Chapter 140 - 140 Image Remediation 2
Chapter 140: Image Remediation 2 Chapter 140: Image Remediation 2 Clara Brown walked out arm-in-arm with Terry Garcia, making an elegant yet ostentatiously loving appearance. Throughout their walk on the blue carpet, the couple didn’t hesitate to flaunt their affection. Meanwhile, murmurs of both praise and criticism began to stir among the crowd.
Terry Garcia didn’t mind being the center of everyone’s attention at all. In fact, that was his intention for the day. Thus, he continually displayed tender affection towards Clara Brown in a way that was neither excessive nor pretentious. In this matter, Terry stood out as a maestro.
After Clara Brown stepped off the carpet, a sudden commotion took off.
“Who are those two?”
“They look like a well-matched couple.”
“The man looks eloquent and handsome, and the woman is pretty and delicate. I think I’ve seen him somewhere, but the woman is a complete stranger.” Someone who frequents various parties commented.
In response, a woman with a somewhat harsh-looking face replied, “With such a wealthy and handsome man, it’s natural that various types of women would flock to him. The fact that we haven’t seen this woman before suggests her background must be average. Otherwise how have we not seen her before? Plus, look at her skin, she seems like little more than an eighteen-year-old girl.”
A bitter note of envy rippled through her tone.
“But the woman does have a mature and impressive temperament. It’s rare to see someone so young yet able to hold onto her poise, without losing out to cultivated women,” said one voice. Not all gossipmongers were necessarily bothersome.
“I’ve never seen anyone wear sky blue with such grace before. Such a blue would look earthy and mundane on anyone else.”
Upon hearing this, many women’s eyes turned to Victoria Garcia’s sky blue dress.
The pure, transparent blue, reminiscent of a washed sky, didn’t make her look tacky despite the long trailing strap on her shoulder. Instead, it added an ethereal touch. Her white pearl earrings subtly peeked through her hair.
Her skin, as pleasing as a white cloud, and the beauty radiating from her cherubic smile were exceptional.
Right at that moment, Clara Brown, following everyone’s reaction, looked up to see the woman: Victoria Garcia.
She cursed inwardly, “What the hell is that girl doing here suddenly and who is the man with her?”
Could it be that Mia didn’t win the Best Newcomer Award because of this man by Victoria’s side?
Clara Brown continued to deny this possibility. It couldn’t be that Victoria had hooked up with a man like him. He must be a gigolo, financed by an old man’s money. Such relationships were not uncommon among shameless mistresses.
Despite her thoughts, Clara couldn’t help feeling unsettled. From her perspective, Victoria had no right to attend such an event. She was looking forward to some drama unfolding soon.
Before long, everyone took their seats. Clara Brown was seated gracefully beside Terry Garcia.
After the host had made the introductory remarks, the auction began.
The first item up for auction was a unique energy-saving lamp. The bidding started at one hundred thousand, with increments of ten thousand each time.
It didn’t take long for hands to shoot up, and soon the lamp was sold for five hundred thousand. The buyer was the president of a new energy company who has continually contributed to environmental causes. Subsequently, he generously bid on two more eco-friendly products, collectively donating three million to the charity auction. This act earned him rounds of applause and praises.
Victoria Garcia and Arnold Johnson sat quietly in the front row, making no bids.
If it weren’t for Terry’s instructions to only bid on the final charity item, she would have started bidding on products already.
The silence from Victoria Garcia caused a sense of self-satisfaction to rise within Clara Brown’s heart: Victoria was no more than a glorified mannequin at the event.
