Chapter 140: Chapter 140: What are you standing there for, come in quickly.

The maid sneered, "Still dreaming of becoming the mistress? Take a good look at yourself."

Take a good look at myself? Sophie Sullivan lowered her head, chuckling softly. "You’re so arrogant, attacking people based on their appearance. Do you think you’re some kind of fairy?"

"I’m not a fairy, but I’m not as ugly as you," the maid quickly countered.

Sophie Sullivan gave a nonchalant laugh. "I hope you remember what you said today." She stared intently at the maid. "Likewise, I’ll remember your face."

A flicker of panic crossed the maid’s eyes. However, she quickly reasoned that Amelia Shaw was currently the favored one, and the maniac had already been cast aside. Whether she could make a comeback in the future was still unknown. So, she had nothing to be afraid of.

"Enough nonsense. Put on your clothes and come with me."

Sophie Sullivan dawdled in putting on her clothes, left the courtyard, and looked up at the nightfall. She didn’t know what time it was, but they still wanted to enslave her. Utterly depraved!

"Don’t look around! Follow me, hurry up!" The maid, who was walking ahead, suddenly stopped and snapped at the unmoving Sophie Sullivan.

Sophie Sullivan took a deep breath and followed the maid’s pace.

They passed through the long corridor, arriving at the castle. At this time, the castle was still brightly lit, glorious and dazzling. It gave one the illusion of being amidst a medieval European royal family.

Entering the castle, Sophie Sullivan was taken to the kitchen, where the maid rolled up her sleeves and quickly began taking ingredients out of the refrigerator.

"What are you standing there for? Come and help!"

Sophie Sullivan stood still. "What are we doing? I can’t cook."

"You want to do the cooking? You’re not worthy."

Sophie Sullivan had already developed an immunity to the maid’s constant ridicule. She went to the sink, turned on the faucet, and started washing the ingredients.

Soon, the Chief Chef arrived and began to skillfully chop the ingredients, his knife skills excellent.

Half an hour later, a lavish midnight snack was ready.

The maid placed the midnight snack on trays, handing one to Sophie Sullivan. Sophie Sullivan hesitated before taking it. The maid picked up another tray and led the way out of the kitchen.

Sophie Sullivan followed closely.

Upstairs, the maid familiarly led her to a bedroom door. Freeing a hand, she knocked. "Miss Shaw, your midnight snack is here. May we come in?"

Miss Shaw? Alarm bells rang in Sophie Sullivan’s mind. Could it be... Amelia Shaw?

"Come in."

A weak voice came from inside the bedroom.

The maid pushed the door open and walked in with the tray. After a few steps, noticing Sophie Sullivan hadn’t followed, she glared, lowered her voice, and urged, "What are you standing there gawking for? Get in here."

Sophie Sullivan pulled herself together and entered the bedroom.

This was a guest bedroom. Amelia Shaw was wearing a burgundy silk nightgown, leaning against the head of the bed with Tagore’s poetry collection in her hand. The maid laid out the midnight snack, item by item, on the tea table. Sophie Sullivan followed suit, numbly placing the dishes.

Seeing Sophie Sullivan, Amelia Shaw seemed stunned for a few seconds, then smiled. Her smile was serene, devoid of any malice.

"Maniac, you’re back?" Her voice was soft and gentle, as if they had been good friends for many years.

Sophie Sullivan remained expressionless, not intending to engage with her.

Truly, how the tables have turned. She never thought fortunes would change so quickly.

The maid nearby sternly reminded, "Miss Shaw is asking you a question, didn’t you hear?"

Amelia Shaw raised her hand.
