Overlord: Welcoming the Birth of the King -
Chapter 33: Equipment Item Levels, Spider Nest!
As expected!
Seeing its prey trying to escape, the black-green giant snake’s faint intelligence was obviously unable to recognize this as a deliberate act.
The upper half of the black-green giant snake leaned backward, its body almost fully upright, compressing like a spring before launching itself toward Tang Zheng with a snap of its jaws.
Opportunity!
Tang Zheng’s eyes lit up. This was exactly the move he had been waiting for.
He swung his iron sword in his hand, gripping it backward like a spear, and fiercely thrust it toward the open mouth of the black-green giant snake.
Boom!
The tremendous force, combined with the iron sword’s impact, exploded in midair.
The iron sword pierced precisely through the black-green giant snake’s mouth, dragging out a large amount of white slime and red blood, even mixed with some bits of flesh, splattering all over the ground.
“Hiss! Roar!”The black-green giant snake fell from midair, twisting its body in agony, emitting pained hissing sounds.
Bang! Bang!
Its thick tail whipped wildly, striking nearby trees violently with thunderous crashes due to the intense pain.
Tang Zheng watched the black-green giant snake writhe in torment, its head pierced through. He cracked a slight smile and stepped back several paces.
Silently, he waited for the black-green giant snake to die.
Since its scales were both hard and slippery, he chose to attack its soft interior instead.
After struggling for about two to three minutes,
the black-green giant snake, still twitching violently on the ground, gradually stopped moving and lay completely still.
[Experience gained: 150 points]
Current experience: 421/1000.
“That’s quite a bit of experience.”
A trace of a smile appeared on Tang Zheng’s face as he stood up and walked toward the black-green giant snake. With the experience notification, he didn’t have to worry about any feigned death.
He found the iron sword on the ground, covered with slime and blood. A slight look of disgust flashed at the corner of his eye.
From his item box, he took out the previously created yellowed and stiff magic scroll, using it to wipe off the slime and blood from the iron sword before picking it up again.
“These black-green giant snake scales would be good for making armor.”
Tang Zheng glanced over the six-meter-long black-green giant snake. Except for severe damage to the head area, the rest of the body was well preserved.
However, Tang Zheng had little interest in making armor.
With the craftsmanship humans possessed in this other world, the best armor they could produce would only reach the upper level.
Given the time, Tang Zheng would rather put effort into seeing if he could acquire the legacies of the “King of Eight Desires” or the “Six Great Gods.”
In the “YGGDRASIL” game, equipment and item levels were divided into ten ranks.
[Lowest Rank] Levels 1–10
[Low Rank] Levels 11–20
[Medium Rank] Levels 21–30
[Upper Rank] Levels 31–40
[Highest Rank] Levels 41–50
[Legacy Rank] Levels 51–60
[Relic Rank] Levels 61–70
[Legend Rank] Levels 71–80
[Divine Artifact Rank] Levels 81–90
[Guild Weapon] Levels 91–100
Of course, above these ten ranks, there were “World-Class Items” that exceeded the standard categories and were counted separately.
Tang Zheng needed at least one divine artifact rank item to confront the “Nazarick Underground Great Tomb.”
“It should be worth quite a lot if I sell it.”
Tang Zheng reached out and touched the corpse of the black-green giant snake, his mind flickering as he stored it in his item box.
The commotion just now was quite loud.
However, this area should be the territory of this black-green giant snake, so it wouldn’t immediately attract other beasts.
Tang Zheng continued moving east.
The Dragcloth Great Forest surrounded the Angelicia Mountains, forming a huge “U”-shaped primeval jungle stretching 120 kilometers in length and about 40 kilometers in width.
Carne Village was located roughly near the center. Given the dense forest full of obstacles and the occasional attacks,
Tang Zheng felt he would need some time to enter the ogres’ territory.
Before he realized it, it was already noon.
Tang Zheng took out a pocket watch and a map from his item box, checked his time and general position, then put them back.
“He’s traveled about a third of the way, slower than expected. Need to speed up.”
Tang Zheng exhaled and, without stopping, stuffed some black bread into his mouth while continuing forward.
In just one morning!
Besides having slain the black-green giant snake, his item box now contained the corpses of three wild boars and five giant pythons about five meters long each.
Of course, there were also some small snakes, little beasts, and poisonous insects, but since they were just minor creatures, the experience gained was low, and Tang Zheng did not store them in his item box.
After all, they had little value as food or for sale.
There were also two corpses of “Eight Fingers” members. Shortly after entering the forest, Tang Zheng had tossed them somewhere in the jungle.
Now, their bodies were probably almost entirely eaten by wild beasts.
Looking at the dense jungle ahead,
Tang Zheng increased his walking speed, which caused more noise as he rushed through the forest.
Perhaps because of this bold behavior, some beasts became more cautious, and those hidden in the woods no longer showed any sign of actively attacking him.
This surprised Tang Zheng.
He wished he hadn’t been so cautious from the start. After all, beasts were no match for him, and the experience they gave was too low to be worth his attention.
Swish!
Tang Zheng’s iron sword slashed, cutting through some branches and shrubs ahead, creating a path he could pass through.
Above him, thick, lush branches of tall trees intertwined continuously, and the dark forest environment gave a faint sense of oppression.
Suddenly!
A faint sound came from the left side.
Tang Zheng’s ears twitched, and his forward step halted as he retreated to avoid danger.
Whoosh!
A white spider thread as thick as a small finger shot past his face, sticking to a nearby tree.
“Spider?” Tang Zheng quickly looked toward the left, where the thread had been shot from.
On the overlapping branches!
An ash-gray spider with purple spots on its abdomen, possessing eight very sharp and flexible long legs, about the size of a washbasin, hung upside down on the tree.
The white thread just now was shot out by this spider.
“Gallows Spider?” Tang Zheng’s expression changed slightly when he saw the ash-gray spider.
He had purchased information about the Dragcloth Great Forest from the Adventurer Guild, which specifically emphasized this kind of spider.
Even gold-rank adventurer teams would find them extremely troublesome!
Not because these spider monsters were particularly powerful, but because their appearance meant a large number of gallows spiders were nearby.
Rustle! Rustle!
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Almost simultaneously with this thought, the dense leaves around him rustled continuously. White spider threads shot from all directions toward Tang Zheng!
Tang Zheng dashed to dodge the continuously fired spider threads and charged forward.
These spiders clearly had no intention of letting him escape!
Sliding rapidly along the continuously shot white spider threads with their sharp legs, the ash-gray spiders pursued relentlessly.
In the blink of an eye, a dense, eerie, and terrifying mass gathered behind him.
Tang Zheng glanced back, his eye twitching uncontrollably!
