Chapter 1530: Chapter 1352: A Stormy Night in Jianghu

At the Inn, several figures had already crept into the room.

Before the bed hung a gauzy mosquito net, through which the faint silhouettes of two people could be seen. One of them turned to the other, who nodded, and the group quietly approached the bedside.

A bright knife gleamed momentarily in the night, followed swiftly by a stab aimed at the two figures on the bed.

However, as their hands raised and the knives fell, they were shocked to discover that the bed was in fact empty; the so-called figures were nothing more than two quilts stacked together.

"What’s going on? Wasn’t it said that they stayed in this room?" asked one of them.

"When we followed them during the day, they were indeed here, and I would stake my life on the fact that they didn’t even leave the town."

"That’s strange!"

The group searched the room again and then scoured the Inn both inside and out, but there was no sign of Yege and Nan Feng.

Not far away, on a hillside, Nan Feng and Yege were lying on a tree. They parted the leaves to watch the Inn, which went from darkness to brightly lit, from quiet to bustling, as a large search began in the area around them.

Yet one man stood still, completely motionless.

Nan Feng whispered, "That man called Yun Xiao doesn’t seem to be simple. He isn’t putting much effort into searching for us. It looks like he just considers this a job."

"He knows it’s a futile search with his strength," Yege said. "Let’s hide for a while, then make a secret visit, and surely we can find a way to break back in."

"Good, we shouldn’t stay here for long. Let’s get going," Nan Feng said.

...

Xia Dabao was lying in bed when she suddenly heard the sound of the door opening.

"Who is it?" she asked sharply.

Even if it was Camellia and Peony, it wouldn’t be appropriate for them to come in so late.

But she saw a dark figure charge at her out of nowhere!

Ill-intent was clear!

Xia Dabao quickly responded.

When she took the palm strike, her opponent was clearly taken aback, apparently unaware that Xia Dabao knew Martial Arts—and that her skills were not weak.

After countering the move, Xia Dabao also realized something: her assailant was a woman, and not one of the two flowers serving her.

An assassin?

She hurriedly shouted for help, "Somebody, there’s an assassin!"

However, it was clear that there was no one outside. Xia Dabao thought to herself that the earlier commotion must have been them clashing with this female assassin, and she had already dealt with them.

But how could this person, with seemingly no high level of Martial Arts, manage to handle so many people in such a short amount of time?

It must be some kind of bizarre gu, right?

The two exchanged several rounds of attacks. Although their Martial Arts were comparable, if the fight continued like this, the figure in black would gain no advantage and would only risk exposing her whereabouts.

The black-clad figure decisively pulled a sleeping gu from her bosom and threw it at Xia Dabao. The gu landed on Xia Dabao, but she showed no reaction whatsoever.

Just as expected...

She quickly retreated. Xia Dabao was about to give chase, but then she remembered Axian was still asleep in bed. Instead of pursuing, she reached for the flint near the bed and lit the oil lamp in the room.

No sooner had the flint sparked to life when she heard noise outside the room; shortly after, the door was pushed open, and another dark figure burst in.

Xia Dabao immediately demanded, "How dare you come back? Take this move!"

Just as she was about to charge, the figure in black took off the face mask, following which a bewitching face was revealed.
