Chapter 54: Sneaking a Peek at the Storyboard, Sophie Scott Is Shocked [Part 2]
Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Sneaking a Peek at the Storyboard, Sophie Scott Is Shocked [Part 2]
There were two tables with customers in the shop, one of them was very lively, with six or seven people sitting together, and a few children playing.
The environment here was average, noisy, with mottled walls, old facilities, and oil stains left on the tables and chairs.
For Sophie Scott, eating in such a place was quite a psychological challenge.
After seeing Henry Chapman choose a table, she hesitated for two seconds, gritted her teeth, and walked over.
"Chapman, is Nora Scott, that celebrity?"
Sophie Scott asked, probing lightly.
Putting Nora Scott’s bag on the chair, Henry Chapman raised his eyes. In the shadow of his hood, his gaze was cool and clear as he asked, "What celebrity?"
"..."
Sophie Scott lightly pressed her lips.
Henry Chapman said flatly, "She’s an actress."
The casual tone clearly conveyed his support for Nora Scott.
Sophie Scott’s emotions were tumultuous.
Because of Henry Chapman, she paid some attention to the entertainment industry. Recently, Nora Scott had appeared in the news for ’outshining Lily Turner’ and ’birthday billboard,’ which she remembered.
As she knew, although Nora Scott only acted, the audience praised her for her looks, but her acting skills had always been criticized...
After much consideration, Sophie Scott eventually didn’t argue with Henry Chapman, just nodded and said in agreement, "Yes, an actress."
She pulled out a chair, prepared to sit down when Henry Chapman suddenly took out his phone.
"I’ll take a call."
"Okay."
Sophie Scott obediently nodded.
The shop was noisy, so Henry Chapman simply walked out of the barbecue shop to take the call outside.
As soon as he left, Sophie Scott’s eyes became anxious, and she took out her phone, quickly sending a message to Lily Turner.
[Sophie Scott]: Lily, Henry Chapman brought a friend, what should we do? Is it still possible to make the reporters leave?
After sending the message, she waited a few seconds, without getting a timely reply.
Sophie Scott’s face turned slightly pale. Although she tried to remain calm, she was inevitably nervous since it was her first time doing such a thing.
"Don’t run, stop—"
The sound of children playing suddenly drew Sophie Scott’s attention back.
Three children ran past the table, almost bumping into her, and then she heard a "bang" sound and looked up. It was Nora Scott’s bag being knocked over.
This bag had no zipper, and when it fell to the ground, the snap button came loose, scattering the items inside.
The three children all ran out of the door, and their figures could no longer be seen.
Sophie Scott hesitated, sighed gently, temporarily put aside her worries, and took a few steps forward to pick up the items on the ground.
A bit unexpected.
There were no cosmetics; instead, what spilled out were drawing pens, a notebook, and a book.
While putting the items back in, Sophie Scott noticed something, and pulled it out again...
A comic storyboard book?
Because of her part-time job drawing comics, which made her somewhat famous online, Sophie Scott found it quite familiar.
She furrowed her brows in confusion: Nora Scott also draws comics?
After a brief pause, Sophie Scott awkwardly glanced around the shop. The people at those two tables were engrossed in their affairs, and the owner and employees were busy; the outside was empty, with no sign of anyone.
With a bit of curiosity, she pursed her lips and flipped open the storyboard book...
Within a few seconds, the color drained from Sophie Scott’s face, a strange feeling pressing on her heart, causing her hair to stand on end, her pores felt like they were exploding, and her scalp was tingling.
Just wanting to take a casual look, she unexpectedly flipped through the entire storyboard book in one go, her gaze never wavering, as if her breathing had stopped.
"Miss, is there anything you’d like to eat? The menu is on the table."
The voice of the shop assistant pulled Sophie Scott’s thoughts back from the story.
"What?"
Her gaze shifted from the last page, closing the storyboard book. Her eyes were confused and hesitant as she turned to inquire.
Clearly, she hadn’t completely disengaged from the story.
The shop assistant was momentarily stunned and, seeing her charming appearance, patiently repeated.
Her thoughts still wandering, Sophie Scott distractedly said, "Okay, I’m waiting for a friend, I’ll take a look at the menu first."
"Alright."
Giving her a strange look, the shop assistant walked away.
Unable to stop wondering: Such a lovely girl, how did she end up looking like she lost her soul just by glancing at the Ghost Talisman-like book?
*
Just as Henry Chapman finished his call and came back to the barbecue shop, Nora Scott returned with three bags of roasted potatoes.
Very rough roasted potatoes, peeled and roasted whole, steamed for four to five minutes. When roasted, the outer layer was crispy, and the inside was dense and refreshing, with a sandy texture. Paired with the shop’s special sauces, the taste was superb.
"Just in time, fresh from the oven, nice and warm."
Nora Scott walked in and placed the roasted potatoes on the table.
Sophie Scott quickly raised her head, glanced at her, and then quickly lowered her eyes.
Vaguely, there was a hint of guilty conscience.
The indescribable inner shock hadn’t subsided...
Henry Chapman didn’t sit down, asking Nora Scott, "Is that shop far from here?"
It took a moment before he remembered she was talking about the previous shop. Nora Scott nodded slightly and said, "Not far, just a few minutes walk."
Nodding slightly, Henry Chapman said plainly, "Let’s go."
"Huh?"
Nora Scott didn’t react for a moment.
Henry Chapman picked up the three bags of roasted potatoes, pushed one in front of Sophie Scott, and said, "This portion is for you."
"Huh?" Sophie Scott understood belatedly, feeling panicked and incredulous, asking, "We’re not eating together?"
"Hmm."
Henry Chapman replied, seemingly as a matter of course.
Sophie Scott: "..." Is there such a thing?
Nora Scott: "..." Inviting to meet but not eating together?
However, for someone like Henry Chapman, who had ’no friends,’ he thought he had explained clearly, so he did not say much more and walked towards the door.
After taking a few steps, seeing Nora Scott still standing in place, he turned back, frowned, and asked, "Not coming?"
"Coming."
Seeing Sophie Scott’s stunned, aggrieved, and dazed expression, Nora Scott paused for a bit and actually felt some sympathy for her.
Trying to pursue Henry Chapman...
It’s quite hard.
Taking her bag, Nora Scott turned around, following Henry Chapman.
The two walked out together.
*
The wind was strong, blowing her hair into a slight mess. Nora Scott simply pulled out her hair tie, and when her hair scattered, it slapped her face with stray strands.
Smoothing her hair behind her ears, Nora Scott asked, "What’s going on?"
"What?"
"You just left the girl behind like that?"
Light and shadow swept across, falling on Henry Chapman’s face, the shadow flickering, and confusion surfaced in his eyes.
He said seriously, "She asked me to recommend a barbecue shop, so I recommended this one."
"You could also go together and eat at that shop." Nora Scott suggested helplessly.
It was rare for her to be so ’intrusive.’
But Henry Chapman’s behavior was really unexpected to her.
Henry Chapman lightly furrowed his brow, "That was your recommendation."
"What’s the difference?"
"Did she ask you for a recommendation?"
Nora Scott: "..."
That’s not the point.
If someone asks for your recommendation, they obviously want to dine with you.
What girl would go out alone late at night to have barbeque?
But...
It’s something that Henry Chapman could truly do.
