Chapter 135: Chapter 135: Not Enough Time to Love You
"So thoughtful?"
Thomas Shannon’s dark eyes stared at her, a hint of a smile playing on his lips.
Sophie Sullivan nodded without embarrassment. "Go ahead and try it."
Under her expectant gaze, Thomas Shannon picked up the fruit juice, but instead of drinking it himself, he changed direction and brought it to her lips.
"A reward for you. Drink up."
Sophie’s red lips parted slightly, a fleeting glimmer of interest deep in her eyes vanishing so quickly it was almost impossible to catch.
"Young Master, care for a sip?"
She pressed the cup firmly against his thin lips, then gave it a sharp push. He was forced to tilt his head back and, caught off guard, took a gulp.
Thomas Shannon furrowed his brow deeply. The expression on his handsome face was beyond awful, a mix of horror and pain.
Charlie River hurriedly poured a glass of water and handed it to him. "Young Master, please rinse your mouth."
Seeing Thomas Shannon’s predicament, Sophie covered her lips with one hand and laughed.
After rinsing his mouth, Thomas Shannon firmly gripped her slim wrist, his cold, deep eyes holding a glimmer she couldn’t fathom. "You hate me that much?"
Sophie twisted her body away from him, her smile flawlessly unassailable. "Young Master, I should go make your food now. Please let go."
"Answer me!"
Sophie leaned in, her slender, scallion-white fingertips tapping his chest. "How could I hate you? I’m too busy loving you!"
Thomas Shannon scoffed and released her hand.
Love? She wasn’t afraid her tongue would twist saying that.
Sophie nonchalantly withdrew her hand. "I’m going to make your food."
She turned and went to the kitchen.
The private jet was quite spacious, featuring a small conference room, a kitchen, a bathroom with a shower, and a bedroom for resting.
Entering the kitchen and surveying the various ingredients, Sophie suddenly lost all interest.
Thomas Shannon must be angry.
She lifted her hand and tapped her forehead. Sophie, Sophie, what madness are you up to now? Endure for a while, and the storm will pass. Don’t forget, I still need Thomas Shannon to help fix my vocal cords and this ugly face. Angering him now offers no advantage to myself. On the contrary, it would shatter the hard-won peace I currently enjoy.
She lowered her head, taking several deep breaths to compose herself before leaving the kitchen.
Thomas Shannon was leaning against the chair back, eyes closed, feigning sleep. Sophie approached and sat down beside him.
She nervously clenched and unclenched her hand several times. After repeating this a few times, she finally broke the silence, "Thomas Shannon, where are we going?"
"..."
"Are you asleep?"
"..."
"I know you’re not asleep. I came to tell you that I’m still not going to make you any food..."
"..."
"Aren’t you going to ask me why?"
"..."
"Because I can’t cook anything."
Sophie tapped her fingertips, mentally counting the seconds, curious to see how long Thomas Shannon could endure before speaking.
Suddenly, she lifted her eyelids and met Charlie River’s contemptuous stare.
Charlie River’s disdain was blatant, utterly unconcealed.
His glaring disdain was not lost on Sophie, and she grew annoyed. "Charlie River, do you really find me that disagreeable?"
Charlie River didn’t even deign to grunt in response, clearly wanting nothing to do with her.
Sophie twisted her head and hugged Thomas Shannon’s arm. "Thomas Shannon, Charlie River is taking advantage of me!"
For the first time, Charlie River witnessed firsthand what truly baseless slander looked like.
This shameless maniac!
"Thomas Shannon, you have to stand up for me." Sophie shook Thomas Shannon’s arm, refusing to believe he could remain indifferent any longer.
As it turned out, Sophie had indeed underestimated Young Master Shannon.
