Chapter 37: Ogre? Becoming Part of the Food Chain Again

Above the dense forest canopy, several birds flew past overhead, while faint insect sounds occasionally echoed from all directions. 

Tang Zheng’s figure was hidden behind thick tree trunks and bushes, his calm eyes carefully observing this small goblin tribe.

The few goblins in the back, panting heavily while carrying the bodies, did not immediately put them down but kept carrying them all the way to the low, disorderly grass hut at the center. 

They placed the five human corpses at the doorstep of the low grass hut. 

Then the goblins hurriedly retreated some distance, looking at the grass hut with a mixture of anticipation and fear. 

Tang Zheng’s eyes twitched slightly as he observed this scene.

A rumbling sound came from inside the low grass hut, like a beast’s low growl.

A palm-sized tongue flicked out, curling the half-bitten goblin entirely into its mouth, followed by crunching noises. 

Pale green blood splattered from the ogre’s open mouth! 

All the surrounding goblins trembled in place, their breathing growing quieter.

Tang Zheng furrowed his brows deeply, a wave of disgust rising inside him. 

Now he finally understood why this small goblin tribe had no younglings. 

This ogre was injured!

A swarm of flies buzzed around the wound! 

No wonder the ogre had crawled out and stood up so slowly.

The ogre’s fierce eyes locked onto the five human corpses on the ground. Its face lit up with excitement as it let out a loud roar. 

Immediately, it lifted its hand, grabbed a corpse, and began devouring it. 

The human’s hard bones crunched like brittle twigs inside the ogre’s mouth. 

Watching this, Tang Zheng withdrew his gaze and took a deep breath.

Tang Zheng noticed the ogre stopped eating only after swallowing three corpses in one go.

Since the ogre had finished eating, the other goblins finally revealed joyous expressions, beginning to eat some tree fruits, rotting carcasses of small beasts, and even some leaves.
