Chapter 1449: Chapter 1271: Xiao’ai, Dabao, Xiaobei
Dabao had walked a long way before she finally turned back and smiled at Long Aixi again.
Long Aixi didn’t know what Dabao was smiling about. Could it be that the sadness was so overwhelming that she didn’t even know what she was doing?
"Xiao’ai, I feel like there’s nothing fun in Capital City," Dabao started talking again on her own.
"There really isn’t much fun in Capital City, just more people and more stuff," Long Aixi replied, going along with what Dabao said. After all, whatever she said was fine by her.
"Peach Blossom Village is more fun," Dabao added.
"Yeah, Peach Blossom Village is free and easy. You can do whatever you want without seeing so many people, and you can see mountains and waters as soon as you step outside," Long Aixi continued to go along with Dabao.
Dabao stopped walking. Her gaze fell on a nearby restaurant, then she asked Long Aixi, "Xiao’ai, do you drink?"
"Drink? Not really, you know what my alcohol tolerance is like, Dabao. Do you want to drink?" Long Aixi inexplicably felt heartache.
She had partied wildly all night, and she was ultimately going to drown her sorrows in alcohol.
But perhaps this was for the best. Everyone in the Dragon Fang Gang said that a drunken night could ease a thousand sorrows, so what harm was there in getting drunk once?
Dabao looked at the restaurant, speaking as if to herself, "My dad says that girls shouldn’t drink recklessly outside. If you get drunk, something might happen, so I want to take it back to drink. But I’m worried your aunt and the rest might misunderstand, considering it’s not good for a lady to drink."
Long Aixi looked at Dabao, then smiled accommodatingly, "It’s okay. If you feel like drinking, then drink. I’ll cover for you."
Dabao looked at Long Aixi again, "Xiao’ai, you’re always so good to me, it’s just..."
Long Aixi guessed she probably meant that their relationship was unacknowledged, so he smiled, "Dabao, you don’t have to say anything, I understand."
Dabao gazed deeply at Long Aixi. To tell the truth, she didn’t even know what she wanted to say.
She genuinely thought he was good, good enough to move her, to make her want to cry on his shoulder. But then, she couldn’t understand why she felt this way.
Because she felt lost and despondent, did she see him as a means of venting? Or as someone to keep her warm temporarily?
Dabao couldn’t figure it out, so she just maintained the usual distance with him.
After all, she had just pulled away from Tian Xiaobei, and now to immediately tell Long Aixi she was dependent on him would make her seem frivolous, wouldn’t it?
...
The two bought some alcohol and went back to Dabao’s room, sent the servants away, and then Dabao began to drink, munching on fried peanuts.
Long Aixi didn’t drink much; knowing his own limits, he could only watch Dabao drink one cup after another.
After a few drinks, Dabao started talking more, "You know, I shouldn’t have listened to you about coming to Capital City. Do you know how his parents treated me last time I went to their house? Hmph, they thought I was too rustic, too unrefined because I’m from the countryside. To hell with their refinement; they just disdain us country folk. Honestly, I was almost over him, but you insisted I come, you insisted... Look where that’s got me now—left without even a significant other!"
"I, Dabao, have lived freely and have never been aggrieved by anyone, but damn it, I’ve been humiliated twice by Tian Xiaobei. Who does he think he is? Back in Peach Blossom Village, if it weren’t for me... he would have been killed by Zhao Datu, hmph!"
