Chapter 1119: Chapter 1121 Xiao’ai, Dabao, Xiaobei

"Have you been scolded by Auntie Zhao and the others again?" Nan Feng asked while watching Zhao Dabao, knowing her daughter better than anyone else, she could easily tell what was on her mind.

"Exactly," Dabao said morosely as she added firewood to the stove, "They said I don’t act like a girl at all, just know how to eat, eat, eat, and don’t like needlework. They’re afraid I won’t be able to get married."

"Then stop hunting and start sewing clothes at home from tomorrow?" suggested Nan Feng.

"I don’t want to do that, I’d be so bored to death," protested Xia Dabao.

"Well, there you have it. You don’t like doing needlework and prefer to run around and play. Since that’s the case, why worry about what others say? Just do what you like," Nan Feng said.

Upon hearing this from Nan Feng, a smile quickly spread across Xia Dabao’s face. She shoved the stick of firewood into the stove, then immediately scooped up Nan Feng in her arms, "Mom, you truly are Abao’s good mom, the most unique in Peach Blossom County, one of a kind! Other mothers only know to make their daughters do needlework, but my mom teaches me to hunt, to sell things in the market, always just letting Babao do what I like."

Nan Feng smiled back at her: "You little flatterer."

While they were talking, there came the sound of someone pushing the gate from outside the courtyard. Nan Feng and Xia Babao both hurried out to look.

"Dad," Xia Dabao called out immediately upon seeing him and was about to relieve him of his hoe and the fresh greens he just picked from the field, but she was a step too slow.

Mom was quicker.

"Come, Abao, put the greens and hoe inside," Nan Feng handed the things to Xia Dabao while she took her husband by the hand and led him under the citrus tree, then started to wipe his sweat with a very tender voice, "Tired?"

"Not tired," her husband, Axian, said, "I stop feeling tired the moment I see you."

"Stop it; you make it sound like I’m some sort of magical pill," said Nan Feng shyly.

"Aren’t you my magical pill? Seeing you, and our Dabao and Axian, I don’t feel tired at all."

"..."

Xia Dabao had just put away the greens and hoe and came out in time to catch her parents’ conversation in the courtyard. She couldn’t help but feel goosebumps, then stick out her tongue—her parents were not that young, and the kid was already so big, yet they were still so lovey-dovey every day.

Look around the village; are there any parents that affectionate? The neighbor Auntie Zhao second, once out of the village, would walk behind her husband; they even walked quite a distance apart from each other, addressing each other as "XX’s dad" or "XX’s mom." Look at how her own dad calls her mom, it has been "Fengfeng" for more than a decade, and mom had several names for dad; "my dear" when she’s happy, "Axian" usually, and "Abao’s dad" when she’s not.

While Xia Dabao was observing her parents’ affection, her mom suddenly turned around and called out, "Abao, your dad has been busy in the fields all afternoon; he must be exhausted, so you’ll take care of the rabbit. Once you’re ready with the ingredients, call me, and I’ll cook. Your dad loves the dishes I make."

Xia Dabao instantly felt a little wronged. What happened to the promise of "whatever you want to eat, mom will make for you"?

"Mom, if dad is tired, what about you?" Xia Dabao asked, unwilling to accept the situation.

"If your dad is tired, I’ll massage his legs," her mom said, not looking at Xia Dabao any longer.

At that moment, Xia Dabao started to wonder if she was really their biological child.
