Chapter 407 - 407 Can never find her 8

Chapter 407: Can never find her 8 Chapter 407: Can never find her 8 The early morning sun had already risen, and Victoria Garcia opened her eyes to find that the man lying beside her was actually Arnold Johnson. She thought she was dreaming and quickly closed her eyes again, hoping she wouldn’t wake from this dream.

But, why did it all feel so real?

When she opened her eyes again to confirm, she found that Arnold was staring at her, gently saying to her, “Good morning!”

Victoria responded in a daze, “Arnold, is it really you?”

Arnold took Victoria’s hand, guiding it to his cheek, his eyes, eyebrows, and lips, “Doesn’t it feel familiar?”

“It really is you, Arnold!” Victoria called his name in surprise, a surge of emotion envelopes her as she buries herself in his arms, sobbing, “I was so scared!”

“I know, I know,” Arnold gently patted her shoulders, whispering comfortingly, “I’m sorry, I failed to protect you!”

“I thought I would never see you again!” Victoria sobbed on.

“I promise you, this will never happen again!” Arnold assured her, holding her tighter.

Victoria clung on even tighter, fearing that once she opened her eyes, Arnold would be gone. These past few days felt like a lifetime to her, a world she had never touched before, shrouded in darkness.

“I was locked up with a lot of different women, and some who disobeyed were beaten to death, or raped on the spot, I was terrified, I wanted to stand up and help them, but another woman held me back, whispering in my ear that I wouldn’t just fail to save them, but I would lose my own life.” Victoria muttered, “I really wanted to save them, but I was helpless.”

“Later, someone examined us. you know my body was weak, and I fainted, when I woke up, the woman next to me told me that we were going to be taken to another place because we could be sold for a higher price.” Victoria choked on her words again, “We were closely guarded, drugged every day to prevent us from escaping, guarded by armed men speaking languages we didn’t understand, in that situation, all I could do was pray for you to save me.”

“I’m here, Victoria! Don’t be afraid!” Arnold held her even tighter, letting her feel his strength.

Victoria allowed him to hold her this tight.

“Who were those people? What relation do they have with Sydney Bennett?” Victoria asked, puzzled.

Arnold stroked her hair, saying, “They have nothing to do with Sydney Bennett. She just knew they were from the Middle East Union, primarily involved in human trafficking.”

“In this day and age, such organizations still exist?”

“The dark world has always existed. It’s just that the ordinary people are unaware.” Arnold explained.

“So many women are suffering this torture; can’t the government do anything?” Victoria felt a surge of righteous indignation. Thinking of the women who had been tortured to death, her heart was still pounding.

Arnold wasn’t sure how to explain, some things weren’t the government’s negligence, but rather, there were individuals within the government participating and profiting from it; everything was interconnected.

This group of women who were with Victoria were mostly saved because of Leo’s intervention, but what about the next group, and the one after that…?
