Chapter 223: Being too clever can backfire 7 Chapter 223: Being too clever can backfire 7 Victoria Garcia saw the news on the Internet, and her eyes widened in disbelief. She hadn’t been the one to leak the video to the media.

At the time, her intention was for Terry Garcia to see the video, and she wondered what he would think about it. As for exposing it to the media, she had considered it, but ultimately didn’t do it. It wasn’t out of sympathy for Clara Brown, but rather because she felt this method was too despicable.

Victoria couldn’t help but wonder how the video came to light. Was it leaked to the media by Arnold Johnson?

Thinking of this, she took out her phone and couldn’t resist calling Arnold.

Arnold was in a meeting. Seeing that it was Victoria’s call, he picked up the phone and walked to the side.

“What’s wrong?” Arnold asked in a low voice.

Victoria asked directly, “Did you have someone leak Clara Brown’s video online?”

“No,” Arnold denied, “I wouldn’t do anything you didn’t ask me to do.”

“But, I think the person who exposed it to the media did a good job.” Arnold couldn’t resist adding.

Victoria glanced at her watch and said, “Are you still in a meeting?”

“Yes, are you missing me?” Of course, Arnold spoke the words “missing me” extremely low, confident that only Victoria and himself could hear, and no one else would have such keen hearing.

“No,” Victoria responded with a coyness she didn’t understand herself.

“In that case, let me pick you up after work and have dinner together.” Arnold suggested.

“Sure, you go ahead with your meeting.” This time, Victoria didn’t refuse.

After agreeing, she hung up the phone.

When Arnold returned to his seat in the conference room, his face still held a smile.

The other shareholders in the conference room were speculating about who was on the phone. If they could find out who it was, they would have to flatter them just so they could get off work earlier.

As expected, the meeting ended shortly afterwards.

By the time Arnold’s car arrived, Victoria was just walking out of the company building and saw his car at a glance.

It was midsummer, and the night fell late. As Victoria walked towards him, the sky still had a faint glow of dusk that scattered on her body.

She wore a white T-shirt with light blue pants, like a refreshing green in the summer, exceptionally comfortable to the eyes.

As Arnold watched her approach, his heart was filled with sweetness. Nothing could make him feel happier than this.

Once she got in the car, Victoria pouted, “I told you not to pick me up, but you insisted.”

“Picking up the woman I love after work is a man’s happiness,” he said. He loved this feeling too much; nothing was more enjoyable than watching her approach with a hint of a smile. It could sweep away all the troubles of the day.

“How about I pick you up after work tomorrow?” Victoria asked in return.

“Do you really want to pick me up?”

“I want to know what that kind of happiness feels like.” When she laughed, her eyes narrowed, and she had an indescribable charm.

“Then come pick me up tomorrow.” Arnold agreed with a smile.

He would only relent on his promises when facing Victoria.

After the car turned several streets, it stopped in front of a high-rise building, the tallest in Metropolis.

“The Western cuisine at the top floor is not bad. How about having dinner with me there today?”

Victoria followed him to the top floor. On the way up on the elevator, the speed made her dizzy. Arnold’s hand embraced her tightly, and in that moment, she thought he was a great man, always knowing what she wanted.
