The Director was used to lording over others due to his wealthy master and never regarded law enforcement. Ye Ge turned to ask Nan Feng, "She signed a contract of personal servitude?"

Nan Feng shrugged, "I’m not sure of the exact details, but upon their arrival, they demanded the person and threatened to beat aunty Yun. I had no choice but to employ this ruse. Otherwise, she would have been brutally beaten upon returning with them."

The Director glared at Nan Feng, readying himself to charge, "So, you were toying with me from the start, you..."

Just as he attempted to kick, Ye Ge knocked the Director down with a single swift kick of his own, "Stop your insolence!"

Accustomed to having his way within the residence, he was infuriated to be kicked. After being helped up by his subordinates, he threatened, "Mark my words, our master will not let you off lightly. You can expect prison time!"

Nan Feng examined the Zhang Residence. The ornate decoration, artificial hills and flourishing flowers in the garden, the glimmering coloured glazed tiles peeking through the trees, all exuded a strong Jiangnan style.

The Zhang Family’s business mostly dealt with silk and was thriving, no wonder they could afford to keep so many servants.

Nan Feng and Ye Ge waited in the garden for quite a while before the Director came back and announced, "Old Master Zhang will see you now."
