Chapter 147 - 147 Cinema Coincidence
Chapter 147: Cinema Coincidence Chapter 147: Cinema Coincidence After leaving the company, Victoria Garcia headed straight back to school to request an early internship leave from her teacher and solve her meal problem with her roommate along the way.
In the meantime, she had listened to Serenity Brown gossiping, and her mood was surprisingly good.
Though the future was full of thorns, she was undaunted, and a fresh start filled her with new energy and passion.
After Victoria arrived at the school, she saw Arnold Johnson’s car and ran up to it. She pulled the door open, sat in the passenger seat, fastened her seat belt — all in one quick, fluid action.
Arnold Johnson was watching her with a smile on his face, unable to control his accelerating heartbeat.
He enjoyed seeing her radiant and light-hearted. Her happiness was infectious.
“You sneaked out of work again!” Victoria’s voice involuntarily softened, with a tinge of flirtatious tone that she never noticed herself.
Arnold was all smiles. “I had a rare invitation to go watch a movie, so naturally I had to skip work. It’s much rarer than signing deals,” he said.
“If my staff had the same attitude, I’d have to rethink things,” she pretended to be serious.
Playing along, Arnold assured her, “If I were your employee, I would accompany you around the clock, no matter if it’s working normal hours or overtime, day or night.”
Especially the last sentence, which was lewd yet ambiguous, made Victoria’s earlobes inexplicably soft.
“General Garcia, would you consider hiring an employee like me?” Arnold teased.
Victoria glanced at him, then turned to him seriously, “Chairman Johnson is too valuable. My small company can’t afford a big boss. For tough tasks, we’ll just have to do it ourselves.”
“Don’t worry, you can afford my salary,” he replied.
“What is it?” Victoria asked, smiling.
“I hope you would spend an hour every day telling me bedtime stories,” Arnold said, his eyes laughing even more.
“There’s a hooligan living in your bones, too,” Victoria rolled her eyes at him.
Not caring, Arnold even edged closer to her and said, “I only behave like a ruffian to you, everyone else can only dream”.
“Who are these other people?” she added with interest, “Men or women?”
At this, Arnold playfully held his breath and said, “Definitely men, but I’m not interested.”
Seeing him embarrass himself, Victoria laughed even more happily. She revealed her white teeth, making her appear tender and youthful.
Arnold steered the steering wheel half way, and the car drove onto the road towards Peace Cinema.
In the bustling entrance of the cinema, Arnold took Victoria’s hand and held it firmly in his.
Victoria didn’t resist and stood quietly by his side.
“I’ve never been to a place like this before,” Arnold said, turning to her, “but I like this feeling. What about you?”
“Don’t you usually come to the cinema when you watch movies?” Victoria shifted the topic, then added quickly, “Someone like you must rent out the whole cinema to watch a movie, right?”
Undoubtedly, at the entrance of the cinema, their couple was a splendid scenery that attracted the eyes of many.
Among them, there was a gaze that was cast from behind. It was focused tightly on their interlocked hands and threateningly cold.
But the two main characters of the story were totally oblivious to this.
