but noticed Yege standing at the entrance, seemingly lost in thought.
Did Yege have something on his mind?
"Yege, aren’t you coming in?" Nan Feng asked.
Nodding at Nan Feng, Yege gave her a smile, "Of course, let’s go in."
Inside the Association, there were several tables and a number of uniformed staff members. Upon seeing Nan Feng and Yege enter, the chubby, bearded man seated at the front desk quickly stood up. "May I help you..."
Nan Feng handed the invitation over. "I’m Nan Feng, the owner of Spikenard Square."
"Oh, so you’re Boss Nan! I’m the Director of the Business Association, Wang Ju. I left the invitation at your store yesterday as no one was there. I was planning to check later whether you had finished writing it, but I didn’t expect you to bring it here yourself. Thank you for your effort."
"It’s okay, it’s on our way."
Wang Ju accepted the invitation, then looked toward Yege, "And this gentleman, is he an employee of your store?"
Poor Yege, whose looks had been downplayed by the disguise he wore. Nan Feng found it annoying how people always judged others by their appearances; they were so superficial.
Before she could respond, Yege answered, "I’m indeed here to help her out."
"Ah, well, Boss Nan, since you’re here, please feel free to take a seat. There is tea on the cabinet. I’ll go and get the registration ledger for you," said Wang Ju courteously to Nan Feng, while ignoring Yege, who he thought was just an "employee".
