Chapter 593: Chapter 439: Hoarding Thousands upon Thousands for Natural Disasters, Raising a Child, I Let It Go 27

There are many skillful women inside the base, and everyone was willing to do this.

Outside, the women suffered all kinds of bullying, had their food stolen, and lived lives worse than death. But after coming to the base, with its strict rules, they were protected, had enough food, and could earn their sustenance through their own labor and effort. Therefore, when it came to Su Zhiruan and Wen Qingyu’s wedding, everyone was extraordinarily unanimous in their decision to jointly create the bridal dress and wedding suit.

When Su Zhiruan received this incredibly precious gift, she stared at it for a long time.

This bridal dress, imbued with everyone’s hard work, was extraordinarily luxurious.

As for weddings, she had attended many in Small World, both Chinese and Western.

But this time, when she learned that everyone wanted to prepare wedding clothes for them, Su Zhiruan initially thought it was just a momentary excitement to bring some joy to the base, but the bridal gown she held in her hands, it turned out, was even more beautiful than one made in the ancient worlds by a team of court embroiderers.

“This is too valuable,” Su Zhiruan did not accept the bridal dress.

“It’s the sentiment of all of us,” the elderly woman at the front smiled affectionately as she passed the tray to Su Zhiruan’s side, “You both work so hard for this base every day, and we are grateful. We have no other way to express our thanks than by making these two wedding outfits. The other one has been sent to Mr. Wen.”

“I…” Su Zhiruan still hesitated but, seeing the expectant looks of the crowd, she pursed her lips and extended her hand to take the tray, “Thank you, everyone.”

“Happy wedding!” A younger woman behind the elderly lady smiled and waved her hand in congratulations to Su Zhiruan.

Immediately, many people behind her followed suit, offering their congratulations.

Looking at the delicate embroidery on top, Su Zhiruan felt touched and thanked everyone again, “Thank you, everyone.”

Half a month after the viral epidemic had passed, Su Zhiruan and Wen Qingyu held their wedding ceremony.

This wedding differed from a traditional one.

Since the aim was to alleviate tension and add some festivity, Su Zhiruan simply let other couples from the base who liked each other hold their weddings together with theirs.

As they say, adversity reveals true feelings, and indeed several young couples took a liking to each other and celebrated their weddings at this opportunity.

They didn’t wear the extremely luxurious embroidered wedding attire; instead, Su Zhiruan and Wen Qingyu preserved it carefully. They didn’t want to stand out, so like other loving couples, they wore wedding gowns found at a bridal store and held their ceremonies with them.

There were no attempts to stand out, no special ceremonies that compared to anyone else’s.

Standing among the newlyweds, they were just the most ordinary yet loving couple.

As a celebration, the cafeteria specially slaughtered the chickens and ducks they had been raising and laid out a grand feast for the entire base. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal and had fun in the lively celebration.

“Boss, Teacher Wen, these two chicken legs are for you!”

The moment Su Zhiruan and Wen Qingyu approached the banquet, a young man in charge of the cafeteria brightened up and swiftly handed them two chicken legs.

“We’ve already eaten, you keep them,” Su Zhiruan said with a smile, kindly refusing.

They had gone home for a while after the wedding, changed clothes, and had a proper meal before coming down for a walk.

“Boss, take it. It’s a snack,” the young man quickly wrapped up the chicken legs and pressed them into the hands of Su Zhiruan and Wen Qingyu.

This time, they didn’t decline.

However, Wen Qingyu carefully looked at the young man’s face, as if recognizing something, the next second, he suddenly wrapped his arm around Su Zhiruan and left coldly.

“Are you studying how to change expressions, Teacher Wen?” Su Zhiruan couldn’t help but smile when she saw him suddenly turn serious.

She stopped walking and reached out to pinch his cheek, only to have her hand covered by his. Then, with a dominant move, he pulled her hand tightly into his, interlocking their fingers.

“I’ve seen that man before,” he said, pulling Su Zhiruan towards him as they sat on a stone stool by the road, while Wen Qingyu’s gaze was fixed intently on her face.

Thinking he was just talking about someone he recognized, Su Zhiruan nodded and then asked, “And then?”

Seeing her relaxed and nonchalant expression, Wen Qingyu felt a bit aggrieved. Taking advantage of the night, he turned his face away, looking elsewhere, and said in a muffled voice, “He likes you.”

Surprised, Su Zhiruan asked, “How do you know?”

“He was giving you chicken legs,” he explained, seeing her surprised face. Wen Qingyu’s back teeth clenched tightly. For some reason, he felt as if he was like a resentful wife who had been abandoned, seeing her husband talking to another woman. He was frustrated and upset. “Why else would he give them only to you and not to others?”
