Chapter 266: Chapter 266 Promise

An Yin didn’t expect him to bring this up suddenly. She froze for a moment before saying, "It didn’t cost much, you don’t need to worry about it."

"How can that be?" Gu Qingyun insisted, "Just tell me how much it is, otherwise I won’t feel right."

He looked at her intently, full of determination.

An Yin avoided his gaze. Faced with his persistent attitude, she showed a troubled expression and said, "You already treated me to a meal earlier, let’s just call it even."

"No way." Gu Qingyun frowned and said decisively, "One thing is not related to the other, I must repay you for the hospital expenses."

He was so insistent that An Yin didn’t know how to refuse him for a moment.

Gu Qingyun saw her bowing her head, he slowly pulled out a wad of cash from his pocket and handed it to An Yin.

"Here’s three thousand yuan, take it for now, and if it’s not enough, I’ll give you more when I earn some from my part-time job."

The wad of money was handed over, and An Yin looked at him in shock, "I didn’t spend that much on the hospital stay." She murmured softly.

"So how much exactly?" Gu Qingyun persisted in asking.

Seeing his determined stance to get to the bottom of it, An Yin guessed that if she didn’t tell him, he would keep chasing for an answer.

With no other choice, An Yin said, "One thousand."

"How is that possible?" Gu Qingyun looked at her in disbelief.

He had been to An Yin’s hospital room, and whether it was the environment or the medical equipment, it all appeared lavish and luxurious to him.

"Really." An Yin raised her head and met his gaze.

An Yin’s eyes were like autumn water, clear, and when you met her gaze, you would find a serious look flickering in the depths of her eyes.

"Even if you’re telling the truth, take this three thousand yuan." Though she spoke so convincingly, Gu Qingyun still doubted that her hospital expenses were only a thousand.

"I’ll only take one thousand." An Yin’s voice was like a clear spring, slowly flowing into his ears.

Seeing her stubborn attitude, Gu Qingyun directly shoved the money into her hands.

An Yin couldn’t evade in time and looked at the wad of money in her hand, "Really, I don’t need this much."

Just as she was speaking, Gu Qingyun had already started walking away, saying casually, "Just take it. Otherwise, I won’t feel at ease."

With the money in her hand, An Yin’s gaze flickered.

She followed Gu Qingyun’s steps, looked at the wad of money, took out a thousand from it and put it back in her pocket, leaving two thousand in her hand.

"Wait." An Yin came up beside him.

Gu Qingyun hadn’t reacted before he saw a hand swiftly touching his pocket. When he realized, he reached out and felt the slightly bulging pocket, lowering his eyelids.

"I took a thousand yuan, the remaining two thousand is yours to keep." Afraid he would give the money back, An Yin quickly took a few steps away.

After a few rounds of tug-and-pull, Gu Qingyun looked at her innocent and carefree face, rubbed his temples, and said with a guilty tone, "If you ever need help in the future, you can call me anytime."

Gu Qingyun made a promise.

An Yin heard his words but didn’t pay much attention to them.

The two walked slowly along the alley.

They chatted a bit here and there. An Yin was reserved, so he mostly did the talking. After leaving the alley, they went their separate ways back to their respective schools.

Back in the dormitory, An Yin took out the thousand yuan from her pocket and placed it together with the tip Meng Sihan had given her.

She only then remembered she had sent a message to Meng Sihan. She took out her phone for a look.

Logically, he should have seen the message she sent, but he didn’t reply, so he simply didn’t want to bother with her, right!

This ten thousand yuan, she’ll just keep it herself for now.

As the end of the semester approached, the atmosphere at school turned heavy, with everyone’s focus on studying.

An Yin was no exception.

On the contrary, Jiang Keke felt particularly anxious every day. The first thing she did upon arriving at school was to count down the days until the final exams.

Hearing her muttering made An Yin feel increasingly nervous, while Jiang Keke seemed extremely excited about the upcoming exams.

The matter Jiang Keke had mentioned before about Bao Shaojin liking An Yin was something neither of them brought up again.

In An Yin’s eyes, she thought it impossible for such a thing to happen.

Jiang Keke, however, thought quite the opposite. Since being with Bao Cheng, she had realized one thing, men from the upper-class circles had a shallow affection for women. Bao Cheng’s cousin might like An Yin, but his affection could merely be limited to her looks.

An Yin’s innocent nature might be tightly controlled if she ever got involved with that man.

Jiang Keke’s thoughts returned.

Recently, An Yin had been consulting Jiang Keke, discussing An Yin pretending to be Bao Cheng’s "girlfriend". An Yin thought it was time to let Bao Shaojin know about this matter, but Jiang Keke firmly refused.

Since Bao Shaojin caught her and Bao Cheng having a date at the couple’s restaurant, her progress in joining the production for acting hadn’t been hindered. Perhaps Bao Shaojin was too busy to waste time on someone unimportant like her, which gave Jiang Keke some relief. As for An Yin’s suggestion, Jiang Keke casually brushed it off with a "let’s wait a bit longer."

Once she joined the crew and things settled, she’d definitely have Bao Cheng bring An Yin to explain everything clearly to that man.

The rustle and bustle of the classroom emitted a warm feeling.

Every morning before leaving, An Yin made sure to wear an extra sweater. She certainly didn’t want to catch a cold during the finals.

Yet sometimes, the more you guard against something, the more likely you end up succumbing to it.

The next day, An Yin only felt a stuffy nose. She touched her forehead, and fortunately, she didn’t have a fever.

It happened to be the weekend, and most students who didn’t live too far away would take some luggage home, so they would have less to carry back after school ended.

In the few years An Yin had been in college, she always did this.

An Yin pulled out her suitcase, packed quite a few things in it, and after finishing the packing, she headed out with the suitcase, wearing a mask as well.

Flu was rampant in winter, and knowing she had already caught it, she didn’t want to infect others.

Dragging the heavy suitcase, she arrived at the bus stop. After waiting a few minutes, the bus finally arrived.

However, it was crowded on weekends. She got on the bus last, squeezed into the aisle, placed her suitcase at her feet, and held onto the handrail firmly to avoid falling.

She finally got to the bus transfer station.

Dragging her luggage to buy a ticket, there was a long queue at the ticketing center. An Yin obediently stood at the end of the line.

While waiting, she took out her phone to check the time.

It was half-past ten, still early, but she felt a little hungry. She stood her ground, surveyed her surroundings, and noticed a breakfast shop not far away. She left her suitcase where she stood to hold her place in line, then quickly ran to the bun shop.

As she left, she kept looking back to check on her suitcase, and fortunately, no one joined the line behind her suitcase.
