Chapter 412: Revised: Chapter 412 Strange Creatures

“Sleeping! What’s up?” Bai Yun typed out a line, but then deleted it, muttering to herself, “Replying right away, would that seem too eager?”

Zhang Dadan heard her mutterings and couldn’t help but laugh. Looks like he was overthinking things! However, women really are strange creatures!

Nothing was said that night. Early the next morning, Li Xuanxuan started banging on the door like crazy. Zhang Dadan quickly got dressed to stop this little troublemaker.

“Come on! Zhang Dadan, why are you just getting up? You’re so lazy!” Li Xuanxuan complained and tried to drag Zhang Dadan downstairs.

But he had just woken up and hadn’t even had a chance to freshen up. How could he face people, especially Bai Yun, looking like this?

“You go down first, I’ll wash my face!” Zhang Dadan replied, then turned back without further ado.

Li Xuanxuan gave him a dubious look, then followed him into the bathroom, glancing around suspiciously.

“Good, the bathroom doesn’t have Bai Yun’s scent!” Li Xuanxuan sniffed around carefully in the bathroom, muttering to herself.

While brushing his teeth, Zhang Dadan nearly spat out when he heard this. No Bai Yun’s scent? Are you some kind of detective dog?

Taking advantage of Zhang Dadan’s momentary distraction while freshening up, Li Xuanxuan ran to the bed and inspected it carefully, looking very much like a jealous wife catching her husband cheating.

When Zhang Dadan finished freshening up and stepped out of the bathroom, he saw Li Xuanxuan hugging his pillow and sniffing it, making him cover his face and sigh in exasperation.

How many lifetimes of bad luck had he racked up to run into such a peculiar girl?

After sighing, Zhang Dadan pretended to be angry and said sternly, “Li Xuanxuan, enough is enough! Come downstairs with me, now!”

Hearing his words, Li Xuanxuan dropped the pillow, rushed to Zhang Dadan’s side, and said with a smile, “So Bai Yun really hasn’t been here, I guess you’re honest!”

Her domineering manner made Zhang Dadan itch with annoyance. Even if there was something between him and Bai Yun, what’s it got to do with her?

“Not coming yet?” Seeing him glare at her, Li Xuanxuan hugged his arm and dragged him out of the room.

They went downstairs directly to the dining room, where only Mu Zhuangfei and Jiang Yun were present, but neither Mu Feiyan nor Bai Yun was in sight.

“Dadan, you’re up? Come sit and eat, after breakfast, we’ll head out!” Mu Zhuangfei greeted warmly.

Zhang Dadan nodded. Just as he and Li Xuanxuan sat down, Mu Feiyan and Bai Yun walked in hand in hand.

“Uncle, Auntie, I’m sorry for waking up late!” Bai Yun said apologetically to Mu Zhuangfei and his wife, her voice carrying an unexpected hint of sweetness that surprised Zhang Dadan.

He never expected the always sharp and capable Bai Yun to have such a gentle side, which left him feeling…

Seeing Zhang Dadan staring blankly at Bai Yun with a lecherous look, Mu Feiyan admonished, “What are you staring at? Never seen a beauty before?”

Bai Yun, hearing this, glanced at Zhang Dadan and quickly chided Mu Feiyan, “Little Fei, don’t say that…”

Though she seemed to be admonishing Mu Feiyan, inside, she felt a bit excited and bashful, her face turning slightly red.

Seeing her blushing like a peach blossom, Mu Feiyan was a bit suspicious. Could it be that they really were flirting?

But given their backgrounds, this seemed like an absurd joke!

“Little Fei, just eat your breakfast!” Jiang Yun hastily advised her daughter, fearing she might say something more irritating.

Mu Zhuangfei, uninterested in these trivial matters, quickly finished his meal and urged Zhang Dadan, “Hurry up, I’ll wait for you in the living room!”

Seeing Mu Zhuangfei finished, Zhang Dadan quickly gulped down a few mouthfuls and rushed out of the dining room; he didn’t dare keep Mu Zhuangfei waiting.

Following Mu Zhuangfei out, little Zhao, his Guidance officer, was already waiting by the car. As Mu Zhuangfei approached, little Zhao promptly opened the rear door, shielding the doorway with his hand.

The two sat in the car but fell into silence. Zhang Dadan noticed Mu Zhuangfei looking tired, his eyes slightly shadowed, and couldn’t help but chuckle.

“What’s so funny, you little rascal?” Mu Zhuangfei, feeling a bit guilty, reprimanded him sternly.

Little Zhao, driving, tensed up at Mu Zhuangfei’s sudden anger, not daring to breathe loudly.

Zhang Dadan bit his lip, stifling his laughter, and replied faintly, “What’s funny? Let’s just keep it between us!”

Mu Zhuangfei didn’t engage with Zhang Dadan initially for fear of questions. Now, seeing him jest so boldly, he couldn’t hold it in anymore.

“Alright… alright… stop messing around, I’m exhausted…” Mu Zhuangfei said, with a hint of pride between his brows.

Hearing this, Zhang Dadan laughed even more wildly, patting Mu Zhuangfei on the shoulder, “It’s good for a man to be tired out. At your age, many can’t even if they want to!”

Seeing Zhang Dadan getting more audacious, Mu Zhuangfei didn’t feel offended; instead, he felt even prouder.

“Wait! What do you mean by ‘my age’? I’m only in my forties!” Mu Zhuangfei suddenly retorted.

“In your forties? Many men in their forties have the spirit but not the strength. You used to…” Before Zhang Dadan could finish, Mu Zhuangfei clamped his hand over his mouth.

Little Zhao, being quite innocent and naive, had no clue what the two were talking about.

“Sir, were you heartbroken before? What’s wrong with your heart?” Feeling worried, little Zhao asked.

Mu Zhuangfei, having just silenced Zhang Dadan’s nonsense, now faced this naive question and barked, “Just drive! Don’t talk nonsense!”

Little Zhao, hearing this, shut his mouth tightly and drove obediently. Before long, they reached the base.

“Old Mu, is this the fighting instructor you found?” Mu Zhuangfei had just stepped into the base when a man in his forties came up, teasing him.

Seeing his disdainful look and the way he sized him up, Zhang Dadan felt displeased and was about to retort when Mu Zhuangfei stopped him.

“Old Zheng, don’t underestimate this lad. His skills are genuinely impressive!” Mu Zhuangfei said earnestly with a smile.

Old Zheng, however, was skeptical. A young guy in his twenties having impressive skills and coming here to teach? Ridiculous!

“Old Mu, I know you’re careful, but could you be fooled? This guy looks big and strong but seems a bit dull!” Old Zheng frowned.

Dull? Me? I’m just hiding my prowess! Do martial arts experts have to look fierce all the time?

Zhang Dadan, unable to hold back, stepped forward and said, “Sir, you can’t judge a book by its cover. How can you make conclusions after just one meeting?”

Old Zheng, whose name was Zheng Yuping, had been working in political affairs diligently and had never interfered in military training.

But upon learning that Mu Zhuangfei had hired an outsider to be the instructor, and that this outsider was a young man in his twenties, he grew doubtful.

After some investigation, he found out the young man was named Zhang Dadan, a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner who taught acupoint techniques, which made him even more uneasy.

Questioning the credibility of TCM aside, the idea of teaching acupoint techniques was outright nonsense. If TCM indeed had such capabilities, wouldn’t all TCM practitioners be supreme masters?
